Throughout the battle, you refused to fight Toriel. You tried to convince her to let you go. It turned out that she couldn't hurt you either. Eventually, she gave up and let you spare her. "It's pathetic, is it not? I cannot save even a single child." She said, smiling sadly. You hugged onto her, wanting to wish her one last goodbye. Her warm arms wrapped around you. "(Y/N), please stay safe out there. I don't want to lose another child." Tears slipped down Toriel's face. You rubbed her back comfortingly.

"Don't worry, Toriel. I'm going to stay safe, I promise." You replied, feeling a few of her tears soak into your shirt. She smiled. "Good luck, my child. I believe in you." She stood up and left the room, not daring to take another glance. You looked back down the hallway before opening the large purple door and stepping through.

On the other side waited a familiar flower. "I bet you feel sooo great. You spared the life of a single person. Well, in this world, it's kill or be killed. So, you were able to play by your own rules. But what will you do when you meet a relentless killer? Will you kill out of frustration? Or will you simply give up and finally give control of the timeline to ME?" You were confused. Timeline? What was Flowey talking about?

"I am the prince of this world's future. Oh, but don't worry, my little monarch~ my plan isn't regicide. Until next time!" Before you could get a word in, Flowey disappeared into the ground. Disturbed and a bit shaken, you continued on. As you exited the Ruins, snow began to crunch beneath your feet. Trees were everywhere you looked.

This was Snowdin, one of the places you had read about. It was beautiful and serene. Quiet. You walked along, vaguely scanning your surroudings. A large branch stood in your path. You carefully stepped over it, wanting to avoid making too much noise. You continued walking, wanting to get as far as possible. Suddenly, something snapped. You turned around to see the branch snapped in half as if it were nothing. You stiffened slightly, turning forward again and beginning to walk faster.

Footsteps began behind you. Fear welled up in your stomach and you quickened your pace. Eventually, you came upon a small bridge. You froze. The person was right behind you.

"Come on, don't you know how to greet a new pal? Turn around, and shake my hand."

Trembling, you turned around and reached for the figure's hand. You felt a rubbery texture against your hand as a fart sound came to your ears. "Heh. The old whoopee cushion in the hand trick." The figure spoke. "It's always funny!" You interrupted, chuckling. The figure seemed confused for a moment, but they brushed it off. "Anyway, the name's Sans. Sans the skeleton. And you're a human, right?" Sans asked. You nodded.

"That's hilarious. I'm actually supposed to be on watch for humans right now, but I don't care about capturing anybody." Sans explained. You did a double-take. They had monsters actively looking for humans? Oh, god... "My brother Papyrus, on the other hand, he's a human-hunting FANATIC." You got anxious. Hunting? You didn't like the sound of that. "But, uh, don't worry about him." Sans said, probably trying to calm you down.

You and Sans walk across the bridge. In this area is a small sentry station and an oddly-shaped lamp. "Oh shit.. hey, uh, my brother is on his way. Get behind that lamp, okay?" Sans gestured in the direction he wanted you to go. Instead of questioning it, you just went over there. Papyrus showed up soon after.

"SANS!"

"'Sup, bro?"

"YOU KNOW WHAT'S 'SUP' BROTHER! IT'S BEEN THREE WEEKS AND YOU STILL HAVEN'T RECALLIBRATED YOUR PUZZLES!"

"Oh. Sorry, Paps. Guess I've been distracted."

Papyrus sighed.

"FINE. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET IT DONE SOON. WE NEED TO BE PREPARED FOR IF A HUMAN COMES THROUGH HERE."

"Yep, you got it. Puzzles will be recallibrated. But right now, I'm on break."

"WHAT?! THAT'S WHAT YOU SAID AN HOUR AGO!"

"Well, I'm on break again."

"NONSENSE! GET OFF OF YOUR LAZY BUM AND HELP ME!"

"Sure thing, Paps."

"... THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT."

"It's not?"

"NO! GET BACK ON YOUR FEET!"

Sans chuckled. You laughed softly along with him. You weren't too sure what the joke had been, but you didn't mind.

"Alright, alright."

It was freezing out here. You definitely weren't dressed for the occasion. Your body started to feel off.

"GOOD. NOW, I MUST GO AND FIX MY PUZZLES."

"Yep. You do that."

You started to feel warm. It was too hot. You were sleepy. You didn't understand what was going on.

"WAIT. WHAT WAS THAT?"

"What was what?"

"YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!"

Listening to their bickering wasn't helping you keep conscious. Eventually, you gave in, letting your eyes close. You wanted to rest.

You woke up somewhere warm and cozy, a light blanket covering you. "SANS, THE HUMAN IS AWAKE." Papyrus said. You flinched a little, wondering if he was always this loud. Sans appeared in front of you. "Hey kid, you okay?" He asked. You nodded, snuggling up into the blanket. He seemed a little relieved. "Good, glad to hear it." He said, relaxing. You stayed comfortable, not wanting to get up quite yet.

"HUMAN?" Papyrus asked. You looked up. "Hm? Yes, Papyrus?" You replied, rubbing your eyes. He seemed surprised. "YOU... YOU KNOW MY NAME?" He seemed shocked. You nodded. "COULD IT BE THAT I... HAVE A FAN? OH MY! I MUST GO TELL UNDYNE!" He exclaimed, quickly leaving the house.

Sans chuckled. "Heh. My brother's real cool, isn't he?" He asked. You smiled softly, nodding. "He's sweet." You replied. Sans seemed like he was struggling to think of a conversation topic. "So, uh.. how long have you been in the underground?" He questioned, leaning on the arm of the couch. That was actually something you hadn't thought about yet. "A few days, I think? I'm not sure..." You replied, looking away. Sans nodded. "Yeah, time passes weirdly here. You'll get used to it." He said. You figured he was trying to comfort you. That was sweet of him.
