Beth's POV:

"You're actually engaged?!" I asked excitedly.

"Yeah I am. Josie said yes." Noah said and his smile was blinding.

"That's amazing Noah!" I said and smiled just as brightly.

Silence came and his expression turned serious.

"I didn't do it with grandma's ring though." He said a little less enthusiased.

"Why wouldn't you?! I gave you the ring solely for that reason." I said annoyed.

"Beth, dad gave it to you. You are meant to use it. Not me." He said thoughtfully.

"Noah, it's a family heirloom. And as far as I am concerned, that includes you. You're so stupid you should have done it with grandma's ring." I said sighing.

"You can have it for one day." He winked.

"Sure. Maybe if we would stop being so awkward around each other. Not only me and her. All of us can't seem to find our flow again." I said.

"So I shouldn't invite them to my wedding?" He asked jokingly.

"That is completely your choice. Do you want them there?" I asked him honestly.

He seemed to ponder the idea and then sighed, "I'm not sure..."

"Well... don't consider me when you think about wanting them there. Just consider yourself for once." I suggested.

"As if I could forget what they did to you." He scoffed.

"Just try." I said rolling my eyes jokingly.

He then once again grew quiet as he thought about it.

I stayed silent as well and waited patiently for him to make up his mind.

"I... I think that I want them there. If I'm being honest. Besides them and their siblings I don't have many friends. Colleagues sure. But despite their mistakes, they are the best friends I ever had." He admitted.

I smiled weakly, "They are aren't they." I said quietly.

"I think I will also invite their siblings. Y'know, Jonnie, Caitlin, Karl, Sairah and so on." He said.

"Well is Josie with you? I need to ask her how you made a fool out of yourself." I joked.

He pulled a grimace at me and said, "She is at work right now. I'll call you later when she's back?" He asked.

I nodded, "Sure. So I'll keep quiet about the wedding until you invite them yourself right?" I asked.

"Yeah that'd be more polite." He said.

We bid our goodbyes and ended our call.

I sighed and looked out at the dark sky. They are all probably asleep right now.

I'm thinking of moving back to the UK. Since I'm done avoiding them anyway. Plus I promised Noah and Sam that I would be there for them soon. Noah will be married, Sam is ready to tackle motherhood.

I obviously want to be there for all of those things. The wedding planning with Noah, helping him get a suit, helping financially if needed.

I'm just not sure how I feel right now. Both of them are married and probably soon gonna be parents. I'm gonna be thirty soon and achieved none of those things.

Granted, I had nothing but a mess in my mind, but still.

Using my crutches to get to my bed was annoying, but it's my mistake for choosing to sit by my window instead of immediately lying down in bed.

I just hope that soon my heart is gonna be able to let go of the grudge I have.

****************

The next morning was a pretty regular one. They have been staying here for a few weeks now and I guess you could say it has become a little too dense in here.

They didn't really have much to do here in America. All of their other friends are in the UK. Plus the whole point of them being here is us bonding again and solving our differences.

To be honest, if it wouldn't be impolite I'd have told them a long time ago to just go home. Obviously it's not really useful if we do it like this.

I can also tell that they miss England. Their family, friends, the food and the atmosphere there in general.

And their careers. I mean I don't know if they want to pursue them further or stop being solo artists.

I entered the living room where they were seated in silence.

"You know, silence won't really fix anything by itself." I mentioned sitting down on a vacant seat.

"What could we possibly talk about? We told our tales after all." Leigh asked.

I sighed, "I don't know. If we're being honest we know near nothing about out lives at the moment. Though mine has clearly been uninteresting ever since. You guys became solo acts. You can talk about that in front of me you know. It's no secret that I listened to each of your debuts." I said honestly.

"Tell us what you thought about them?" Jade requested.

I frowned, "I'm not gonna start judging your music. I'm not Simon who thinks he has a right to judge and control the art of other people." I said.

"You don't have to judge it. Just tell us your real thoughts." Jesy said.

Something I have been picking up on quite a lot lately is that Perrie doesn't really talk to me. I know she still feels bad, as she should honestly, but I can't make the first move here. It's her turn.

Sighing I opened up Spotify, "Fine, but I'm not gonna rate best to worse or something." I said.

I started out with Jesy's debut.

"The beat was sick. The sample choice was genius. The lyrics were simple but catchy. And obviously you sound amazing." I said.

Jesy had a light smile on her face and thanked me quietly.

I continued with Leigh.

"Honestly, with you Leigh I didn't know what genre you'd pick. I could just imagine any genre for you, but it's safe to say that you completely slayed this genre. It's a song talking about the audacity of men, like go off?" I said.

Leigh chuckled lightly and said, "Thank you Beth."

I smiled at her and carried on with Jade.

"You fucking broke my heart. Your voice broke my heart and the lyrics? God. That song damaged me I heard it once and never again. I'm still healing." I said.

Apparently Jade thought that was criticism so I added, "But that is exactly what I want from a song like that. Your voice Jade! I never heard you sing like that but you can gladly do it again."

Then she smiled and said, "Hun, you know how I love breaking people's heart." Throwing her hair over her shoulder.

I chuckled a little and Perrie's song, in comparison to theirs, was a little too much about our situation.

"Yeah well, let's just say those lyrics were on point. I know it hurt you from the inside. And I know you wouldn't have ever done that hadn't something else been eating at you from the inside." I said looking deeply into her blue eyes.

Jade cleared her throat, "Yeah I think we want to take a walk." She said looking at Leigh and Jesy.

"Absolutely." Leigh agreed and Jesy nodded.

They left wordlessly and finally Perrie and I were gonna talk about how everything went downhill.
