You stood in the doorway, arms crossed over your chest. "Accident, huh?" You asked, venom seeping through your tone. Sans took a small step back. "Oh- kid. I uh.. didn't know you were listening." He said nervously. That somehow only made you more upset. "Of course I was listening!" You shot back.

Frisk tried to step in. "(Y/N), look-" They started, but you didn't want any of it. "Enough with the excuses. I want all of this shit explained to me. Now." You demanded. The two nodded, too afraid of your wrath to disobey. "Now, what is this timeline stuff?" You asked.

"Well, essentially, each timeline is a different string of events. Frisk has the ability to, uhm, reset these timelines at will. Y'know, in case they die or something. They can go back and try again as many times as they want. But, each time they do a full reset, they come back slightly different." Sans tried to explain. You were in shock. "And Frisk is always the only one..?" You asked, trying to make sense of it all.

Frisk nodded. "This is the first timeline with someone new." They said. You looked between Frisk and Sans. "Who else knows about this? The timelines?" You questioned. The two were quiet for a second. "The only ones are the kid, Flowey, and me." Sans answered. So everyone else was re-living the same things over and over again without even knowing? That made you feel sick. "I... I need to go. I'll be back." You said, quickly turning around and leaving the house.

"(Y/N), wait!" Sans called, but it was already too late. You ran outside, into the forest. You felt safer there right now. Tears slipped down your cheeks. You weren't quite sure why, but this hurt you. Sans kept such a huge secret from you. Well, you supposed it made sense, but still. You thought the two of you were closer than that. You thought you meant more than that.

Did Sans and Frisk really think you were just an accident? Someone who wasn't meant to exist? You hugged onto yourself, sitting against a tree. Right now, you just wanted to be alone. Away from everyone. You needed to think about this. Take time to fully understand what the hell was going on.

You supposed the whole timelines thing made sense, even if it was a bit farfetched. It lined up with what Flowey had told you in the beginning, so it made the concept a bit easier to believe. You wondered how many timelines everyone had been forced to endure. It must've been a lot. Though, since they couldn't remember, maybe it wasn't as bad. You could only imagine what it must be like to have to endure countless timelines and remember every single one.

Maybe that was why Sans didn't tell you. He didn't want to burden you with his trauma. You felt stupid now. You shouldn't have run out like that. You got up, walking back to the house. Frisk wasn't there anymore, and Sans was nowhere to be seen. You tried to call him, but no one picked up.

You figured your best option would be to distract yourself until you could find one of them. Right now, that was your easiest option. So, you walked back through Waterfall. But this time, you decided you wanted to explore further. You wanted to go all the way past Waterfall and into the next area. So, that's what you did.

Beads of sweat formed on your forehead as you entered the next area. Convieniently, it was named Hotlands. You'd never been here before, but you had read about it at Toriel's. You felt a little sad when you thought about her, but you tried to ignore it. She would probably be happy to hear that you had come this far.

Pushing those thoughts aside, you got back to the matter at hand. In front of you stood a large labratory, labelled 'Lab.' You walked over and knocked on the door, wanting to escape the heat. Luckily, the door opened. There was no one on the other side. You peeked inside at first, wanting to make sure that you weren't intruding. There was no one in sight.

You walked inside the labratory, the cool air easing your slight headache. It was a nice change from the heat outside. You peeked around, quickly finding a large screen. There was only one odd thing about it. The screen showed you. Right now. As if it had been following you the whole time. "What the fuck?!" You shouted, backing up a little. That creeped you out.

A yellow lizard creature appeared from a side room, startled to see you. "O-Oh! I didn't t-think you'd be here so soon!" They said, clearly a little panicked. "I h-haven't showered, I'm barely d-dressed- I'm not ready for visitors!" You felt a little bad for barging in now. You looked down at your hands. "Uhm... I'm sorry for barging in. The door opened on its own, so I thought you knew I was here." You explained, hoping that the lizard creature would understand.

Thankfully, they did. "Oh, darn! I knew I sh-should've changed the settings on that thing..." They trailed off, adjusting their glasses. You smiled softly. "I'm (Y/N), by the way." You introduce, holding out your hand for the lizard creature to shake. They take your hand. "I-I'm Alphys. I'm the royal scientist." She replies shyly. You can see her modesty clear as day.

The two of you get to talking, and you have a relatively nice time. Alphys seems really sweet. You were glad you took this little trip. Plus, it gave you time to get over what had happened properly, so you weren't upset anymore. That would make facing Sans and Frisk later a lot easier.

You were glad that you weren't upset anymore. Plus, they probably had their reasons for hiding things from you. Maybe it was safer if you didn't know. You weren't sure. You would have to ask about it later. All of this was still very new to you. It barely made any sense.
