IN THE END, THE HARRINGTON BOYS PARENTS FORGAVE HIM. It took Steve picking up many more shifts than usual to pay back the debt from fixing the gaping hole in the wall. Sally had softened the blow originally, convincing them that it wasn't a full blown party, just a few friends.
Several weeks had passed, she'd celebrated her birthday, only having the closest people to her there with her, and she'd started saving for her very own car, being able to use her mothers for now. Like Steve, she'd picked up some extra shifts.
Scoops Ahoy was packed, mostly with children on their summer break. Sally had to constantly bite her tongue as one of them would squeal or clumsily spill something on the floor for the second time.
It was almost impossible to keep her expression complacent as Lucas Sinclair's little sister decided she wanted to taste every single flavour of ice cream, still being indecisive as she finished them all.
Her shifts hadn't been too bad, especially when she got to watch Steve shamelessly, and terribly, flirt with the customers that walked in every other day. Being shut down once again, he huffed, blaming his rejections on the sailors hat, he hadn't stopped moaning about it, she didn't think it would ever stop.
"Hey, dingus" Robin called through the little window between the cashier and the back room. "You wanna add to the tally or shall I?" She smirked, holding up the white board where she'd marked the amount of rejections he'd had throughout the weeks of working there.
Steve shook his head, flinging his hat off towards the counter and ruffling his hair up again. Sally chuckled under her breath, sympathising for him, but still finding it quite amusing. He deserved someone, but in her experience, those types of things came when you least expected it.
With a sigh, she went into the backroom to check the time, her mood lifting as her shift was ending soon. She passed the time by picking up the stock deliveries and stacking them into the freezer or assigned cupboards, quite monotonous, but easy. Whilst aimlessly chatting with Robin, they heard the bell relentlessly being rung beside the front cashier.
With a frown, she opened the shutters and peeked her head through to see what Steve was doing, finding him with his hands on his waist staring at the group in-front of him. A distressed Eddie stood there, surrounded by Max and her friends, all with wide grins on their faces.
"Please take them off of me" He groaned, noticing Sally's curious look behind the makeshift window.
"Don't get caught" Steve glared at them, specifically pointing to Mike as he'd made it quite obvious the last time he'd snuck into the movie theatre.
"Thanks for the ride!" They all waved at Eddie and began to walk into the backroom, knocking into Sally as she was halfway walking through the door.
She chuckled as he half heartedly waved them goodbye. "Why are you hanging around with a bunch of kids?"
"Your sister practically begged me to drive her here, and seeing as I was on my way, I didn't think it was a bad idea" He started, forearms on the counter now. "Until they all walked out of the door"
Sally jutted her bottom lip out, feigning sympathy. "Ready to go?" She began to pick up her belongings from underneath the counter, thankful her long shift was ending.
His lips tugged up into a smile as he leant off of the counter. Swiftly, she said her farewells and walked hand in hand outside to the malls parking lot and towards Eddie's van. Even though she now had her driving licence, he still found any excuse to pick her up and drive her around places, her very own chauffeur. She'd pledged that one day she'd drive his van, it would take a lot of convincing though.
