Lily's Point of View:

I gazed at myself in the mirror practicing the smile I’ll shall be sashaying around the entire night. The best outcome was half toothy grin. I rolled my eyes at the pathetic attempt of not being able to convince myself that I was happy about this whole ordeal.

Simply because this isn’t a first time occasion and surely wouldn’t be the last. I should be accustomed to slipping on a ballroom gown. Pinning up my golden locks of honey-cone hair daring not to let one strand hang beneath for an elegant look. Applying the little make up or hardly none all in the fear of being confused for a harlot.

As I continued with a ritual of bickering, a loud knock on the door broke away my concentration in the mirror. Luckily I was decent before I strutting over to the door opening it widely. My shoulders sunk in disappoint because for a moment I was definitely positive it was my boyfriend on the other side checking upon me. Fooled as usual, it was our maid Madeline who I call Maddie for short because her name never went well with my accent. Being the kindhearted person she is, Maddie truly didn’t mind.

“I’m sorry to disturb you Mrs. Hale, but Mr. Braun is waiting downstairs for your entrance.” Maddie said solemnly in her soft voice. In translations meaning for me to hurry the hell up. I nodded sweetly at her. “Let me just get my belongs, I’ll be right down.” I replied, turning on my heels before grabbing onto my clutch purse placing underneath my arm.

I walked slowly down the stairs as Maddie held onto my dress, one of her generous ideas. I turned down her offer, but she insisted. “Thank You.” I said to Maddie as she continued on with the work she paid to do instead of fetching me from upstairs like my lover should have been doing. I cleared my throat, as my weight shifted onto one side as my right hand placed sassily onto my hip.

“Aren’t you going to compliment on how I look?” I said making a full turn. Wanting a bit of acknowledgement for making a great effort to look presentable. It just doesn’t happen in the blink of eye it takes time. His fingers stop working his blackberry only for minute to peek over the screen.

“You look nice.” Scott said in the dullest way possible. I was certain that he didn’t even look at me for a split second. Not wanting to put up a fight causing a chance to make this night slower as it has already been. I drifted off to the guy in black and white who gave me a welcoming motion, before opening the door of the towns car that will be escorting Scott and I to the annual Pencil of Promise, GALA.

The whole journey was quiet except for irritable sound of Scott’s finger coming in contact with that damn phone of is. It took all of my power not to mash it beneath the heel I wore.

The best sound I heard was driver notifying us that we were at our destination. I silently thank god before I put of my best smile as the car door flung open. Not bad Lily at all, it’s actually came out a lot better that it did when I practiced it earlier.

“How are you doing Mr. and Mrs. Braun?” The interviewer on the red carpet said greeting the both of us. I felt a pinch of irritation. The last time I recalled, the name on my drivers license and birth certificate was Hale certainly not Braun. Scott’s not even that comfortable talking about our relationship less known the topic of marriage.

The incite people have it ridiculous. Before I could correct young reporter before me, I heard a faint chuckle from beside me. “Well we’re doing amazing. I know for sure we couldn’t be happier. Isn’t that right Lily?” Scott spoke, certainly not taking the words out of my mouth. More like feeding the media straight b.s.

I swallowed my pride and replied. “Of course I couldn’t be happier.” I said smiling up a Scott giving them a damn good picture they have all been waiting for.
