"So, this is your bachelor pad, huh." Stevie smirked, looking around she saw nothing but white, grey and black. "Typical."

"What's wrong with my apartment?" Lindsey frowned, crossing his arms over his chest, ready to defend his choices of décor.

"Nothing." Stevie shook her head, laughing lightly. "Are you going to offer me a drink or not?"

"Oh, sorry." Lindsey smiled sheepishly and led them to his liquor cabinet. "What can I get you?"

"How about that whiskey-" She pointed to a bottle, which was displayed front and center. "Over there?"

Lindsey gulped, he was saving it for a special occasion, but now was not the time to argue. "Of course." He nodded, opened the bottle and poured a mouthful into two glasses.

"Thank you." Stevie took a seat and he joined her, keeping some distance between them. "You don't have to be so scared."

"I'm-" Lindsey sighed. "I thought, you weren't coming. I knew that if you weren't going to show up, you were definitely not going to take any of my calls. I've done nothing wrong and I don't know, how to prove that to you, so yeah, I guess, I am scared."

"You don't have to be." Stevie shook her head and took a tiny sip. "I believe you."

"You do?" Lindsey breathed a sigh of relief. His first instinct was to reach out and touch her, but he wasn't sure if they were there yet.

"Well, unless that wasn't your sister spying on us-"

"It was." Lindsey insisted, a hand over his heart. "She's just- Gah..." He shook his head. "I think, she enjoys making my life miserable."

"It was me." Emily appeared out of nowhere, startling Stevie, angering Lindsey. "I swear. He was busy with whatever, when you called, and I didn't think it was going to be such a huge deal if I answered. I wish I hadn't."

"Emily, get out of here, please." Lindsey gave his sister a look, his teeth gritted.

"You don't have to be so mean, Lindsey." Stevie shook her head at him.

"I know right?" Emily scoffed, immediately siding with Stevie. "He yelled at me because I was making popcorn earlier, can you imagine?"

Stevie bit into her bottom lip to keep from laughing. Feeling Lindsey's distress, she blindly searched for his hand and laced her fingers through his. "You're Emily, right?"

"Yes. And I know, you're Stevie." Emily stuck her hand out to formally greet her brother's new girlfriend. Or whatever their relationship status was. She shielded her mouth so Lindsey couldn't see, but she didn't whisper quietly enough for him not to hear. "My brother's got it bad for you."

"Oh my God, Emily! Leave!" Lindsey showed towards the doorway and Emily walked out, her laughter echoed until she shut the door to her temporary room. "And she's here until the end of next week." He exhaled heavily, knocking back his drink.

"I'm sure she means well." Stevie chuckled, shifting over closer to him. She brought her hand up and cupped his cheek, hoping that her touch was going to relieve some of that tension. "I've missed you."

"I've missed you, too." Lindsey turned his head slightly and pressed a kiss to her palm. "I'm really glad you're here." No matter how happy he was, there was that question in the back of his mind, which he had to bring up. "Are you and uh... is it..." He swallowed uneasily, casting his eyes down.

"It's over." Stevie nodded, knowing, what he was trying to ask.
