When Ophelia was invited to Tina's annual Halloween party, she was beyond excited.
Things were finally turning around for her.
Steve finally kissed her- saw her in a different light, and didn't mind actually acknowledging her in public now.
She had more friends than just Jonathan and the younger boys.
She was truly beyond happy.
But that all changed in no time.
One minute she was laughing with her new friends at a party with Steve sneaking glances here and there.
But then he didn't show up in her room later that night. Hell, he didn't even drive her home from the party.
It was like he completely disappeared.
Not only that night but everyday after that.
It's been six days since her birthday before she finally got answers and she had honestly never felt more miserable.
Granted, nothing beat what she felt when she lost her parents but getting her heart broken was a close second.
She was out celebrating her birthday the weekend after with the Byers when she bumped into her new friends who told her the dreaded news that Steve- her Steve was now with Nancy Wheeler.
It made no sense to her.
One minute, Steve was kissing Ophelia and giving her sweet presents and actually showing her off to the world and the next he was with someone else entirely.
According to her lovely friend who thought it best to share the news at a bathroom in the restaurant, whatever it was that was happening with Nancy wasn't a recent thing.
She knew he had been acting different since that party but she didn't realize that the reason he was acting off was because he met Nancy and decided she was better suited for him.
Now instead of being excited about being sixteen like she initially was, she found herself at home with Hopper trying her best to look even a little bit interested in their movie night when all she wanted to do was be in her room and cry her heart out.
She couldn't let Hopper see her like that though. Not if she wanted Steve to live. Then again... did she? Yes. Of course she did.
Luckily for her, Hopper was enjoying the movie too much to notice that she wasn't laughing along with him during the moments that she should've been. Maybe she was just really good at acting? She did enjoy theater for some time.
Before she could start thinking too much about that, they heard that too familiar thump in her room, making Hopper roll his eyes.
"I thought we agreed no interruptions during movie night?"
