A lot changed in a year.

Ophelia was determined to make this year even better than the last- which wouldn't be so hard.

She would no longer be hung up on Steve and instead focused on putting herself out there more. With friends but also romantically.

So, she went from not really talking to anyone to getting to know everyone and finally being seen as something more than 'Steve's next door neighbor'.

It all went good for the long run, until one day unexpectedly, things changed between Ophelia and Jonathan of all people.

They insisted after their first fake dating fiasco that nothing romantic- fake or real, would happen between them again.

But one thing led to another and they decided to give their relationship a try.

It was weird for the others to grasp it when Ophelia told her new friends about the new relationship.

Sure, they were best friends their entire lives but while Ophelia was now more outgoing and putting herself out there socially, Jonathan was still the loner and outcast.

Needless to say, it wasn't a surprise at all when Ophelia showed up to school not too long after they made things official looking like she hadn't slept at all and like she had been crying- probably going through a breakup.

No one questioned it. Hell, her friends even tried to help her feel better by not mentioning Jonathan at all but he remained clueless to all the rumors already rapidly spreading when he got to school late.

"Morning, babe."

The girls were confused when Ophelia welcomed his kiss, letting him wrap his arm around her shoulder.

"Wait. You two didn't break up?"

"Chrissy!"

"I'm sorry! But we were all thinking it."

"We broke up?" Jonathan frowned as he looked at Ophelia, "Did I miss something?"

"No," she gave the girls a look, "They're just obviously delusional."

"We'll give you two alone time to talk."

The girls awkwardly left, leaving Jonathan even more confused, "Am I missing something? Are you going to break up with me?"

"No," she sighed. But she didn't get to say much else when he actually looked at her for the first time, grabbing her face to inspect it.

"Are you okay?"

"Huh?" she shook her head, "Yeah. I'm okay. Why?"

"You just... you don't look well and you seem out of it."

"Honestly? I'm not feeling good at all," she sighed, "I think I'm gonna head home early."

"You want me to come with?"
