You and Sans looked at each other anxiously. How were you supposed to do this without getting embarrassed? "You can lay down first..." Sans muttered, looking away. You decided to lay on your side, taking up only the edge of the bed. You didn't want to be in the way. You felt Sans lay down beside you, causing your face to heat up.

Sans shifted a little bit, probably trying to get comfortable. You tried to ignore it, closing your eyes. Your heart was only beating faster. What was going on? You took deep breaths, thinking maybe it would go away. "You okay, kid?" Sans asked quietly, hearing your change in breathing. You turned to face him. Bad idea. Your face got even warmer. "Y-Yeah.. just nervous, I think." You replied, keeping your arms close to your body.

You weren't sure why this was so weird for you. It wasn't like you'd never slept beside Sans before. "Do you want me to get up and wait until you fall asleep?" He questioned, looking at your anxious expression. You shook your head. You couldn't ask Sans to do that. "I'll be okay." You answered, trying to make sure you didn't touch Sans. That would just fluster the both of you. Eventually, you managed to let yourself fall asleep.

It had been a few days since then. Right now, you were on your way back to Hotlands. You wanted to see Alphys again. The better friends you were with everyone, the happier you could be down here. That was your goal. You wanted to be happy. You knocked on the door of the lab, waiting for a response. "Come in!" You heard Alphys say.

You walked inside, looking around. The air-conditioning in the lab was nice. It was definitely better than the sweltering climate outside. "O-Oh! (Y/N)!" Alphys said excitedly. You couldn't help but smile. "Hey! What's up?" You asked, taking a seat in one of her swiveling stools. Alphys was happy to see you. "I've been w-working on my robotic technology r-recently! I think I'm o-on the verge of a breakthrough." She answered, trying to sort through a few papers.

That sounded interesting. You figured it had something to do with Mettaton and his upgraded body. Alphys handed you a paper with a sketch on it. You were right. "I-It's still in the works, but it's g-gonna be great!" She sounded really invested in this. You smiled softly, looking over the paper. The sketch was a little exaggerated, but you figured that was because Alphys probably learned to draw off of anime.

"Yeah, this looks really cool!" You replied, happy to support Alphys. She looked like she wanted to talk more about it. "So, how does it work?" You asked softly. You wanted to encourage her to talk more. Luckily, this worked. "W-Well, it's actually not all that complicated!" She started. You smiled. You knew you were going to be here a while now, but you didn't mind. Seeing Alphys happy was worth it.

Alphys explained how the robotic bodies she built worked for what felt like hours. You listened as intently as you could, though you didn't understand much of what she was saying. "That's the b-basics of it!" She said, finally done. You shifted in your seat, getting comfortable. "That sounds incredible! You really are talented." You replied, leaning forward a little to show you were engaged.

Alphys' face turned bright red. "I-It's nothing, really.. j-just my job." She explained, looking down at the ground. You smiled softly, placing your hand on her shoulder. "You don't have to be so humble, y'know. You're allowed to admit that you're cool." You said, hoping to help her a bit. She seemed a little less embarrassed now. "Y-Yeah.. I am pretty g-great, huh?" She replied, looking up from the ground.

The two of you spent some more time together, talking about various things. It was honestly really nice. You enjoyed spending time with Alphys. Though, you knew you had to head back eventually. "Thanks for letting me spend time with you." You said, getting up from your chair. Alphys seemed a little sad, but you knew she understood.

"T-Thanks for coming over!" Alphys replied, smiling up at you. A small feeling of dread washed over you as you realized you'd have to step out into the heat again. "I'll see you again soon, okay?" You waved softly before you left, the lab door opening automatically in front of you. The wall of heat hit your face. You almost felt like gagging.

Shaking it off, you began your tread back home. You wished you could somehow get through Hotlands faster. Having to walk all the way back to Snowdin was tiring. After a small bit of searching, you found a river. You sat down at the edge of it, staring down at the water. You could rest here for a moment.

A boat made its way to the shore. Looking up, you saw a cloaked figure. "Tra la la. I am the riverman. Or am I the riverwoman..? It doesn't really matter. I love to ride in my boat. Would you care to join me?" They asked, holding out a gloved hand to you. A boat ride sounded nice. You took their hand and they gently helped you onto the boat.

"Where to?" The riverperson questioned. Even though you couldn't see their face, you had a feeling they were staring at you. "Can you take me to Snowdin?" You didn't want to be impolite, so you tried to sound as nice as possible. The riverperson nodded and turned towards the front of the boat, beginning the journey. You waited patiently, scanning your surroundings.

"Tra la la. The angel is coming... Tra la la." The riverperson sang softly. You furrowed your eyebrows. Angel? What angel? "Excuse me?" You asked softly. The riverperson's head slightly turned to face you. "Yes?" They questioned. You could tell they weren't really paying attention to you. "What angel are you talking about?" You could've sworn that sounded familiar. An angel. "The angel of the prophecy. The angel of the delta rune." They explained.

The boat docked. You supposed that was the end of your questions. "Tra la la. Come again sometime." The riverperson said, gesturing to the land. You stepped off the boat, muttering a soft thanks. Now all you could think about was that angel. About the prophecy. Maybe you'd ask Sans. After all, Sans knew most things, he just liked to hide it.
