It had been a few days since the sleepover. You'd been spending more time with Sans, just like you said you had wanted to. You'd gone on two more dates since last time. Not enough to officially be considered partners or anything. At least, that's what you thought. That didn't really matter, though. Not to you. Your relationship was fine the way it was; without any labels.

You were walking aimlessly through Snowdin forest, waiting for Sans to go on one of his many breaks. You came across the door to the Ruins. Your heart ached a little. You missed Toriel. You tried to ignore the thought, walking back into the forest. The door opened. You quickly turned around, trying to see who had opened it.

Frisk walked out. They were covered in white dust. Monster dust. Your eyes widened. You ran back to Snowdin, now desperate to find Sans. You needed to warn him. You needed to do something. Unfortunately, like every other time you were looking for Sans, he was nowhere to be found. You checked his room, you checked Grillby's, you checked his sentry station, but you still couldn't find him.

You ran to waterfall, figuring he might be at his job there. Finally, you had found him. "S-Sans.." You panted, out of breath. Sans looked over at you, a little surprised. "Kid? What's up? Couldn't wait for me to be on break?" He joked, winking. He saw how shaken you were and his expression dropped. "What's wrong." He asked in a demanding tone.

You tried to regain your breath. "Frisk.. monster dust.." You managed to say, hands shaking a bit. Sans didn't like that. "We need to get Papyrus." He replied, grabbing your hand. He teleported the two of you to Snowdin. You did your best to look for Papyrus, checking every place he normally was. Sans helped out, teleporting around to Undyne's house and such.

"HUMAN, I'M GOING TO BE HONEST WITH YOU." You heard him. Papyrus. You ran towards the sound. "YOU'RE VERY STRANGE... THE WAY YOU SHAMBLE FROM PLACE TO PLACE WITH YOUR DUST-COVERED HANDS." You were almost there. You could almost see him. "BUT, I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WISH TO HELP YOU. I WILL BE YOUR FRIEND." This was bad. This was very bad. You could see them now.

"OH. ARE YOU OFFERING A HUG OF ACCEPTANCE?" Papyrus asked, opening his arms. Frisk's toy knife glinted a little. "Papyrus! Look out!" You yelled, trying to get there the best you could. It was too late. The knife slashed Papyrus. His body turned to dust. All that was left was his head. "WELL.. THIS WAS NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING. WORRY NOT, HUMAN! THE GREAT PAPYRUS STILL BELIEVES IN YOU!" He said, smiling.

Frisk crushed Papyrus' skull beneath his shoe. You covered your mouth with your hand, feeling sick. You couldn't move. Frisk smiled. "Poor naive Papyrus~" They purred, before bursting into laughter. That wasn't Frisk's voice. It was Chara's. They continued to walk, stepping on Papyrus' scarf.

Once they were gone, you could finally move again. You walked up to Papyrus' scarf, falling to your knees. You clutched the scarf in your hand, beginning to cry. This was all your fault. If only you were faster. If only you had been better. You screamed, holding onto the scarf so tight that your knuckles turned white.

Sans heard. He teleported beside you, his gaze going down to the scarf in your hand. He'd seen this too many times before. His hands clenched into fists. "(Y/N). Give me the scarf." He ordered, holding one of his hands out towards you. Hesitantly, you lifted the scarf towards Sans. He took it, not even looking at you. "I'm putting an end to this." He spat.

Shakily, you reached out to him. "S-Sans, wait!" You called. It was too late. He had already teleported away. You sobbed into your hands. Why couldn't you have been better? You get on your feet, knees wobbling. You needed to fix this. You needed to make things right. You needed to find Chara.

So, you searched the Underground. It didn't take you long to find them. They had just gotten through Undyne. Her dust blew across the ground. You followed Chara silently, stalking them from the shadows. You knew you couldn't overpower them, especially not here. You were waiting for the perfect time. Then, maybe, you would have a chance.

You tried not to watch when Chara killed monsters. It made you feel sick. It made you feel worse. Your guilt was overwhelming. Yet, the more guilty you felt, the more you knew you had to beat them. You had to kill Chara. You had to fix everything. Chara came to the core. It was a place you'd never seen before. You didn't care about that right now, though. All you cared about was killing Chara.

All you cared about was fixing your mistakes. It didn't take long for Chara to kill Mettaton. You expected that much. You followed behind him, fists clenched so tight you were sure that you had drawn blood. You didn't care, though. Not one bit.

Chara found the castle. You weren't surprised. They had lived down here, after all. They walked into a long corridor. The same corridor you had been in the first time you saw them. Sans was waiting for Chara. "You fucked up, kid." Sans said, too pissed off to go on with his shitty monologue.

You smiled, grip tightening on Chara's toy knife. They had dropped it a while ago, so it was yours now. This thing had taken lives before, and it was about to do it again. You carefully walked up behind Chara, putting your arm around their neck. You stabbed them in the gut, ripping it out. You stabbed them over and over, getting angrier each time.

Chara threw you off of themself, turning to look at you. They were beyond furious. You laid on the ground, the wind knocked out of you. You scrambled to get up, shaking. You clutched the knife in your hand. You watched with sick satisfaction as Chara's stab wounds bled. That bitch deserved it. They deserved all of the pain they could get.

Chara charged at you, but was quickly interrupted by Sans taking them into a battle. You got angry. Chara was supposed to be your kill. You wanted to watch them bleed out and beg for mercy. Sans and Chara fight for what feels like forever. Your hands twitch in anticipation. You wanted Chara to die already.

Just as you thought that, Chara hit Sans. You watched in horror as he fell down. What? How was that possible? Chara slashed Sans with their knife over and over again, until he was nothing but dust. You felt anger bubble up within you once again. You charged at Chara, slamming them onto the ground. "You bastard." You spat, stabbing them in the shoulder. "You'll pay for that!"

You stabbed Chara again and again, your body taken over by your mindless rage. "Die!" You yelled, unable to stop yourself. Suddenly, you felt that familiar pins and needles sensation. You looked down. Chara had stabbed you while you were distracted. "Looks like I win~" They said, chuckling.

"This is the final timeline. No reset. They're all gone. And it's all your fault." Chara laughed, coughing up a small bit of blood. "Goodbye, (Y/N). Say hi to (P/N) for me, will you?" Chara ripped the knife out of you and stabbed you again, in a fatal place this time.

You open your eyes, horrified by the scene in front of you. Chara stabbed your body a few more times, licking the blood off of their knife. You were dead. You looked down at yourself. But how? What was going on? In front of you, two buttons appeared. One of the two had the word 'continue' on it. It was brightly lit. The other said 'reset'. It was dark and looked like it was broken. You looked at both of them, remembering what Frisk and Sans had said.

If you continue, you would be stuck here with Chara. Either that, or you would be all alone. But, if you reset, you can save everyone. Everyone but yourself. Your soul didn't have enough determination to sustain itself. You considered your options, but you knew deep down what you had to do.

You pressed reset.
