When it Rains (Completed)

CHAPTER 33

Hope this works.

I'm quite nervous actually. Though I had lied before just to go to Patrick's place, this would be my first time doing this. Johen was on another couch while Tita Alice and Tito Renzo were sitting beside me.

Wala si Donnabelle, since she suggested, si Johen na lang magpapaalam para sa akin. They all agreed with it.

It's kind of awkward, parang nag-aakyat ng ligaw si Johen. Donna would be irritated to see this, but there's no other way to make our plan happen.

"So, ba't ka pala naparito, Johen? May ipapaalam ka ba?"

"Yes, actually inaya ko po kasi si Flynn na mag-out of town since sem-break na namin kaso mukhang kailangan pa ata ng permission ninyo. Pwede ko po ba sya isama?"

"Pwede naman, kung kaya ni Flynn," ani Tita saka tumingin sa akin. "Kaya mo?"

I just simply nodded.

"Johen, naalala mo naman siguro no'ng dinala mo siya sa sa ospital. Ayaw naming maulit pa 'yon," sabi ni Tita sa kanya.

"Opo, hindi ko po sya pababayaan," he replied.

"Matanong ko lang," Tito spoke. "Meron bang namamagitan sa inyo ni Flynn?"

I wanted to laugh, but I tried my very best to keep it. As we expected, it really happened. We just pretended that we didn't see this coming, acted shocked at what Tito had asked all of a sudden.

"How could you say, sir?"

"I'm asking you."

That made a tension between them, for sure. And I, sitting beside Tita, just waited to see how Johen would respond.

"What if... we do have, sir?"

There was silence in the room, as nobody seemed to continue the conversation until someone walked in from the front door. It was Kuya Alrey, surprised at what he'd seen. "Oh, good morning. Mukhang may nagaganap dito na hindi ko nalalaman. Did I hear it right?"

His grin quickly annoyed me. 'Di ko na lang pinahalata, baka maudlot pa plano namin dahil sa kanya.

"I'm actually courting him, if Flynn didn't tell you yet."

Kuya Alrey went and stood at the back of the couch where we sat, facing Johen. "Well, for me, bagay kayo. You two look good together," pabiro niyang sabi sabay tapik sa balikat ko.

Nakisabay na lang ako, pati na rin si Johen, pero ang totoo, gusto ko na maging bayolente ngayong nananadya si Kuya.

"Since magbabakasyon kayo together, be safe. Travel safe, and you know, be safe always. Use cond—"

"Alrey," Tito called his name.

"Oops."

I simply rolled my eyes. Johen saw it, for sure.

"Well, we have no choice but to support what's in between you. Since nililigawan mo si Flynn, ingatan mo siya palagi. If we found out na pinapabayaan mo sya, hindi na kami papayag na ligawan mo siya. Do you understand?" Tito said firmly.

Ang corny naman nito.

"Yes, sir."

That ends our plan. Finally, pinayagan ako na magbakasyon kasama si Johen. Well, si Johen ang alam nila.

After that, I called Patrick to tell him about what happened awhile ago. Nag-impake na rin ako ng dadalhin ko, since we will be staying for a week in his resthouse. It'll be two provinces away from the city.

While I was busy packing my things, the door suddenly opened and there I saw Kuya Alrey walking in. "So, nililigawan ka na pala. Wise choice."

"Shut up."

He grabbed something from his pockets, and threw it on my bed. "Safety first."

Condoms. He's really pissing me off before I could leave this house. "Enjoy your vacation," his last word before he left my room.

I don't really know why he still visits here, kahit na honeymoon phase pa nila ng asawa niya. Is he still checking on me? P*tangina lang.

And he really came here to give me some condoms? Well, I could take this with me and give it to Pat if we'd have sex, but those were from him and that's the issue. No, thanks.

Right before the sunrise, Johen came with his car outside, waiting for me. I took my bag and said goodbye to them all, just except Kuya, as usual. I got into his car, and there Donnabelle greeted me. "Rainer Flynn Toralba, won't you greet me a good morning?"

"Stop calling me by my full name."

"Ungrateful creature you are!"

"Calm your ass down, Donna," Johen interrupted and started driving us out of the subdivision.

We made sure no one was following us. I told them about Kuya Alrey, not totally everything, that he used to follow me wherever I go—when I'm all by myself. It was lucky enough for me to stay at Patrick's apartment, kakatapos lang kasi ng kasal nila no'ng time na 'yon kaya nakalusot ako.

"He might be concerned about you, lalo pa't bigla-bigla ka na lang nahihimatay kapag umuulan," sabi ni Donnabelle.

"He's not what you think. He's far from what you've seen of him. I wish I could tell you, but I'm not in the right state of mind now to share everything."

"If you say so."

We drove until we arrived at the back of the uptown mall. I had to say goodbye to them, too. It was still dark outside, but I got out of the car and ran to the van parked next to Johen's car.

I went in and the car door closed, with the arms of whom he pulled me closer and reached for my lips. He clung for awhile, then let go. "You're 2 minutes late."

"Well, kissing me isn't part of this plan."

"But at least, you liked it."

"Uwi na lang kaya ako."

"Kidding. Let's go."

He had a private driver who would drive us out of the city. It'll be our second trip out of town, but the first since we started dating. He was beside me, remained quiet, but I knew he couldn't contain his excitement just by the way he held my hand.

I laid my head upon his shoulder. At that moment, something popped in my mind that made me realize something. Then, I can't help myself thinking of what could've happened if he was in Johen's position yesterday.

"If I'm ready to tell them about you, will they be mad at us?" I asked out of blue.

"No one ever knows, Flynn. But, for you, I'd be ready. And for sure, everything between us won't end just because they can't like us. You've been a part of me—something that I can't just let go that easily."

"And if your family doesn't like me?"

"And if they like you?" he asked. "They've already suspected that I've been dating someone else. I couldn't wait to tell them about you, Flynn. They've been waiting."

"How about your work? 'Di ba natatakot na baka mawalan ka pa ng trabaho dahil sa akin—"

"Flynn, it's none of their business if whoever I date with. But if they do, or if my family too, I'll leave them to start my life with you."

He put his other hand on top of mine. "That's how I love you, Flynn. Nothing matters to me right now but only you."

At that moment, his words painted a smile on my face with a feeling of relief. "I love you too."
