The thunder was loud enough to wake me up. It was still raining outside, but the soft blanket over my body kept me warm in this cold weather. The moment I realized where I was, I suddenly got up out of bed in panic. My clothes were changed, too. I was wearing someone else's clothes already and I'm pretty sure who owns this and the room where I was sleeping.

I was about to leave the room when someone entered, hitting my head on the door. "Ahh!"

"Oh God, you're awake!"

"Unfortunately,
" I replied, still in pain.

Someone came in after her, and I saw worry on his face. "What did you do?" he asked her.

"Imbes, magtanong ka pa 'jan, tulungan mo na lang kaya ako dito."

They sent me back to the bed. Aside from checking my bump, they also checked if I was still sick. "How's your feeling?" Donnabelle asked as she put the back of her hand on my neck.

"Well, I feel fine."

They told me that they found me unconscious on the street. Buti na lang daw, nahanap nila ako. They even wanted to take me to the nearby hospital, but she insisted on taking me here instead. Johen was still mad at her about it, "pasalamat ka 'di nilagnat si Flynn."

"Well, you should've thanked me, idiot. Sobrang lakas ng ulan, baka mapa'no pa tayo sa daan, knowing you're not even a good driver," she dissed.

"As if 911 doesn't exist."

"As if you didn't have first aid response training."

The tension between them escalated that fast, and I was just there staring at them until something came into my mind and interrupted them. "Well, who changed my clothes?"

"Me," she said confidently, and I was stunned.

"For real?!"

"Tsk, you should've thanked me too. Basa yung clothes mo, alangan naman hahayaan ka na lang namin. And besides, sino bang mas mukhang pagnanasahin ka habang pinapalitan ka ng damit?"

"Shut up, Donna,"
he tried to stop her.

"Well, as if I didn't know what happened between the two of you, especially before you went to the wedding."

"Donna—"

"But I can just forget about it. As long as you're loyal to him, right?
" Donna, this time, is looking at me.

I just simply nodded to answer her. Alam na niya pala. I bet she knew this from him, but whether he said it intentionally or not, I couldn't still deny what had happened between us. Yet, it doesn't matter anymore now that I chose him.

The seconds of silence were quickly broken by a sudden call. It was coming from my phone on the desk, which she grabbed and passed it to me. "Patrick," she read the name on the screen.

I answered the call. "Yes—"

"Flynn, where are you? I've been calling you several times since you called me,"
he sounded authoritatively.

I was thinking of any excuse just to avoid making him worry about me again. There I saw Donnabelle mouthing some words that I understood. "Well, I was hanging around with Donnabelle. We're actually on our way home. Don't worry about me anymore."

"Donnabelle, really? That's way too impossible."

She grabbed my wrist and pulled it near to her. "I can hear you, Patrick."

"Take care of him."

"Of course, I will,"
she said, and ended the call.

She spoke back to him again. "Buti na lang, 'di 'to nalaman ni Patrick. If he did, bugbog sarado ka na. At sugurin ka pa ng pamilya niya dito. Nakalimutan mo atang nasa kabilang kanto lang bahay nya."

"Stop blaming when you're the one who brought him here."

I was about to cover my ears just so I couldn't hear them, but all of a sudden, a sound from my stomach caught their attention. I gave them a bitter smile, before she dragged me off the bed and brought me to the dining room.

She even tried to call any fast food chains, but no one could accept any orders as of the moment. There, Johen decided to cook for our dinner. He only got ramen noodles in his cabinet, and we spent the night together.

The rain hadn't stopped yet. It's already past midnight and Tita Alice just texted me. I told her that I'd be at home at 6 in the morning.

Together we watched a movie, sat on the couch, and I was beside Donnabelle. Although I couldn't stand her death glares, I think it's funny when she keeps him away from me since I woke up awhile ago, as if I still had any intentions of dating him.

I already knew the plot of the film after almost half an hour and decided to lean on the couch and close my eyes. They're too focused on the film, so they might not have noticed me sleeping already.

A few minutes later, I got back to consciousness and started hearing murmurs from familiar voices.

"I wonder what made you fall in love with him."

"That's none of your business."

At that moment, I recognized those voices.

"Well, I didn't see this coming, what do you expect? 'Cause after all these years I've been with you, I never thought you could fall for a guy like him."

"Blame Cupid, not me."

"If I could stop Cupid from drawing you near him. Ngayong alam mo ng may taong para sa kanya, sana lubayan mo sya."

"That's not as easy as you think."

Now, I feel like it's illegal to listen to their conversation, but they're literally beside me. I could hear them clearly, even if they lowered their voices.

"John Henry, he doesn't deserve someone like you. I've known you too well, hun. Masasaktan mo lang siya kapag nangyaring kayo ang nagkatuluyan. Glad, he found Patrick."

"How sure are you na masasaktan ko sya?"

"Your eyes, hun. Your eyes. The way you stare at him, it's the same way you looked at me before. The pair of eyes that hid lies and broke my heart. I've never been so wrong of what I'd seen, Johen."

Then I heard a slap after a moment of silence.

"Ouch, what was that for?"

"Well, muntik ko ng makalimutan yung narinig ko kanina sa tawag ni Flynn no'ng nakausap kayo. Sino 'yun?"

"Well, that was my groupmate!"

I just rolled my eyes when they fought again, but more quietly than they did in the room. Then, I decided to fall back to sleep.

The next morning, I woke up with a blanket and pillow, still on the couch. The house is quieter than last night. The rain has already stopped too. I could see the sunlight passing through the window curtains and lighting up the room.

Then, I heard an open door, and there I saw him walking out of his room.

"Where is she?"

"Just left few minutes ago. 'Di na sya nagpaalam sa'yo dahil natutulog ka pa. How's your sleep?"

"Good. Okay lang."

"That's good to hear."

I was about to get off of the couch when he sat beside me. There, I realized it's been a long time since the last time we talked, just the two of us. It was just a silence between us, waiting for one to start the conversation. I wanted to, but I can't think of where to begin.

"Sorry, if 'di na kita nagawang ibalik sa kwarto kagabi. Donna went wild, and it took me hours to tame her. Kaya, nawala sa isip ko na nasa couch ka pa pala."

"That's fine. Nakikitulog lang rin naman ako. Thanks for letting me stay."

His eyes met mine, and he gave me a smile. I wondered where he could take me with the way he stared. But, at that moment, I could sense that he was drawing himself near, and before he could do anything else, I moved back.

"Johen."

With a call of his name, he seemed to realize what I meant after shaking his head. He heaved a sigh before he spoke once more. "Do you really love him?"

It took me seconds before I nodded. His hand, which was about to reach mine, moved back after I responded to his question. I'm not too naive to notice it; I surely heard him last night. For him, this is not as easy as Donnabelle thought.

"If... you're happy with him, I'd be happy for you," he said, with no trace of dismay in his voice. He gave me a smile once more, and the hand he took back was now holding mine.

"Even if I had loved you for days, it was true, Flynn. For a short time, I realized that I'd fallen for you. The way you look at me with those eyes makes me want to dive into you. I want to know you more. I knew in my heart that I wanted you. But, I guess I couldn't want you anymore like I used to."

I laid my other hand on his. "You've been a good friend of mine, Johen. A thank you isn't enough for being with me since we started out as friends. We've already shared memories together. I should be grateful and lucky to have one like you."

He drew himself near me again, but this time, he wrapped his arms around me and buried his face on my shoulder. "You're the best thing that happened to me, Flynn."

From that moment, something had ended. But, at the same time, something has started to flourish.
