I walked out the door after the class was dismissed, trying to escape the crowded hallway. I have no idea what to make of the sudden commotion—students were overlooking something on the grounds. Got curious and had the chance to sneak, until I caught two people arguing. A couple, for sure. The girl was yelling while the boy was trying to calm her down. That's when I realized who they were.
The girl looked up and searched for something, until she locked her sight on me and pointed at me. "Ikaw!"
I pointed at myself, "Me?"
I looked around and tried to find out who she was pointing to, but that's when I realized people around me started to look at me and murmured and whispered at each other.
I looked down again at the grounds. She was still staring at me. Johen, too. Now, he starts to drag her away.
"How dare you to seduce him?!" she yelled, and with that, I instantly became the center of attention.
I shrugged off my shoulders and walked away. I'm getting a lot of unnecessary attention because of this nonsense sh*t. Never knew befriending him would cost something. Everything's getting worse.
How come a guy like me would hear rumors about me and witness a mad girl throwing a nonsense accusation in front of people? I couldn't process everything.
Passed through the gates, I waited for any vacant jeep when a car stopped over and its door opened. "Get in."
His smile was contagious. I didn't hesitate to get into his car. I just felt better when I saw him. "How's your day?" he asked.
"Well, nagkagulo."
"Why?"
"There's a girl accusing me of seducing her ex-boyfriend. Now, everyone's thinking it's true."
"We can transfer you to another university if you want—"
"I won't let you do that. I'll get through this business. Don't ever cross the lines or I'll be mad."
"Okay, okay. Chill, I'll take you to my place para kumalma ka."
I raised my brows at him. "You're supposed to take me home, not to your place. Makakahalata sila—"
"Naah, Alrey's not home. Pinagsabihan ko na sina Tita Alice at Tito Renzo. I'm taking you back to my place, just for tonight."
"Why?"
"Because I miss you."
I looked away when my cheeks started to heat up. "Tsk, corny."
"You owe me two kisses already."
The car stayed quiet, but it never lasted for long when we arrived at his place. We were greeted by the security guard, and it seemed that he had been familiar with me. Then we went to the elevator. There we stood in the silence with his hand reaching mine until he finally held it. His gaze met mine, but it was a short moment when someone stood outside the lift as the doors opened.
"Good evening, sir," the woman said as she bowed to the man on my right. She's the same person I met when I left this building a month ago.
In no time, I hid my hand behind me before she could catch us. There she smiled at me, as I realized she was his PA. "Hello," I greeted.
We walked outside the lift. But, as I noticed how his smile faded and he glared at her, I knew something was off. "I told you, you should never visit me again here outside business hours," he spoke.
"It's not about the company, sir."
"Then what?"
"About her."
He seemed shocked by what she said and dragged me away from her. "Flynn, can you wait for me there?"
I just nodded and left them alone. I had no idea who she was referring to, but it made the atmosphere so serious that made me totally curious about it. After I successfully got through his keypad-locked operated door, I went into his condo, and a creature greeted me with glaring eyes and angry canines.
"Hanggang ngayon, galit ka pa rin sa 'kin? Eh may kasalanan ka pa sa 'kin ah," sabi ko kay Lily na tinakuran pa ako at lumayo.
I wondered where he got his furious dog. Hindi ko alam kung sa 'kin lang ba siya galit o may galit rin siya sa ibang bisita dito sa condo niya.
I was about to take a seat on the big couch when I saw her, so I just sat on the smaller one. Well, I can't sit on someone else's throne or else I'll just end up with bites on my arms. If that happens, I will never go back here again.
The door opened and someone came in. There I saw Patrick. I caught him changing his serious look to a bright one. He sat on the arm of the couch where I was sitting and suddenly blew a kiss on my forehead. "Don't worry too much."
I hadn't said anything, but he knew I was bothered by their conversation minutes ago.
"What do you want for dinner?" he asked.
"Anything. Hindi naman ako pihikan sa pagkain."
"What about me?"
My hand just pushed his face away from mine. "Not tonight. Pagod ako."
"Just one kiss, please," he pleaded like a child. Well, I can't believe I just made this guy in front of me plead for a kiss. This is funny.
A grab on his necktie drew him nearer to me until our lips clashed. I let him reply once, but before he could move his lips twice, I let go and pushed him away. "Baka saan pa mapunta 'to. The last time we did it, I couldn't walk straight. I don't want that to happen again. May pasok pa ako bukas."
"Okay, okay. I understand," he said and blew a kiss again on my forehead. "I'll just prepare everything."
He left me on his couch and went to his kitchen. I just watched him, like I was enjoying a cooking show late at night. And, I couldn't deny the fact that there's something about him wearing his blue apron. He looked way much better than his casual look.
The scent from the boiling pot was hunger-provoking, as I heard my own tummy grumbling that I hope he didn't hear how loud it was. Tsaka ko lang na-realize na konti lang nakain ko kanina kaya ganito ako kagutom ngayon.
He called my name as he set the food on the dining table. Daig pa niya mga professional cook sa pagserve ng pagkain. "Don't you have any food businesses? Your cooking skill is good."
"Yes, I do have."
"Where? Gusto kong puntahan."
He sat with me and served my plate with food. "Siguro naalala mo naman yung una nating meeting."
There, I started to think about our first meeting. I remember it was raining, we crossed the flooded street and went into— "Wait, sa 'yo 'yun? Yung..."
"Pizza shop?" he interrupted and nodded.
"Oh," tanging nasabi ko na lang. So he really owned that place on our first meeting. The flashback was still playing on my mind, and there I remembered that I was so rude that day.
But here we are, dating secretly.
But are we dating right now?
"Patrick," I called his name. "What stage are we on right now?"
It was clear that he didn't expect my question when he gave me a surprised look. "Oh, 'bout that. Well, we're dating. I passed through the courting stage when I convinced you to be mine."
"I don't know about that."
"It's confusing, right? I mean, it's my first time dating a guy. I really don't know how everything should be done, but look at us, we're taking our dinner like we're married," he said, as he gave me a smile on his face.
I wonder why he ended up with me. I mean, he could've dated a girl after our first meeting, but he's now dating me.
We had a good dinner talk. He told me his plans for us after the wedding. We just have to make sure that no one in the family knows anything about us. That'll ruin everything if that happens.
We slept together on his king bed. Nothing happened that night. My day was pretty exhausting—a good reason to have a good rest. His arm on my body was enough to put me to sleep.
The next day, my first sight was the gloomy skies outside the glass window. The first thing I realized in the morning, no one was already lying next to me. Nothing, but a handwritten note from him.
I jumped out of the bed and looked for him, but I found no one but Lily. I thought he pranking me but no one answered whenever I called his name. There, I heard a knock from his door. I immediately went to open it, hoping it was him.
As I opened the door, I froze when the person greeted was the one we've been avoiding.
