Groceries in one hand, whatever Stevie had asked to pick up in the other, Lindsey kicked the door closed, nearly dropping everything on the floor, when the newest resident of the apartment came out of nowhere to yap at his feet. It's just for a little while, Stevie said. One of her friends had to move and the flat came with a strict no animals policy. Until we find him a new home, Stevie added and what was Lindsey going to say, no? To his five months pregnant girlfriend? Until we find him a new home, Lindsey nodded, giving her a pointed look. And he believed her for a while too, but it had been weeks and Stevie was doing everything but looking for new owners.

"Linds? Is that you?" Stevie's voice came from the living room, which is where he went.

"Expecting someone else?" Lindsey asked with a raised eyebrow.

"No, I'm just happy that you're home." She smiled, cocking her head back, asking for a kiss.

"How was your day?" Lindsey slumped down on the couch, when she made a bit of space for him.

"Oh, super busy." Stevie rolled her eyes, turning the volume of the TV down. "You know, it's really difficult to spend hours lying around and watching reality shows."

"Well, I'm jealous." Lindsey emphasized, hand over his heart.

"A bad day at the office?" Stevie gave him a sympathetic look and moved closer to him, his arm naturally wrapped itself around her.

"Eh." Lindsey waved it off. "I don't want to bore you." He said, pressing a kiss to her hair. "I picked up your package."

Stevie's face instantly lit up and she clapped her hands together. "Show me! It's baby stuff."

Lindsey smiled, handing over a large bag of whatever she had ordered online, while he was at work. Even though they still had months left, she insisted they had to be prepared. Lindsey wasn't going to bring it up, but he had a feeling that she just loved shopping for cute tiny onesies.

"You keep buying clothes for the baby, but we haven't even discussed the nursery." Lindsey pointed out, watching as Stevie got excited about a pair of little shoes.

"Uh..." Stevie trailed off, unfolding another piece of clothing.

"Oh, so you have thought about it." Lindsey subtly rolled his eyes only to tease her. He didn't expect to be involved in those decisions anyway.

"We have a massive delivery coming next week so it would be great if you're home when it gets here." She smiled at him, reaching into the bag again. "What's this?" She took out a box and shook it.

Lindsey's eyes grew wide, he had to stop himself from yelling out for her not to do that again. "I-I don't know." He lied, shrugging his shoulders. "Why don't you open it?"

Stevie gave him a questioning look then slowly untied the bow to take the lid off. She gulped, seeing a much smaller giftbox inside. "Wh-what is this?" She asked again, but he gave nothing away.

When Stevie finally opened it with shaky hands, she turned to face Lindsey, whose expression had completely changed. He suddenly seemed nervous. They were both quiet for a moment, until Lindsey could no longer stand the silence.

"Will you marry me?"

Stevie took the little box with the ring and handed it to Lindsey. He went numb, her face was giving him nothing. It was too soon, he feared that it was too soon.

"I'm not going to put it on my finger myself, am I?" A smile finally crossed Stevie's lips.
