You walked back to Snowdin quietly, feeling guilt consume you. You shouldn't have had that outburst. Oh, well. Now you had to make up for it. As Sans' house got closer, you felt worse. You needed to apologize, which was something you were never good at. You walked inside. Sans was sitting on the couch. He seemed upset. Frisk was nowhere to be seen.
"Hey, uhm, Sans..?" You asked, trying to catch his attention. He looked over. It didn't last. He quickly looked away again. He seemed upset. "I wanted to apologize. I... I shouldn't have acted like that." You said, walking closer. Still no reaction from Sans. "I overreacted. It was an accident." You continued, now standing beside him.
Finally, Sans looked at you. He seemed solemn. "Accident, huh?" He asked, mimicking your works. You nodded. "I really am sorry..." You muttered, feeling bad. Sans thought about your apology for a moment. "You know what, kid.." He started, worrying you a little. He still seemed upset. "It's snow problem." He said, smiling. He shot a cheap wink your way.
"Sans!" You shouted playfully, mock upset with him. "What? Just having a little fun." He replied, stupidly smug. You lightly hit his arm and looked away. "I hate you." You lied, being petty. Sans found that amusing. "Hate me, huh?" He questioned, standing up and moving to be in your view again.
"Yes. I hate you." You repeated, standing your ground. Sans chuckled. "Sure you do, kid." He dropped the subject, walking up to his room. You weren't expecting that. You moved to follow him. "Wh- Sans! Come back!" You said, following him up to his room. He glanced back at you for a brief moment, smug as ever. "Y'know, if you hate me so much, why did you follow me?" He asked, turning around to look at you.
You didn't have a response. "Well- I-" You stuttered, trying to think of something. Sans found that even funnier. "With that attitude, I might even assume you're in love with me or something." He joked. Your heart skipped a beat. What? In love with Sans? That couldn't be right. He was a nice guy, sure, but you weren't in love.
... were you?
You shook those thoughts away. That didn't matter right now. "Hey.. you okay, kid?" Sans asked, waving his hand in front of your face. You rolled your eyes. "Never been better." You answered, trying to match his smug attitude from earlier. He seemed to get a kick out of that. "For a second there I thought you might actually love me." He chuckled.
You laughed awkwardly along with him. Right. Being in love with a monster would be silly, wouldn't it? Besides, you'd only been here a few days. You were just being ridiculous. There was no way that you were actually in love with Sans. It was a stupid idea to even consider. I mean who would want that? A lazy-ass skeleton as a boyfriend. Yeah, right.
"You wish." You scoffed, rolling your eyes playfully. Sans pretended to be hurt by that statement. "Yeah? And just what makes you think that?" He asked. You thought about it quickly, needing a comeback. "Don't think I haven't noticed. You're infatuated with me. I catch you staring at me all of the time. Don't forget that you opted for both of us to sleep in the same bed." You defended. To be honest, you made some of that up, but it didn't matter.
Sans' face fell for a moment. "You.. you noticed?" He asked softly. You were taken aback. What? "I thought I was being so careful..." Sans seemed genuine now. You were confused. Was he actually in love with you? "Sans..." You started, not knowing what to say. Then, out of nowhere, Sans started to laugh.
"You should've seen the look on your face, kid!" Sans exclaimed. He was getting a real kick out of this. You felt embarrassed now for believing him. "Oh, shut up!" You shot back, your face heating up. Sans found that pretty amusing, but he stopped messing with you for now. That was a good thing, since you needed a second to stop being so embarrassed.
Sans was still smug, but he didn't say anything. You could sense his smirk without even looking at him. "Cut it out." You spat, walking back downstairs. Sans stayed where he was, leaning on the railing. "Cut what out?" He asked playfully, looking down at you. You huffed. "Quit teasing me, damnit!" You said, crossing your arms and flopping down onto the couch. Sans teleported beside you.
"Aww, you don't mind it that much, do ya?" Sans asked, leaning forward to look into your eyes. You turned away. "So what if I do?" You replied, upset. Sans rolled his eyelights. "Come on, kid. Let's go to Grillby's. My treat." He said, holding his hand out to you. Immediately, you felt better. You lit up, taking his hand. Sans chuckled, finding your quick switch in mood entertaining.
The two of you walked to Grillby's this time, hand in hand. You didn't notice until you reached the door. Your cheeks warmed up. How could you not notice something as simple as that? You tried to ignore it as you and Sans walked to the bar. Grillby turned to look at the two of you, polishing a glass. "How can I help you today?" The fire elemental asked, adjusting his glasses.
Sans leaned on the bar. "My usual will do just fine. You, kid?" He turned to look at you. Nervously, you ordered. You had never been good at ordering for yourself, but you managed. "So, why'd you take me here?" You asked, looking down at Sans. He shrugged. "It was one of the only things that would cheer you up." He reasoned. You supposed that made sense. You'd have to thank him for being so caring later.
Grillby quickly came back with your guys' order. He seemed like a nice guy. Maybe you'd come here alone sometime and get to know him. Yeah.. that sounded good. You'd do that soon. You weren't sure when, but soon was good enough for you. "So? Was I right? Are you feeling better?" Sans asked in an almost playful tone, nudging your shoulder. You couldn't help smiling. "Yeah, thanks." You replied. You could get used to this.
