You felt the sensation of falling again. You were confused. You were supposed to be dead. This wasn't supposed to happen. Your thoughts get interrupted by you hitting the ground. You remember the fall being longer last time. That was weird. You shrugged it off. You could worry about that stuff later.
You sat up slowly, not wanting to hurt yourself. You frowned. You had destroyed the buttercup patch again. A hand went to your side. You were curious if you had bruised yourself like last time. A sharp pain went through you and you winced. Yep, definitely bruised again. Maybe even worse.
You got up, walking into the next room. Flowey was waiting for you. "Howdy, I'm Flowey. Flowey the flower!" It greeted. Honestly, this whole thing was a bit uncanny. You knew that everything repeated the exact same way, but living it was so different. "You're new to the Underground, aren't 'cha?" Flowey asked. You weren't really paying attention to it.
"Someone 'ought to teach you how things work around here! I guess little ol' me with have to do." Flowey said, running through its usual dialogue cycle. You rolled your eyes, going to walk past it. "Wh- hey! Come back!" It called. You pretended you couldn't hear the flower. One of its vines slithered around your ankle, pulling you back over.
Flowey was the one who had dragged you down. That much was clear now. "You're staying right fucking here, (Y/N). Don't think I don't know what you did." Flowey spat. Well, this certainly wasn't good. Flowey pulled you into a battle. Your eyes widen as you look at your soul. There's a large crack down the center. You figured that reset came with a cost, and now you knew what it was.
Flowey's grin widened when it saw the crack. "Oh boy! This'll be fun~" Before you could dodge, Flowey wrapped a vine around your soul. Searing pain ran through your entire body. You screamed. It felt like your blood was on fire. You tried to beg Flowey to stop, but no words would come out of your mouth.
More cracks formed in your soul. With each small crack, your body screamed in pain. You fell to your knees, trembling. "Goodbye, (Y/N)." Flowey said, tightening its grip. Your scream got caught in your throat. Flowey gets blown away as Toriel comes to the rescue. Instantly, your body is filled with relief. You fall onto the ground. "Oh my! You poor child..." Toriel says, gently picking you up. Her touch is warm and comforting. You leaned into her. Toriel's touch felt so nice, you could almost fall asleep right here. So you did.

You woke up in Toriel's house. You were in your room again, gently tucked into the soft blankets. A bandage was wrapped around your side, probably to protect your bruise or something. That wasn't important to you right now. You tried to sit up, but the pain you felt when doing so suggested that you should stay down.
Toriel entered the room a few moments later. "Hello, my child. Are you feeling better?" She asked softly, walking over to the side of your bed. You nodded. "That's good.. oh! I'm afraid I haven't introduced myself. My name is Toriel. I am caretaker of the Ruins." She said, smiling. You looked up at her. "I'm (Y/N)." You introduced. She seemed happy that you talked to her.
"That's a lovely name, my child." Toriel said. You weren't quite sure how to respond. "Unfortunately, there was a reason to this little visit other than introductions." She explained. You frowned slightly. What was it? "I have some errands to run and I must leave you alone for a while. Do you think you can handle that?" Toriel asked. She was worried for your safety. You thought that was sweet of her. You nodded again.
"Alright then. I'll be back as soon as I can. Worry not, my child. Rest well." Toriel said, gently kissing your forehead. A soft smile came to your face. Toriel walked out of the room, sparing one last glance at you. She was afraid to leave you alone. You figured that made sense. You did almost die when she found you. You tried not to think about that part.
After a few minutes, you get up. As much as you wanted to stay here, you had work to do. You walked into the living room, finding a notepad and paper. You write a small note to Toriel explaining that you had left and that you would be safe. Once that was over with, you headed down to the basement. You needed to get out of the Ruins.
The large purple door was just as intimidating as it was the first time. You pushed it open, feeling the cold breeze on your skin. You walk out, eager to find Sans again. You needed to make sure that he, along with everyone else, was okay. The snow crunched beneath you as you walked. It was almost comforting.
You heard the large branch snap. Excitement welled up within you. Finally, you got to the bridge. It was hard to not just turn around as soon as you heard Sans. "Kid, don't you know how to greet an old friend?" He started. You didn't let him finish, though, as you couldn't help yourself. You turned around and hugged him tightly. He smiled.
"Heh. Miss me?" Sans asked in a half-joking tone. You smiled. He never did stop with the jokes, did he? "Of course I did, you dumbass." You punched his shoulder playfully. Unfortunately, both of you knew it was time to move on to the more important topic. "You're the one who did that reset, aren't you, kid," Sans said, looking a little worried.
You nodded. "That reset probably came with a cost, then... can I see your soul? To make sure you're okay?" Sans asked, seeming genuinely concerned. You would feel bad if you didn't let him. "Yeah, go ahead." You replied. You weren't quite sure how the whole soul-summoning thing worked, but you figured Sans knew.
Sans summoned your soul. His eye sockets widened when he saw the cracks. "So... I'm assuming that's not good." You said, partially joking. Sans didn't seem to think that this was a laughing matter. "It's really not good. That thing looks like it could shatter at any minute." He replied, still a little shaken. You froze. That wasn't exactly what you were expecting. "As in I could die?" You asked, a little more than surprised.
Sans nodded in response. You understood why he reacted that way now. "Yikes..." You muttered. That wasn't really the appropriate response, but it was your response. "C'mon, we've gotta reintroduce you to everyone," Sans said, holding his hand out to you. A soft smile came to your face. You missed holding Sans' hand.
The two of you walked through Snowdin to Sans' house. Luckily, Papyrus was there. "Heya Paps." Sans greeted, signaling that he was home. Papyrus looked over from the kitchen. You could vaguely hear some MTT show in the background. Papyrus' gaze landed on you. "OH MY GOD. SANS, A HUMAN!" He said, pointing at you. It was not to snicker.
"Yep. This is (Y/N), I just met them on my patrol." Sans explained. Papyrus seemed excited. "WOWIE! A REAL-LIFE HUMAN!" He exclaimed. It was weird to think that he remembered nothing about the time you spent together. "That's right," Sans replied, sort of wanting to get this over with. He never liked the beginnings of the resets. Remembering things no one else did was tiring.
