Lily’s Point of View

As promised the day he arrived. Dad seemed to have kept his word on the whole idea of the two us spending father/daughter time together.

I was the most skeptical when the words drifted from his lips followed by a reassuring grin. After yesterday’s event of the well thought out yacht fiasco, I was proven tremendously wrong.

That is why I couldn’t contain my excitement for what today held for the both of us. Even though Justin and Scott didn’t seem to comprise with what was going on. I didn’t feel the slightest bit of sadness because I deep down I really wanted to have time with him alone.

“Lily are you ready yet?” Dad’s stern voice came slithering through the door.

I may have couldn’t see him but I knew he was checking the time on his wrist shaking his head, mumbling a complaint underneath his breath.

Getting away with rolling my eyes. “I’ll be out in a minute.” I responded. “Old man.” I manage to sneak out through gritted teeth while I put the finishing touches on my look in order for it to be classified as complete.

“Well hurry up! Times a ticking.” Dad replied, still taking a stand outside of the door. “By the way. I heard that.” He scoffed, faking as if he actually felt offended.

Sneering to myself, I made sure to have slipped all of my belongs into my purse such as money, make up, phone, and keys. I did a glance around the room to make sure I didn’t forget a thing before draping the purse into middle of my arm where it folded.

I flung the bedroom door open and just as I predicted Dad stood doing everything I described minutes ago to a T.

“Finally.” He let out the breath that he seemed to have been was holding, thrashing his hands in the air before they fell back down making a slapping sound against his thighs.

I playfully rolled my eyes at his exaggeration.

“It wasn’t that long.” I stated, taking a step out of the room closing the door.

“Whatever you say.” Dad paused for a moment. “You look really nice.” He complemented, nodding his head in improvement.

“Thank you. You don’t look bad yourself.” I admired, his choice of outfit. He seemed a bit over dressed compared to my summer dress and sandals.

Holding out his arm, I intertwined mine with his before we took off downstairs. I couldn’t help, but to ask knowing I may not get clue or evidence in return.

“So why are we going?” I asked, throwing in a genuine smile that would hopefully increase my chances of know the secret he was harboring.

 “Now that’s a surprise.”

I pouted.

“Well it was worth a try.”

“You should know by now that my lips are always sealed.” He said in between laughs while opening up the car door that I had a pleasure of settling myself into. As he made his way onto the other side gracefully.

Turns out we ended up at one of my favorite dessert spots that I haven‘t been to in awhile. I was mentally thanking god that Justin broke my strict diet when he arrived because now I was able to eat anything I wanted without food talking back to me in guilt.

Once I stepped inside I couldn’t stop my taste buds from tingling once the scent of endless amounts of delighted treats surfaced my nose. I had to try my best to contain myself as I took a sat in front of the man who had the brilliant idea himself.
