The Morning After

"Goodmorning students. I'm sure some of you have heard the rumours about the tragic events of last night. Unfortunately the rumours are true. A student was found dead last night on school grounds by two students. We have confirmed this was not a natural death and we do suspect foul play. We don't belive the two students who found the body are involved. There will be no classes today and we are isolating everyone to their dorms until we finish questioning. We are asking any witnesses to come forward" McGonagal announced to the hall.

There were whispers throughout the whole student body and most of the Gryfindoor table were crying. Lilli looked over at the table to see if she could find Seamus. It seemed he had stormed out during the announcement. Lilli's eyes landed on the trio and she noticed a large burn mark on Rose's cheek, her sleeve slipped slightly and before she pulled it back up Lilli noticed a large burn on her arm as well.

"Everybody please head to your dorms, you will not be permitted anywhere in the school including your common rooms. Dinner and lunch will be sent to you at the usual times" McGonagal finished.

The students began to leave the hall and Lilli made her way over to the professors "Professor McGonagal could we speak" she asked politely "Of course" McGonagal nodded. The professor rubbed her arm reassuringly.

"I trust you more then the other professors" Lilli started "Last night when I was waiting with Deans body... I saw someone in the woods, as I told you" Lilli continued "I did check but I didn't find anyone" the Professor explained "Are you sure it wasn't your imagination, you were very distraught"

"Yes I'm sure and that's not all. I shot a spell at the figure and they were set on fire. I know I shouldn't have, but I wanted to catch them. They kept running and I didn't chase because you and Mattheo returned" Lilli took a deep breath "this morning I noticed Rose Murphy had burn marks on the left side of her body, the same place my spell hit" Lilli explained "I understand it's a heavy accusation but its incredibly suspicious, how much do we really know about her?" McGonagal nodded "I will definatly look into it, thank you Lillith" Lilli said goodbye and went up to her dorm.

"Girls day today" Astoria announced as Lilli entered the room.

"Face masks, nail polish, skin care. We are taking our mind off of everything" Astoria smiled. Lilli opened up the map, "Rose is in the forest" she said quietly "What?" Pansy turned to her.
"

Rose is in the forest" Lilli repeated louder.
"Just leave it to the teachers, come sit and I'll do your hair" Astoria smiled.

The girls spent a few hours pampering themselves and listening to music.

Lilli opened up Dorcas Meadows diary to the exact date. She never read ahead, she read a page a day. Following the story and experiencing the other girls life through the pages.

"October 16th" she read aloud. The other two girls sat around her and listened intently.

"Dear diary.

Today was great! We had a quidditch match against the Gryffindoors. We won of course Though James and Sirius played very well and Marlene even better. Merlin she looks hot on that broom. No one played as well as me and Reg though. You should have seen him catch the snitch. I've never seen anything like it, he almost decapitated poor Minnie. We snuck to Hogsmeade afterwards to celebrate. I've never seen Pandora so drunk it was amazing. Barty and Evan must be dating, it's so obvious! I can't wait to attend their wedding one day, it would definitely be an interesting one.
Marlene was rambling on about going to a David Bowie concert over Christmas break. She said all the Gryfindoors were going.
I agreed to go with them. I do like Bowie but I much prefer Queen. I think when I leave this school I'll leave some of my records for the next generation to find.
