SALLY SPENT HER SATURDAY NIGHT WITH THE BEST PEOPLE SHE KNEW, Robin Buckley and Steve Harrington. The small group decided to hang out at Steve's fairly large- which was an understatement- house as his parents were gone for the weekend.
They'd decided to watch cheesy films all night, only allowing one horror film for Steve's sake. The two girls knew his guilty pleasure was the rom-coms really, either Grease or Sixteen Candles he'd ask to rewatch, because the girl was hot, he'd said.
They were chilling in Steve's living room, engulfed in blankets and popcorn, which Robin and Sally were sneakily every five minutes been sticking to Steve's hair, so far unnoticed.
He was too busy watching The Breakfast Club, especially Molly Ringwald skidding across the empty halls. "I don't understand you Robin, why don't you find her hot?" He asked raising his hand to point at the Tv.
Robin rolled her eyes, sick of repeating herself. "I don't know, ok! I just don't" Steve's attention now on Robin for their usual debate, Sally used this as the perfect excuse to place another piece of popcorn in his hair, this time right in the middle.
"But boobies Robin!"
"Ew! Don't say boobies!"
She risked trying to stick another right next to the other, but failed miserably as Steve whipped his head back around, the piece of popcorn fell onto his lap and his face contorted into fragments of different emotions as he knew what they'd done to him once again.
He jumped up and shook his popcorn-ed hair like a dog attempting to dry itself. "Oh you assholes! Again, really?" He moaned, walking into the bathroom to try and fix his hair. The girls giggled at one another and high-fived, as they heard Steve shout from the bathroom.
After about fifteen minutes, Steve trudged back in with soggy hair. "Better sleep with one eye open tonight you two!" He scolded, hands on hips.
The girls just chuckled in his face, not finding him intimidating when water droplets were cascading down his face and dripping from his nose.
Sally had noticed Steve's mood drop significantly after him and Nancy's breakup, especially when he'd seen her becoming close with Jonathan Byers. So seeing him smiling and having fun with them made her heart warm.
The trio all fell asleep pretty early that night, either it was the dancing and the singing they'd been doing whilst watching Top of the Pops, or the fact that Steve unnervingly had the most comfiest sofa in the entire world. It didn't matter, for Sally it was the perfect night away from home.
She hadn't told her friends the extent of her home life, no matter how close she was with them. Of course they knew about the quarrels, due to them happening whilst they were on the phone to each-other or at school. But she'd never uttered a syllable about how things would get smashed, or how she'd sometimes make Max sleep in the same room as her because she was worried something might happen.
None of this was directed fully at her though, she always wondered why.

Per usual, the schools parking lot was was chaotic, horns beeping as students walked right in front of cars, aimlessly chatting without a care in the world.
When they finally parked up, Sally jumped out of the car and made her way over to Robin who had rang her that morning saying she had big news. Her interest has been piqued.
Robin was sat on a bench near the entrance, the same one Eddie was sat on last week she'd remembered randomly, and was looking down at a notepad in concentration. "Oh you're here!" She said when she'd noticed Sally sitting down to her left.
