Just What We Need

"Pansy," I mumbled that night after we finished studying in the library.

"Hmm?" she hummed.

I opened my mouth to speak, but struggled to get the sound out. This subject was obviously not easy, but after what Theo said, I can't help but wonder...

"I think I'm just paranoid, never mind," I murmured.

She gave me a funny look. "No, tell me."

I glanced down at my lap and shook my head. "Seriously. I think I'm just overthinking."

"If you insist. I'm here for you if you need anything, though," she said as she finished gathering her things. "See you tomorrow."

I gave her a slim smile as she left. I, on the other hand, stayed seated. There's no way I can be... I mean, I am probably just late on my period. After all, Theo says things like this all the time to scare people.

However, the next morning, I threw up. Again.

Thankfully, Draco had not woken up yet so I got ready and decided I would go to Pansy because I can't tell Draco.

He does not need unneeded stress because I am sure I am overreacting.

I reached Pansy's dorm and knocked. Seconds later, the door opened. I am pretty sure I woke her up because she looked ticked and half asleep.

"What?" she asked as I walked inside.

"I threw up... I-I think I might be..."

Her eyes grew wide for a split second, though she calmed herself. I am sure she didn't want me to overreact.

"Have you taken a test?" she asked.

I shook my head so she went into her bathroom and handed me one.

"I've had a scare or two. You should be okay, but you should take one... just in case."

I glanced down at the box in my hand and felt my hand shake. There is no way this is a reality.

"Please don't tell anyone about this," I mumbled as I walked past her and into the bathroom so I could take the test.

I felt tears welling up in my eyes as I returned to her after taking the test. She has changed into her uniform, but she pulled me in for a hug.

"It'll be okay. Does Draco have any idea?"

That's when the tears began to fall. Of course he doesn't. I am too scared to tell him. There's no way he wants a baby, and especially given our situation. His father would flip if he knew the Malfoy heir wasn't going to be pure... and Voldemort, he would be pissed knowing the Malfoy heir shares the same blood as his enemy. No one will be supportive and I am truly fearful for what the results will be.

"I can't tell him... he'll be pissed."

Pansy wore a look of sympathy. "I'm sure he won't. He loves you."

But does he love me enough to stay with me despite being pregnant?

"I-I'll tell him if the results are positive... if not... no need to scare him."

"That's fair... it's about time to check. Do you want me to look?" asked Pansy.

I shook my head and made my way into the bathroom. She followed behind me and held my hand as I picked up the test.

"It'll be okay, whatever the results are," she reassured as I closed my eyes and flipped the test over.

After a final deep breath, I opened my eyes.
