Chapter 4

College is not easy pala talaga. I need to focus kasi habang tumatagal nare-realize kong my course is not gonna be really easy at nagiging mahirap na siya. Hindi ko napapansin nitong mga nakaraan dahil busy ako sa pag-iisip kung paano ako magkakaroon ng kaibigan.

But now that I'm starting to wake up in my reality, maths are everywhere! And guess what? Hindi ako magaling sa subject na iyon kaya before a quiz occurs, cramming is real.

I only get two to three hours sleep dahil magdamag akong gumagawa ng plates or nag-s-self study ng lessons. Magkatabi kami ni Rhianna sa living room, siya nakatutok sa laptop at ilang libro habang ako ay gumagawa ng plate.

She needs to be extra careful when entering the living room because if not, my plates on the floor would be ruined. Madami ako roong pendings at kalat na hindi maligpit-ligpit. Ang hirap pala mag-aral.

She was really stressed while memorizing the terms I don't really know. Nursing kasi siya at wala akong alam sa mga ginagawa niya. I don't understand anything related to what she was studying. Nagkakasundo lang kami at nag-uusap kapag magpapa-order na ng midnight snacks.

"You know, Harminder's major is chemistry," I blurted out.

"So?"

"Wala lang. You can ask him kapag nahihirapan ka. Baka matulungan ka niya."

"Goodness. Nagpapaturo ka na nga sa kaniya sa math, sasabay pa ako? Baka pag-untugin na niya tayong dalawa, Lemonade," she said, staring at her laptop intently. "Saka, I can do this."

My eyebrows automatically lifted. Kaya nga niya, pero kulang na lang ay umiyak siya sa harapan ng laptop niya while typing! I was just suggesting a solution to lessen her difficulties kahit papaano.

Ang kaso, I had forgotten the part that Harminder is also struggling to survive his program! Of course, even though he is smart, aware naman ako na nahihirapan din siya. Bigla akong napasimangot sa naisip ko.

"Boo, nakalimutan ko na nahihirapan nga rin pala siya sa program niya. Tapos nagpapaturo pa ako sa kaniya."

"That's my point, tapos gusto mo pa magpatulong din ako sa kaniya. What a heartless friend you are!"

Am I heartless? Pero sometimes lang naman ako magpaturo, a? Actually, before magpaturo, magrereklamo muna ako kasi I don't really understand math! He then will teach me sa part na I was having difficulties. 

I sighed and slowly took my phone on the table and typed.

Ako:

Hello! Are you still awake?

It's just 1:38 AM. He don't sleep really late, but I'm just checking if he's still awake. Just.... What if?

"Okay, hindi na ako magpapatulong sa kaniya. I'm gonna survive math without his help starting tomorrow, Rhianna." Nakasimangot kong sinabi.

I mean, he is great kasi magturo. Mabilis akong natututo kapag tinuturo niya sa akin how to solve a specific problem na hindi ko maintindihan.

I don't want him to think din kasi na I am hard to teach dahil nakakahiya iyon. Nakakahiya sa kaniya kapag naging malaking abala ako. Pero aaminin kong magaling talaga siya magturo. Kaya nga hindi kami paulit-ulit.

I was shocked when my phone vibrated on the table. He replied, and it was really surprising! Baka nagr-review siya now kaya awake pa siya?

Harminder:

No. I typed this while sleeping.

I automatically smiled after I read his reply. Is he a clown?

Ako:
