y/n was always used to being left out of conversations in friendships. Nancy would constantly ignore her presence for Barb, then ignore her for Jonathan. She didn't have a reason to have full conversations with the kids, unless it was Dustin; who yes, would pretty much only talk to Steve; her boyfriend and Robin; her close friend. She hadn't ever really felt listened to. That was until she was hanging out with Steve and Robin.

"I don't know, she's nice but she's also mean." Robin said.

"Yeah--" y/n began softly.

"That's good.. or bad, I don't.. I don't know. What do you guys think?"

"Y/N, what do you think?" Steve asked. y/n wasn't used to being asked to talk, or if she wanted to talk, so it took her by surprise that anyone wanted her feedback, and she felt her eyes begin to water. It may had made her look weak, but from her view, it was emotion. She was happy.

"Yeah, Y/N. What do you think? Good, bad?" Robin asked. y/n didn't really know what to do.

"Y/N?" Steve asked.

"Oop. I gotta go. I'll see you guys tomorrow." Robin waved as she ran off.

"Y/N?"

"Hm?"

"Let's talk about this later." He held her hand.

"Okay."

Time Skip

The couple sat on the bed facing each other.

"How come you began to tear up when I wanted to include you in the conversation?" Steve asked the girl. Her eyes began to fill with a bit of tears.

"I just.. I'm used to being left out of conversations. I'm used to feeling.. feeling excluded. Every friendship I've had, I'm usually left out." y/n explained, making Steve frown a bit.

"Trust me, Y/N," He began, grabbing her hand and interlocking his fingers with hers.

"As long as I'm your boyfriend, you won't be excluded." He said, and a sad smile crept onto y/n's face.

"I promise." He pulled her into a big hug, then laying down with her on top of him. He smiled, and pressed a quick kiss to her lips.

"I love you." He said.

"I love you, too." y/n smiled. He kept his arms wrapped around her waist as she fell asleep, her face snuggled into his chest. Slowly, he fell asleep, still holding on to her, as if in the middle of the night she was going to be taken.
