You marched through the monotone halls of new home. You were determined to find the souls. You were going to save everyone. You were going to prove that you weren't weak. Your footsteps echoed off of the walls. It was oddly quiet here. The only other place like this in the underground was the ruins. Except, well, it was more colorful there.

Here, everything was gray. It was easy to get lost in the sea of melancholy that lived here. It was a desolate and lonely place with endless corridors and confusing turns. Finally, after what felt like forever, you had made it somewhere. It was a room of caskets. Each one had a different soul painted on the top. You looked over them briefly, sorrow welling up within you. So, this was where Asgore kept the bodies.

One casket caught your eye. It had a red soul on it. Like Frisk's. A soul of determination. You ran your hand over the top of it gently. A thin layer of dust coated your fingers. Below the painting of the soul was a name. It was engraved into the wood of the casket. Your blood ran cold. It was Chara's casket. You let out a deep sigh, staring down at the wooden box. "I'm sorry about what happened to you. I hope that you can find peace someday." You said softly, removing your hand from the surface of the casket.

You left the room, now back to wandering the halls. You felt more determined this time, though. Almost like you knew where you were going. Like someone was guiding you. After a few minutes, you came across a throne room. It was filled with bright yellow buttercups. In the center sat a gold and purple throne. Vines wrapped around its legs and up the back of it. It looked like nature was reclaiming this room. Like no one had been there in years.

In the back of the room was a second throne. However, this one was covered with a sheet. Forgotten to time. In the main throne sat a large monster. He was asleep. That must be Asgore. You crept along the side of the room, careful to not step on the flowers. You didn't want to kill one on accident.

Thankfully, you got through the throne room without trouble. It was easy enough. Asgore was a heavy sleeper. That was when you saw them. The souls. They were kept in glass containers. You stepped closer, letting the light they gave off fill your vision. "Well, well. Look who it is~" A voice cooed. You froze in your tracks, body tensing up.

"What do you want?" You spat, not turning around. The voice giggled. "Oh, y'know~" It replied playfully. "Your soul." Finally, you turned around to face your attacker. Flowey stood a few feet away from you, smug grin on its face. "Not gonna happen, weed." You said, glaring down at the creature.

Flowey only laughed. "And what makes you so sure? Think those puny little souls are going to save you?" It asked, tilting its head to the side. You got into a fighting stance. You weren't taking any bullshit. "Well, I hate to break it to you, (Y/N), but.." Flowey started. Something was wrong. What was going on?

The containers that held the souls shattered. "The souls are under my control now~" Flowey said. Everything was dark for a minute. Then, a towering creature stood in front of you. Something worse than you could've ever imagined. "W..What..?" You muttered, stumbling backward. That thing--which you figured was Flowey--laughed.

"Oh, come on. Don't tell me you didn't know how powerful human souls were?" It asked. The screen it had for a head showed a taunting face. Your eyes narrowed. You weren't sure you could beat this thing, but you had to try. ".. you still want to fight me? Really?" It questioned. You stood your ground. It chuckled. "Okay. But if you lose, your soul is mine~"

And just like that, the battle began. Star-shaped projectiles shot out from two of the creature's many eyes. You dodged to the best of your ability, but couldn't help getting grazed. The second you landed, you were on the move again. Fire swept towards you. A quick roll was enough to avoid that, thankfully.

Until the vines started coming after you. It seemed like no matter how much you ran, no matter how much you dodged, they just kept coming. They just kept snaking after you, reaching out to grab you. Flowey's attacking was relentless. You jumped over another vine, beginning to head a faint buzzing noise. Bugs. Thousands of them. They began to fly towards the giant screen that was Flowey's face.

You ducked down, covering your head with your arms. You could feel them crawling on you. Their legs grazing your skin. You wanted to throw up. You knew you couldn't stay like this. You were vulnerable like this. Gathering your courage, you sprung up. You ran up one of Flowey's vines, managing to make it to the large screen. You kicked it as hard as you could, jumping back down to the ground. "Really? Is that all you've got?" Flowey asked.

A large gun materialized out of nowhere. Your eyes widened. Well, shit. The gun aimed at you. No matter where you moved or how fast, it kept following your movements. You heard it click. You heard the trigger get pulled. You dove out of the way best you could. That seemed to be the strategy. Stay still until it fired.

While you were doing this, you noticed something odd. The screen, which usually showed Flowey's face, was showing a yellow soul. You stopped for a moment. Just long enough to get shot. "Fuck!" You shouted, recoiling. Your wound stung. Bad. But you knew you didn't have time to dwell on it. You looked back up at the screen, but made sure to try to focus on the gun as well. You didn't want to get shot again.

"Look. What happened to you is terrible. What happened to everyone down here is terrible. But killing me isn't going to fix it. I'm trying to help you. Please, trust me. I don't want to hurt you." You tried to reassure, staring up at the yellow soul. The gun fired, but the bullet was different this time. It was green. You reached out to touch it. When you did, euphoria washed over you. All of your pain was gone. Had it.. healed you?

Flowey's face was back again. "You know, you're really bad at this. You should just leave the monster-saving to Frisk." It teased. You rolled your eyes. What did Flowey know, anyway? You ducked as more fire came your way. "Fuck off." You spat, balling your hands up into fists. You were going to win this fight. You had to.

The next attack came. Knives shot at you from every angle. You did your best to avoid them. Looking up at the screen, you saw a bright blue soul. Patience. "I know you still have some free will in there. So please, help me. We can save the monsters. You just have to help me win this fight." You begged.

The knives turned into green bandages. The second they touched you, they disappeared. Warmth and comfort overcame your senses for a brief moment. "Thank you." You muttered, preparing yourself to get back into the fight. Small bombs began to fall from above you. They looked like they had little Flowey faces on them. You did your best to stay out of their way, though you felt small pieces of metal dig themselves into your skin.

Large frying pans appeared above your head. Flames spilled out from them, raining down on where you were standing. This was another soul attack. This soul was green. Kindness. You narrowly avoided the flames, staring up at the screen. "If we work together, we can stop this madness. We can create peace and equality. Isn't that what you want? Isn't that what we all want? Rebel against Flowey. Join me. We'll save everyone." You coaxed.

Before you could get your healing, it was back to Flowey's normal attacks. Bullets shot at you. Fire grazed your skin. Bugs crawled across you. Vines followed your every move. It was all too much. It had you cornered. "Come on, (Y/N). Let me have your soul already. Give up. It's clear you're not going to win." Flowey said. You stared up at the large screen, narrowing you eyes.

"Never." You spat. A thorned vine wrapped tight around your soul. "Fine. If I can't have your soul.." Flowey's grip tightened. You cried out in pain, falling to your knees. "No one can." The pressure became too much. Your soul shattered and you fell to the ground, lifeless.

Looks like you hadn't saved anyone, after all.
