When you woke up, not much was clear. Your vision was blurry. All of the lights seemed blinding. And that wasn't even mentioning the ringing in your ears. You place your hands on the ground. It's cold. It feels like tile. You push against it, trying to lift yourself from the ground. Your arms wobble and you fall. Searing pain hits your stomach. You feel like throwing up. What happened..?
That's when you remembered. Frisk had stabbed you. They had stabbed you in Snowdin forest. But that wasn't where you were now. What was going on? Footsteps approached from the far side of the room. You turned to look, but everything was still blurry. It was a human. A human with a striped sweater. Frisk. "F-Frisk..." You manage to mutter, reaching towards the figure. Your voice is coarse.
"Why d-did you do this..?" You ask, curling up into a little ball. It was the only way to ease the pain. The figure shook its head. "Oh, dear.. I'm sorry, but this isn't Frisk." They say. Their voice is strikingly familiar. You try to look at them, but you can't make out their face. "Who are y-you?" You ask, trying to back up a little bit to protect yourself.
The figure leans down to your height. "The name's Chara. Chara Dreemur." They introduce, smiling. That was one of the only things you could see. Their sickening smile. You blink forcefully, trying to make your vision return. You could've sworn you'd heard that name before. Chara...

It was a rainy day outside. Thunder boomed loudly. You couldn't stop crying. So, your parent had to result to some different methods. They pulled you aside, sitting you down. "It'll be okay, (Y/N). Here, why don't I tell you a story?" They asked, grabbing an old book off of the shelf. You nodded excitedly. Your parent sat down beside you, opening the book. Inside were what must have been hundreds of pictures of your family.
Your parent turned to a familiar page. They were on it, along with a sibling. A sibling with shoulder-length brown hair and reddish-brown eyes. A sibling who wore a green sweater with a yellow stripe. A sibling named Chara. Your parent had told you Chara's story many times. They tried to use it to drown out your adventurous spirit. It had never worked.
Chara had always loved to explore, just like you did. They loved to climb trees, explore caves, and scale mountains. In your hometown, there was a large mountain called Mount Ebott. Chara climbed it one day and never came back. No one knew what happened to them, but you were determined to figure it out.

"What's the matter, (Y/N)? Don't know me?" Chara asked, tilting their head to the side. You could see clearly now. This was the person from the photograph. This was your parent's sibling--your pibling, if you will--the one who had gone missing. You shook your head. "I.. I know you." You managed to say, sitting up. "You used to b-be Chara (L/N). But then, y-you climbed Mount Ebott and fell down h-here."
Chara seemed almost disturbed that you knew that. "What?" They asked, stepping back. "How did you..?" They didn't like this. You used an arm to hold yourself up, staring up at them. "Because I-I'm (Y/N) (L/N). Your nibling." You explained, doing your best to not fall onto the ground.
Chara's expression changed. "My.. family..?" They questioned, walking closer to you. They crouched in front of you. They smiled. "Heh.. you look like (P/N)." They said, holding your chin gently. They seemed almost nostalgic. "I miss them a lot, y'know. I wish I could've come home." They said, tears in their eyes. You felt bad. This whole thing was a big misunderstanding.
A noise of pain escaped you as Chara stood and kicked you in the stomach. "Is that what you thought I'd say? That's fucking pathetic. Humans are worthless, family or not." They spat. You trembled, curling up to protect yourself again. It didn't work. Chara kicked you over and over again. Eventually, the pain became numbing. "S-Stop.. please.." You muttered, feeling sick.
Chara's eyes narrowed. "Mercy doesn't exist for weaklings like you." They said, kicking you harder than before. You threw up, clutching your stomach desperately with your arms. Chara snickered. "I wish (P/N) could see you now. It would be so delicious~" They walked circles around you, looking down at your weak and injured form.
A noise of surprise escaped Chara. You looked up, trying to see what had made them react like that. It was Sans. He had come to save you. "S-Sans..." You muttered, looking up at him with hope. He didn't look at you. He pulled out Chara's soul, turning it blue. He slammed them against the wall with a thud.
Then, finally, Sans walked over to you. "Yikes.. that bastard really did a number on you, huh?" He asked, crouching down to look at you. Not knowing what to do or say, you nodded. Sans frowned. "Listen, I know this is really scary, but you've gotta hang in there, alright?" He comforted, putting his hands on your shoulders. You nodded again.
"I'll fight them off. You just have to stay up until then. Everything will be okay, I promise." Sans said gently, standing back up. You laid your head on the ground. You would do your best to stay conscious. You watched as Chara pulled out a knife. Sans' left eyelight turned blue. The two began to fight.
It was sickening to watch. Though Sans never actually got hit, it got scarily close. You fought to stay awake, hoping with everything you had that this would be okay. It seemed like Chara was winning. That wasn't good. "Don't l-let them get to you! You've got this!" You shouted. Rather, tried to shout. It didn't come out with much volume.
Though, it seemed like Sans heard you. He fought harder. Finally, it seemed like he was winning this. He was winning it for you. He was saving you. He really cared. You felt yourself begin to smile. That was the moment you knew.
You were in love with Sans the skeleton.
