EDDIE WAS SWIFTLY DRAGGED TO THE PRINCIPLES OFFICE. He'd made a theatric of it all, holding his hands out as if they were to be cuffed.
Sally was asked to join too, albeit more calmly. The two sat in the outdated office, repulsively looking around at the peach themed decor and mustard patterned wallpaper.
Their principal, Mrs Murphy had terrible taste, even style. No one thought much of the middle aged woman that ran the school, she wasn't spiteful or malicious, she had a good-natured aroma when they saw her walk the halls- but no one ever bothered to become acquainted.
Clearly Sally hadn't been that observant, when the door opened from behind them, Eddie's smile grew wider as he slumped back a little more, watching her sit down at her pristine desk.
"Back again Mr Munson?" Mrs Murphy raised her eyebrow, scanning the incident paper.
"I knew you missed me" He winked as the older woman placed down the paper with slight shake of her head.
Sally sat there in silence, watching the two interact. She'd never been intimidated by a teacher, finding their superiority complex ridiculous, but it was her first time being in the principles office, so anticipation was high. All she could think about is what her parents would think if she'd get into trouble, how Neil would react.
Mrs Murphy moved Sally into her eye-line, looking deep in thought. "Ms Mayfield" She acknowledged her with a small smile. "Would you like to tell me your side of the story? Seeing as Mr Hagan had a lot to say" She now looked between them, "You two being the prime subject of the conversation"
Sally looked to Eddie who was already staring at her with a curious look, she didn't want to get him into any trouble. She cleared her throat and sat up straight. "Tommy was saying things about me, that weren't true"
"So Mr Hagan instigated this?"
She nodded, racking her brain for something to say to get Eddie into the clear.
"So why did you get involved Mr Munson?"
"Because he's an asshole" He shrugged, not caring for the consequences.
"So you threw the first punch?" Mrs Murphy inquisitively asked, ignoring his profanity.
"Of course I did, did you expect me to stand there and watch him slut shame Sal? He needed to shut the fuck up" He leant forward, Sally looking down at her hands now, knowing she couldn't help him if he wasn't helping himself.
"Anything you'd like to add Ms Mayfield?"
Sally glanced to Eddie with pursed lips, a little agitated at the now inevitable punishment. "Well you can clearly see Tommy fought back, it was a fair fight and he deserves an equal punishment"
After a moment of thought, her principal dismissed her so she could talk with Eddie alone, most likely being the said punishment.
She waited for at least half an hour by Eddie's van, not in the mood for the school day now. She was tired and grumpy, the look on her face proved it.
A chirpy Eddie sauntered out of the front doors and up to his van, an unlit cigarette hanging out of his mouth. He noticed Sally leaning against his van and gave her a smile that wasn't reciprocated.
"Two weeks suspension" He uttered after lighting his cigarette.
"Yeah, well done" She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "You need to be in school so you can graduate Eddie"
He snorted a little, his nonchalance irritating her. "Yeah it'll be fine, I've got you remember" He winked as she scoffed.
"What, you think I'll come over everyday after school to help you catch up on the work you've missed?" She said with a satire tone.
