Stevie noticed Dean's demeanor had changed as soon as they were back in their room. He didn't open his work laptop the second they walked in, he didn't pull out his phone to check for any missed calls. She didn't even have to bring it up for him to start talking about plans for the rest of the day. What changed exactly, Stevie thought to herself. Did he catch her exchange with Lindsey? He would have been mad, not sweet to her. Or was he possibly threatened? Maybe he wanted to make sure she didn't look at another man again and this was his way of doing it?
"I'm gonna take a shower." Stevie said, looking for a clean set of clothes. "It's so hot, I'm all sweaty."
"Okay." Dean nodded, smiling her way.
Dean waited for a few minutes, sitting on the bed, his hands clasped. They were itching to check his emails, but he couldn't do that now, not when his girlfriend was looking elsewhere. It might have been nothing, but he couldn't be sure. Even though Dean didn't know, who Lindsey was, he remembered him from yesterday, when he caught Lily before she could run too far away. Something was telling Dean that Stevie saw the man again. Possibly, he was the reason why she stayed out so late. Of course, it could have simply been all in Dean's head, but he figured, a little attention couldn't hurt.
Dropping his clothes, Dean went to the bathroom. He was glad to find the door unlocked when he tried to open it. Stevie turned to look and gave him a questioning look. Their sex life was barely alive lately, she was surprised at his clear intention.
"Is there room for one more?" Dean asked, stepping into the shower with her, his hands gripped her hips from behind.
"Absolutely." Stevie nodded, leaning her head back on his shoulder, when he pressed a kiss to her neck.
It wasn't hard to imagine, when Stevie closed her eyes. Dean's lips, his hands could have been someone else's if she just didn't look at the man she was actually with. She felt Lindsey's lips on hers, now she wondered, how they would feel somewhere entirely else on her body. She opened her mouth and sighed, pressing herself firmly against Dean.
Unfortunately, Dean turned her around and Stevie felt the cold tiles touching her back as he pushed her against the wall and she opened her eyes. Her fantasy was gone with that and she did her best not to show her disappointment, when he kissed her.
An annoying and all too familiar sound came from the other side of the door. Stevie tried ignoring it and so did Dean. He smiled, when his phone stopped ringing, then groaned, when it started again.
"Just-" He pulled away. "Just give me a second, I'll be right back."
Don't bother, Stevie thought. The phone call took a lot longer than a second and she wasn't surprised. Wrapped in a towel, Stevie came into the room and Dean was giving the best apologetic look he could muster.
"What now?" Stevie asked, hands on her hips.
"I'm sorry." Dean approached her, but she swatted his hand away, when he tried touching her. "Stevie, I don't like this any more than you do."
"What? What is it?" She repeated, but she already knew.
"I have to go back." Dean sighed as he reached for his clothes to redress. "I'm needed at the office." Stevie just scoffed. "I'm sorry, okay? I really am. You don't have to go with me, though. Please, stay." He was in enough hot water as it was. He would only make things worse if he insisted that she had to go home with him.
No, she wasn't planning on going anywhere.
