You woke up early that next morning, deciding to explore some more. You got up and left the house, heading for Waterfall. There was an area that you hadn't been to before, but you had heard about. The wishing room. It was filled with magical echo flowers that repeat the last thing they were told. Apparently, if you whisper a wish into one, it's supposed to come true. You liked the thought of that, so you decided to go.
The gravel-like ground of waterfall crunched beneath your feet as you walked. You ran a hand along the wall, feeling its odd texture. It didn't take long for you to reach the wishing room. You sat down in the fluorescent grass. The grass was soft to the touch. It was pleasant. The air carried the scent of the water. You glanced up at Waterfall's crystalline stars, taking in a deep breath. It truly was beautiful. You could see why people would want to make their wishes here.
You tapped a few of the echo flowers near you, wanting to hear the wishes of those who had come here before. Many of them wished for happiness. A few wished to be free. A magic barrier kept all of the monsters underground. That was why they were trapped. You frowned. There had to be some way you could help with that.
You came across another echo flower. You touched it lightly, leaning in to hear its wish. It was Sans. "Heh.. this whole thing is stupid, isn't it? Oh well. I, uh, I wish for everyone to be free. And happy. Y'know, without any more violence. And, uhm... I want Papyrus to get whatever he wishes for. He deserves it." The message said. Tears welled up in your eyes. That was oddly sweet. Especially coming from Sans.
Not that Sans wasn't a nice guy or anything. He just didn't seem like the type to wish for something like that. It was almost cute. You cupped the flower gently. "I hope you get what you wished for, Sans." You said softly, almost hoping the flower didn't hear you. Sans hearing that would be embarrassing.
After you spent a few hours relaxing in the wishing room, you decided it was best to return to Snowdin. Someone was probably worrying about you. So, you made your way back, before deciding to explore the forest a bit. You hadn't done much of that since you got here. Whilst you were on the way, you saw something strange. Another human.
You walked over to them, wanting to greet them. "Hi, I'm (Y/N)!" You said happily. They seemed confused for a moment. They pointed to their throat and then made an x with their fingers. "Oh- you don't talk, do you?" You asked. They shook their head. "Do you know sign?" You questioned. The person nodded.
"Oh, great! I do too! You can just talk to me in sign, okay?" You said, hoping to make a compromise. They nodded. "I'm Frisk." They signed. You smiled. "It's nice to meet you!" You said excitedly. Frisk smiled to show that they felt the same. Feeling a sort of obligation, you showed Frisk around Snowdin. They seemed interested the whole time, curious, like you.
You held Frisk's hand as the two of you walked. You wouldn't want Frisk to get lost, after all. "Hey, Frisk, do you have a place to stay?" You asked, turning to look at them. Frisk shook their head. You frowned slightly. "Well, that's no good... tell you what, I'll ask Sans if you can stay with us!" You tried to problem solve, wanting to help Frisk out. They seemed to like that.
You and Frisk walked to Sans' house together, the snow crunching beneath you. It was a nice day today. You would probably spend some more time outside later. For now, though, you and Frisk had arrived at the house. You walked inside, Frisk following shortly after. Sans was sat on the couch, lazing away.
"Hey, Sans!" You say, catching his attention. He looks over. "Hm? What's up?" He didn't seem too concerned with what was going on. You wondered if he even noticed that Frisk was there. "This is Frisk. I was wondering if maybe they could stay with us for a while?" You asked. Sans nodded, but it didn't seem like he was paying attention. "Yeah, sure. They can stay on the couch or whatever..." He trailed off.
That wasn't a very thought-out plan. "But Sans, I sleep on the couch." You said. Sans was quiet for a second. "Oh, right. You can stay in my room, then." He shrugged. You went a little pink as you realized the implications of that. "Do you even know what you're saying right now?!" You asked. Sans shook his head. "Nope." He replied. You rolled your eyes, turning to Frisk. "He'll come back to his senses soon enough and we can figure things out for real, okay?" You said softly.
Frisk nodded, making you feel a little bit better about this whole incident. Honestly, Sans was probably just tired. This whole thing was something you could worry about later. "Actually, is it okay if I talk with Sans for a second?" Frisk signed. You nodded. "Yeah, of course! I'll be here if you need me, since I'm not sure if Sans knows sign." You replied, smiling. Frisk smiled briefly in return, walking over to Sans. You didn't pay much attention after that.
"Sans. We need to talk. Now." Frisk signed, finally catching the skeleton's attention properly. He rolled his eyelights and stood up, walking with Frisk into the kitchen. "So, what's this about?" Sans asked. Frisk huffed. "You know damn well what this is about." They signed. Sans looked at Frisk for a moment. "Are you actually mute in this timeline, or are you just pretending to fuck with us again?" Sans questioned.
Frisk huffed. "I'm not trying to fuck with you, I just don't like talking. My voice sounds weird in this timeline." They explained with a slight pout. Sans didn't care too much. "You're fine, kid. No one will even know it sounds any different. Now, get to the point." He said, trying to both offer some comfort and get things moving.
It was quiet for a second. "Who is (Y/N)?" Frisk asked, gesturing to the living room. Sans shrugged. "They're (Y/N)." He replied. Frisk got a little frustrated. "No shit. I meant what are they doing here? I'm supposed to be the only human." They explained. Sans thought about it for a second. "I dunno. They're just kinda here. Probably an accident in the timeline or something." He said, offering his best guess.
Frisk didn't like that answer. "Well, yeah, but how?" They questioned. "Aren't you supposed to be the one who knows everything?" Sans wanted to get back to his nap. Not put up with this. "Look, Frisk, I don't know, okay? This hasn't happened before." He said, snapping a little. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a nap to get to." He turned back towards the doorway.
