"You-" Stevie tipped her glass towards Lindsey. "seem different tonight."
"Oh yeah? How?" Lindsey raised an eyebrow, sipping on a scotch on the rocks.
"I don't know. Confident, maybe?" She wasn't really sure of how to put into words, but there was a different aura around him compared to the evening they had spent together before.
"Well..." Lindsey leaned in a little closer and lowered his voice. "Maybe that's because I don't have to be afraid of getting punched in the face by the man, whose girlfriend I'm with right now."
"Oh." Stevie laughed lightly, crossing her legs under the table, the pointy nose of her high heels now dangerously close to Lindsey's leg. "And why would that ever happen?"
Shrugging his shoulders, Lindsey shifted his gaze, he looked around the room. He wasn't looking for anyone or anything in particular, he just did it to prolong the pause. "Because I'm planning to kiss you."
Just the thought of him doing that caused a tingle and she shifted in her seat. "After it went so well the last time?"
"Well, the last time..." Lindsey paused again, biting into his bottom lip as he locked their eyes. "I wasn't entirely sure if you wanted it."
"I told you." Stevie emphasized, taking a sip of her martini. "What more was I supposed to do? Tear my clothes off."
"Oh no, not at all." Lindsey shook his head. "No, I'd very much like to do that myself." Stevie choked on her drink, her eyes grew wide as she coughed a few times, clutching her chest. "You okay?"
"Uh, yeah." Stevie nodded, only able to focus on the softness of his palm cupping her cheek. "I'm fine." She assured and he withdrew his hand. "You have to help me understand. The other night, I practically begged for you to kiss me and you did, barely, but then pulled away. I was so embarrassed, I-"
"I'm sorry that I made you feel that way." And he meant it. "But we were drinking, you were upset..." Lindsey trailed off. "I didn't want you to think that I took advantage of you, so I stopped."
"What changed?" Stevie asked, pointing to her glass.
"Well, you had another fight with your boyfriend, who had to go home, but you stayed here and you didn't say, no, to spending another night with me." Lindsey explained.
"Who says, I'm spending the night with you?" Stevie challenged, to which Lindsey laughed.
"You're telling me, you don't want to?" He asked and one of his hands disappeared under the table, it slithered up from her ankle to the back of her knee, he saw her gulp. "Your boyfriend is a safe option. Your relationship is not perfect anymore, the feelings aren't the same as they once were. Judging by everything you've told me, I think, you want out, but you're afraid. You're waiting for someone else to step in."
Stevie was rendered speechless for a moment as she just stared at him. She then uncrossed her legs and sat up straight, pulling away from his touch. "And you're that someone?"
"I could be. At least for a little while." Lindsey added, finishing off his drink. "It's warm out tonight. Care to go for a walk?"
Her heartbeat picked up pace. He was recreating the other night and she was suddenly nervous. Was it going to go the same? Were they going to kiss and stop at that again? Did she want to? Was she actually completely over her relationship with Dean and she wouldn't even care if she cheated on him?
"It might be warm, but I'd still like to go up to my room and grab something just in case." Stevie said. "I'd hate to depend on you to keep me from getting cold."
Lindsey didn't see a reason to disagree. Shortly, they were on their way out, walking side by side, not a word spoken between them. The elevator doors opened and Lindsey showed her to enter first, he followed close behind and pushed the button, when she told him, which floor. Stevie half expected for Lindsey to kiss her right there and then, but he didn't.
"I'll wait outside." Lindsey said, when they stopped by her room.
"It's okay." Stevie opened the door and let him close it behind him.
Lindsey didn't let Stevie get that much farther, when he circled his arm around her waist and turned her around. He didn't ask, he didn't wait for a reaction, he pressed their lips together firmly and she could swear, she felt her knees buckle. His one hand disappeared into her hair, keeping her in place as he pried her lips open, the other gripped her hip, pushing her against him. She was definitely taken by surprise, but it didn't take long for her to respond equally as eager.
Before things could escalate, Lindsey slowed them down much to Stevie's dismay. He pecked her on the lips, then stepped back, letting go of her just like that. "You should go look for something to put on."
"Excuse me?" Stevie scoffed. "Are you serious?"
"Yeah. We're going out, remember?" Lindsey smirked, sticking his hand into his pants pockets. "I'll wait right here. Who knows, what might happen if I followed you into the bedroom."
