You slowly began to regain consciousness. Your eyes felt heavy. You looked around the large cavern you were now in. Beneath you was a patch of buttercups. You frowned softly. They had broken your fall. Well, sort of. As you tried to stand, a sharp pain ached in your side. You lifted your shirt to see a dark bruise forming. There was likely a much worse injury underneath.

The vine that had dragged you down here was no longer attached to you. That was odd. You rubbed your head, hoping to ease the pain you felt there. You looked up, faintly seeing the light from the hole. That seemed like it was the only way out. At least, that was what it seemed like at first. Once your eyes adjusted, you could faintly see a purple archway.

Seeing nowhere to go other than that, you forced yourself to stand and begin your adventure. The room on the other side of the archway was dark and mostly empty. You didn't like it all that much. "Howdy!" A voice called. Startled, you looked around to try to find the source. Was this some sort of prank? "Down here, silly!" It said. You looked down. In the center of the room was a single yellow flower. "What the fuck?!" You yelled, jumping backwards a bit. The flower had a face!

"I'm Flowey! Flowey the flower! You're new to the Underground, aren't 'cha?" The small flower asked. You nodded. Wait, why were you interacting with a flower? What was this place? "Someone 'ought to teach you how things work around here! Hm... I guess little ol' me will have to do!" The flower smiled. You felt uncomfortable.

Your surroundings flickered between black and white and color. Finally, after a few moments, they settled on black and white. You looked around frantically. In front of you was a heart. It looked like a (F/C) gem. Flowey hesitated when it saw the thing. "This is your soul. It's the very culmination of your being! It starts off weak, but it can get stronger if you gain LV." It explained.

You were even more confused now. Flowey seemed to notice. "What's LV, you ask? Why it's LOVE, of course! You want some love, don't you?" It asked. You didn't like this guy. Er.. you weren't sure you could call it a guy, since it was a flower. "Don't worry, I'll share some with you!" It winked. You shivered a little feeling sick.

"Down here, love is shared through little white.. friendliness pellets!" Flowey explained. White bullet-like items appeared near your soul. "All you've gotta do is run into them! Catch as many as you can!" It said, sending the bullets towards your soul. You dodged, not trusting this thing. "Uhm.. buddy. You missed the pellets. Here, try again!" It sounded a little upset, sending more bullets towards your soul.

You dodged yet again. Now Flowey looked even more upset. "Buddy are you fucking braindead? RUN. INTO. THE. BULLETS- uhm- I mean- friendliness pellets!" It sent even more bullets at you, faster than before. You quickly dodged, feeling heavily uncomfortable. "You know what this is, don't you?" It asked. You gulped nervously. "You just wanted to see me suffer." It spat.

You shook your head rapidly, trying to deny this notion. As you did, a circle of bullets surrounded your soul. "DIE." Flowey seethed. Venom soaked through its tone. You closed your eyes and braced for impact, knowing there was nothing you could do. However, the impact never came. Hesitantly, you opened your eyes.

A tall goat woman stood in front of you. Her kind-looking magenta eyes stared down at you. "What a terrible creature, torturing such a poor, innocent youth.." She spoke, sounding almost sad. You backed away slightly. You weren't sure you trusted this lady. "Worry not, my child. I am Toriel, caretaker of the Ruins. Come, I will guide you through the catacombs." She said gently, offering her paw out to you. Hesitantly, you took it.

Toriel lead you through the Ruins, educating you and how battles worked and how to use mercy. She also showed you how the puzzles worked. Everything in this area was ancient, filled with cracks and cobwebs. However, it seemed well-maintained. Greenery was just about everywhere. It was healthy and thriving.

"You have done excellently thus far, my child. However, I have a difficult request to ask of you. You must walk to the end of this room alone. I am sorry for this." Toriel said, quickly walking off and out of your view. You walked slowly across the room. This was supposed to be difficult? When you got to the end of the room, Toriel stepped out from behind a pillar. "Worry not, my child, for I did not leave you. I was merely behind this pillar the whole time." She smiled.

You thought it was cute. Toriel seemed very sweet. "There was an important reason for this exercise; to test your independence. I have some important business to attend to and must leave you alone for a while." She explained, leaning down to your height. She lit up for a moment. "Aha! I will give you a cell phone! That way, you can call me if you need help." She pulled an old-looking phone out of her pocket and handed it to you.

"Don't leave this room, okay? I will be back shortly." Toriel said, patting your head and leaving the room. You waited around for a while, sitting on the faded purple floor of the Ruins. Eventually, you got bored, deciding that you couldn't sit around any longer. You stood up and left the room, off to explore the rest of the Ruins.
