she was standing in the crowd of people, unable to find anyone she knew.

she looked around, only to be met with the eyes of her ex-boyfriend, steve harrington.

very curious, she wanted to know if he was alone.

once she looked over, she saw that he wasn't. he was with a girl.

that's when y/n felt her heart break even more.

it sunk.

she sniffed.

they may not have been dating anymore, but it hurt her to know that steve was already moving on.

but the truth was, he wasn't. he only had the girl to have his mind off of the beautiful girl he once dated.

Time Skip

it was the end of the game and y/n was sitting outside.

she heard the door open, but she honestly had no care as to who it was.

the person sat next to her.

she looked over and the mystery person was just steve harrington.

"hey." he finally said after a while of silence.

"hey." she sniffed.

the two sat in silence for a few minutes.

"so." he exhaled.

"so."

"i saw you have a date." she sighed.

"uh, yeah."

"i do."

"cool."

they sat awkwardly as silence washed over them again.

"i just.. i don't get it." steve began.

y/n looked over at him with a puzzled look.

"you.. i can't explain it. why is it me and you are so awkward now? it seemed like even after we broke up we talked more."

she sighed.

"i.."

"it's difficult." she shook her head.

"okay, well how do i word this. you.." he sighed.

"i.. i don't know how to say this."

"you still give me butterflies, y/n. i'm not over you. i can't be over you. you're beautiful, y/n l/n."

she smiled at him.

"i-"

he sighed sharply.

"you-"

"i love you too, steve harrington." y/n smiled.

the two stared into each others eyes before they both leaned in for a kiss.

"i never stopped loving you, y/n." he smiled, grazing his hand on hers.

"me neither. i've always loved you." they put their foreheads together.

"god, i missed you. so much. i can't even explain it to you." he said as he placed his hand in her hair.

"i missed you too." she responded as she put her hands on his face.

she pulled him in for a kiss.

"i love you." she smiled.

"i love you too." he laughed.

"after. our happy ending was after." she said.

"and i will always be here. to love you."

"i know. and i will do the same for you."
