CHAPTER 13

Johen seemed to be a good company. Since the day he drove me out of the neighborhood, we've remained friends He's from the College of Medicine, but we still manage to get together during breaks. We spent time together in the Library and found our favorite spot, just hoping they won't still recognize me after I set an alarm the last time I was there.

Of course, I introduced him to Lori, and as expected, she was still uncomfortable with him. She was stunned to the fact I was befriending with someone else. "It's weird, Flynn. Weird."

"I know, but he seemed nice."

"Okay, fine. Sino ba naman ako para bakuran kita, 'di ba?" she said.

"Lori, you're still my buddy. Keep that in my mind."

We finished our remaining activities before going home. Johen texted me if I could wait for him to finish his class, and I agreed. Masyado pa namang maaga kaya mag-aantay muna ako saglit.

There was a garden was in front of the College of Medicine building and decided to sit and wait on a vacant table. Nainip naman ako sa pag-aantay kaya napaidlip muna ako sa mesa.

It was a peaceful moment until I woke up because an unknown voice. "Found you."

We were already under an umbrella that he was holding for us. Another rain was pouring down again. "Sorry, nakatulog ako, Johen," sabi ko habang inaayos ko saglit ang sarili ko.

"Who's Johen?"

On that moment, I got confused and decided to wake myself again. And then, I realized that the guy in front of me was not Johen. His grin already pissed me off instantly.

Kaagad kong isinukbit ang bag ko at umalis nang pinigilan niya ako. Nakita ko naman si Johen, nakatayo sa tapat ng building at nakatingin sa gawi namin. Tinanggal ko ang kamay niya sa braso ko at tumakbo palabas ng garden, ngunit nakalimutan kong bumubuhos pala ang ulan nang umalis ako sa lilim ng payong niya.

Ramdam ko kaagad ang pagdampi ng bawat patak ng ulan sa balat ko, at isang pamilyar na reaksyon ulit ang nararamdaman ko sa katawan ko. Unti-unti ulit akong binibisita ng bangungot ko ngunit saglit lamang iyon nang isang braso ang pumulupot sa baywang ko at hinatak pabalik sa lilim ng payong.

"Don't ever do that again, Flynn," he whispered that gave chills over my ear.

I stared at Johen, still standing under his umbrella, and hoping he might take me away from him. All those hopes dashed when he gave me a smile and looked away instead, and started to walk out of the place. He just left me.

I had no choice but to let Patrick drag me to his car. This time, I chose to sit on the backseat. Eto ulit ang pagkikita namin simula noong iniwasan ko siya. I was very upset to the fact that I can't ignore him, or he will tell Kuya Alrey again about this.

They are literally treating me like a child, and I'm so tired of getting trapped into this stupid situation.

"So how's life?" he starts to annoy me again.

I didn't dare to respond. I texted Johen instead, but didn't receive any reply. I do hope he won't ignore me after all the things we did. This is why I really hate befriending with someone else.

"By the way, you're going with us tomorrow. Get ready 'cause Mom badly wants to see you, too."

Is he joking? Hindi nga ako pinagsabihan ni Tita Alice tungkol rito. At sa ayaw't sa gusto ko, hindi pa rin ako makakasama at alam nila Tita at Tito ang rason. Tapos, etong isa, paladesisyon.

When I came home, I was disappointed. Tita and Tito agreed to join me on their trip, even if it's against my will. Ayaw daw ni Kuya na madismaya ang mag biyenan niya lalo pa't sila ang nagpumilit na isama ako. Tita even suggested to tell them the truth, but I don't want them to know. This is not about me, after all.

I know Kuya has been glaring at me the whole time. He doesn't care about my past since then.

Pumayag na lang ako. After Patrick about my decision, he couldn't take off his big smile on his face. Annoying.

Since Tita and Tito won't be joining us on our trip, pinagbilinan nila sina Kuya at Ate na bantayan ako. Kuya won't do that either, if his all of his attention goes to his fiance. At isa pa, kaya ko naman ang sarili ko, pero hindi ko alam kung ano talagang mangyayari sa akin pagdating namin doon. I'll make sure I could handle myself whatever happens.

Patrick told me that he already sent a letter to my dean's office. Kaya niya ako sinundo kanina. Still, I didn't try to have a conversation with him. Nakakaumay na siya.

The next day, I joined Ate Trisha's family and went to the airport together. Before we left, I promised to Tita to call her right after we reached the place. I barely travel away from home, kaya alalang-alala talaga sila sa akin. Ate Reina also promised to look over me.

Unfortunately, my plane seat was beside Patrick's. I'll be seating next to the window. Since I didn't want to talk with him, I put my earphones on and played music. At least man lang, kumalma ako.

Naalimpungatan naman ako at pansin kong nakasandal na ako sa gilid ko. May narinig pa akong may kumukuha ng picture kaya tuluyan akong nagising. Saka ko lang napagtanto na nakasandal pala ako sa balikat niya. "How's your sleep?"

Kaagad akong lumayo sa kanya. Kinuha ko na lang ang water bottle sa tabi ko at ininom. Nawala naman yung panunuyo ng lalamunan ko.

"How's my water?"

On that moment, parang gusto ko na lang tumalon mula sa eroplano. I just drank someone else's water without realizing it. Sumasabog na akong loob ko dahil sa inis.

Pumunta muna ako sa CR dahil hindi ko na kayang harapin 'tong katabi ko. Pagdating ko doon, agad kong nilabas ang sama ng loob ko. Okay na sana kung wala siya sa family trip na 'to, pero hindi eh. Gusto kong magwala para bumagsak 'tong eroplano na 'to sa dis oras.

I went out of the CR and took a sigh. Bumalik ako sa seat ko at nakita ko siya. Of course, he's not going anywhere else inside the plane.

Few hours passed, our plane landed and we arrived to the place. A service fetched us in the airport and took us to the hotel. Patrick still tries to get my attention while Kuya and Ate Trisha were having their own world.

Sa loob ng sasakyan, agad kong hinila si Ate Reina para kaagad tumabi sa akin at maunahan si Patrick. She didn't mind me at all, while I could trace disappointment in his face and he's faking a smile.

We came to the hotel and we were given rooms instantly by the clerk. Ate Trisha's parents went in to their room first, then Ate Trisha and Kuya to the room next door. I was hoping Ate Reina and I would stay in the same room, but unfortunately, it didn't happened.

"I guess, we'll be staying in the same room again," he said as he showed me the room key in his hand.

"The last time we stayed together, you pissed me off and I went home alone. You better watch out for yourself or you'll make your parents mad at you again."
