You and Sans spent the day goofing off. Luckily, he agreed to let you stay in his house for a while. So, you spent the night there and slept on the couch. The next morning when you woke up, everyone was gone. You figured that they must've been busy. That didn't bother you too much, though.
Seeing nothing better to do, you explored the rest of Snowdin. It was a mostly quiet place. Nothing too interesting. So, you moved on to explore Waterfall. You explore for a little, checking out the scenery. The light blue gems that are stuck into the ceiling shine like stars. It's a beautiful place.
After a little while, you decide it's time to head back. You begin on your way back to Snowdin, smiling softly. Waterfall was such a serene place. You could spend eternity here. As you were walking, something snapped you out of your thoughts. A bright turquoise spear landed in front of you. A soft yelp escaped you and you stumbled backwards.
You ran back the way you came, through Waterfall. "Come on, punk! You can't run forever!" A voice called. You didn't look back, instead continuing to run blindly through the place. Unfortunately, you came accross a dead end. The figure takes off their helmet and reveals themself to be a blue fish-person. You had read about them in the book at Toriel's house.
"I've got you now, scum!" The fish-person yelled, bringing you into a battle. You gulped nervously. You knew how to fight, but you didn't want to. That wasn't an option. The fish-person continued to relentlessly attack you for what felt like hours. You defended yourself the best you could, but didn't fight back.
Finally, you got the chance to spare the fish-person. They were confused. "Human, what did you do that for?! Any other human would've jumped at the chance to kill me!" They said. You couldn't tell if they were angry or disappointed. "I don't want to hurt anyone. I just... I just want to make everyone happy." You replied. They burst into laughter.
"YOU want to make everyone happy?! Yeah, right! You humans are all the same! You're scum!" The fish-person shouted, making you flinch. Tears welled up in your eyes. You wanted to go home. "Hey, wait- kid, stop crying! I can't take your soul while you're crying! It'll make me feel bad!" They yelled. You curled up into a ball on the ground, covering your ears.
"Quit it already!" The fish-person was getting angry again. You scrambled to your feet, running past them. It took a few turns, but you eventually lost them. You stood at the foot of a statue, tears running down your face. The statue was getting rained on. You looked around for an umbrella, gently placing it in the statue's hand. You smiled softly. Now it wouldn't get rained on anymore.
In the distance, you could hear the fish-person looking for you. Fear struck your heart. You tensed up, curling up beside the statue. Slowly, a soft melody began to play from it. It seemed vaguely familiar. The sweet tune played as you cried and cowered. Eventually, you had recovered. The music had helped you find your center.
"Thank you," You whispered to the statue, though you knew it wasn't truly alive. You carefully made your way back through waterfall, heading back to Snowdin. You were still a bit shaken up from what had happened, but you were stable enough. That was what mattered. You made it back to Sans' house. He was waiting for you on the couch.
"Hey, (Y/N). Where've you been?" Sans asked. You teared up a little. "Just went exploring, that's all." You replied, shrugging off your feelings. Sans didn't look like he believed that. "Hey, kid, I may seem like a jokester, but you can tell me anything, okay?" He said comfortingly. You nodded. "I uh.. went to Waterfall and some stuff happened. I'm okay." You explained.
Sans looked like he already knew what happened. "Ah. So you met Undyne." He said, folding his hands in his lap. "Sorry, I uh.. shoulda warned you." You shook your head. In truth, you didn't mind too much. "Nah, it's okay. I mean, I ended up fine, right?" You smiled softly. Sans shook his head with a smile. "You're ridiculous." He said.
The two of you talked for a little while, just sharing jokes and the like. Then, Sans spoke up. "Hey, how about we go to Grillby's? That's sure to take your mind off of things." He offered. That sounded nice. "Sure!" You replied, getting up. Sans followed suit, opening the door for you. The two of you walked outside.
"Let's go this way, I know a shortcut." Sans said, taking your hand. He walked in the opposite direction of Grillby's. Yet, when you blinked, you two were right in front of the place. Sans led you inside and you both took seats at the bar. "Heya Grillbz." Sans greeted. The fire elemental at the counter looked over from the glass he was polishing. "Hello, Sans. Your usual?" He asked.
Sans nodded. "You know me too well." He chuckled. You smiled softly. The atmosphere of this place was nice. "You want anything, (Y/N)?" Sans asked, turning to look at you. After thinking about it for a moment, you shook your head. "Nah, I'm okay." You replied. He shrugged. "Your loss." He said playfully.
After a few moments, Grillby handed Sans a bottle of ketchup. You thought that was a little odd. That was Sans' usual? You shrugged it off, figuring not to judge his tastes. The two of you spent some time at Grillby's, just sort of hanging out. It was a nice change of pace from getting chased around earlier. Here, you felt safe. Like no one would hurt you.
It was peaceful. You liked peaceful. You figured Sans did too, since he didn't disturb the peace. It was nice. Maybe the two of you should do this again sometime. You would like that. Besides, spending time with Sans was pleasant, so you wouldn't mind it. You should ask him about that later. Spending more time together.
