22 - The Kindest Kid

Niyaya ko si Beau na bumili kami ng gamot ni Blaire the following day. Lately, palanging sumasama ang pakiramdam ni Blaire. It's no surprise, though. In every pairs of twins that were in my family, may isa talaga sa kanilang sakitin.

My phone vibrated kaya I opened it. Someone texted me, it was Ryler.

Ryler:
Is Blaire doing fine now?

Me:
No, me and Beau are off to buy her some meds.

Ryler:
Okay. Be safe, you two.

Ah, I'll be by Law's shop later.

I turned my phone off after that. Maybe we should swing by the ice cream shop later. Beau told me din kanina na gusto niyang kumain ng ice cream, eh.

I made Beau sit sa baby seat niya, I sat beside him and I told Gerome to start driving, magkasama rin kasi kami ngayon dahil siya lang ang pinasama kong bodyguard para sa 'min ni Beau. Malaki din naman tiwala ko sa kanya.

"Beau, do you want to go to uncle Lawrence's ice cream shop?" tanong ko kay Beau.

"Mhm, mhm!" he hummed and clapped his hands.

Doon na lang kami bibili sa pharmacy na malapit sa shop para makadiretso na kami sa icecream shop kaagad. Beau was busy singing My Little Pony's theme song sa tabi ko.

I laughed when he said he forgot the lyrics, "Why are you singing My Little Pony, hm?" tanong ko.

He said, "Blaire told me she wants to hear me sing it kasi. She said I have a cool voice, mommy!"

I nodded, totoo naman kasing maganda ang boses ni Beau. Mabuti na lang at hindi siya nagmana sa tatay niyang hindi maexplain ang boses kapag kumakanta.

"Well, I hope you sing it for her once we go home. Maybe your voice will heal her!"

"Mhm, I hope!"

Pumasok kami sa shop ni Law and I saw him there with Ryler, while Gerome stayed in the parking lot. They both waved at us. Tumakbo papalapit sa kanila si Beau at kaagad naman siyang binuhat ni Ryler.

Law pinched the little guy's cheeks, "Uncle Law missed you!" he giggled.

Tinignan siya ng masama ni Beau, "I missed uncle Law too, but don't pinch my cheeks please."

Law raised his hands as if he was surrendering kaya napatawa si Beau. He told me that today was on him. Hindi rin daw naman kasi siya nakapunta noong birthday ng kambal.

Beau ate his ice cream happily. Ang cute niya pa naman kumain ng ice cream because he was so careful not to spill any, pero kahit anong effort niya ay may nahuhulog talaga. Mabuti na lang at nilagyan ko ng table napkins ang sa collar niya at sa lap.

Ryler noticed the necklace dangling on Beau's neck kaya tinanong niya si Beau kung pwede niya ba raw iyon makita. Beau stopped eating ang lifted his necklace para makita ni Ryler, pinatanggal niya pa nga iyon sa akin para lang makita ng dalawa.

"Pretty necklace!" tili ni Beau habang ipinapakita sa dalawang lalake ang necklace niya.

Tumago ang dalawa at sabay na nagtanong, "Is that mommy's gift?"

Beau nodded cheerfully, "Mommy said it's from someone... um... 'peshal," he said, nagkamali pa nga sa pagsabi ng 'special'.

Nang inangat ko ang tingin ko, Ryler was staring intensely at me. With one eyebrow lifted, I saw how confused he was. It was as if he was asking me if it was from, well... Blaze.

I nodded.

"Ow," whispered Law, kaya napatingin sa kanya si Beau.

Beau tilted his head, "Is uncle Law hurt?" tanong niya.
