You'd thinking saving the world and being close to death about a hundred times would be the hardest thing in the world. But nope. Guess what it is. Wedding planning. I thought picking a place, a date, and a dress would be so easy. Stephen and I know we want a simple wedding with a small group of guests. Never did I realize all of the small little details that changed the course of literally every little thing that's already set in damn stone. "Whoever decided that centerpieces were a thing deserves a slap in the face."

"We don't need centerpieces, Jodie."

"And what will people say huh? 'Oh, Stephen and Jodie were too cheap to pick out a centerpiece and now I have to stare directly into the eyes of a stranger eating with their mouth open.' No thanks, I'll pass."

Stephen let out a sigh as he continued to look through the wedding magazine I had given him. "You are definitely the only person who thinks like that."

"You are not helping at all." Stephen sat up and set his magazine down on the coffee table. He took the booklet I was looking at and set it in the same spot. "Hey-"

"Just shut up and come here." His assertive tone was with good intent. And I fell into it incredibly fast. My body fell into his embrace and I instantly felt it slip into a relaxed state I was in dire need of. His hand started rubbing up and down my back pushing me further into the state he desperately wanted me to find. "Let's talk about something that's been on my mind rather than yours."

"Oh god, anything please."

Stephen's laugh made my cheeks flush pink at the vibrations from his chest. Being in his arms was everything for me. "Whatever happened to that conversation you needed me alive for?" I was surprised he remembered because I had completed booted it out of my mind to free up space for wedding planning. That was just it though, it didn't matter to me anymore. No more what if's about marriage, kids, life together. Everything I needed to know laid within those two beautiful words "marry me."

"Oh Stephen I don't really think it's important anymore."

"Hey it was important enough for you to threaten killing me after I was already dead so that means it's important enough now."

"But Stephen it's really not, you basically answered all of the questions I had when you asked me to marry you. Or I guess told me you wanted me to marry you. Either way, the proposal was enough for me to move on from it. Because you moved on and now our future can finally start."

Stephen's breathing remained calm while mine rammed up the teeniest bit. I don't know what it was that got me so riled up about a conversation that we no longer needed. Anxiety works in mysterious ways. "I just want to make sure there's nothing left unsaid in this relationship. We're about to take a huge step by becoming legally bound to one another. You're going to be Mrs. Doctor Stephen Strange."

"Mrs. Doctor has such a beautiful ring to it." I turned over and laid my back against Stephen's chest so it was easier to look up at him and stare. Something I've adored doing since we've been together. Well, even since before. There were days during training sessions where I'd stand on the side and just watch him spar with my fellow students. Watching the way he would always surprise them with a tactical move or sometimes one to just show off. The cocky smirk on his face was always evident and made me enjoy my time with even more, though I was just another student of his at the time.

"No one will call you Mrs. Doctor, expect maybe Wong."

"Already changed her nameplate!" Wong shouted when walking by the living room. A defeated look fell on my face as Stephen just laughed.
