The next day Sirius would not stop pestering (y/n) about her supposed secret, her suspicions were absolutely correct, he had been eavesdropping, and therefore it was smart of her to not mention the fact that she was a mermaid. Things would be quite different if she had done so.
"Why would you die if anyone found out? Would you actually die or were you being metaphorical?" Sirius stated, he walked very closely beside (y/n), it was to the point where their shoulders were touching, and their hands grazed against each other's every once in a while.
"I won't actually die Sirius, though maybe of embarrassment." (y/n) joked, she loved teasing the boy like this, and these little hints were certainly doing that.
"Please, I want to know." Sirius begged, (y/n) rolled her eyes and sighed, she needed a temporary solution to get the boy off of her back.
"I'll tell you later, it's not important right now." (y/n) muttered, she ran off to her next class and crossed her fingers that he wouldn't pry it out of her.
The first month of seventh year had already come to a close, (y/n) still didn't fancy Sirius, though Jolene was a completely different story. A lot of trouble would come to the students during the long months that followed into the new year, colder seasons were approaching, meaning more rain, and more destruction.
Sirius and (y/n) waited patiently for a response from Professor Bins, they'd been late and missed out on choosing the groups for an upcoming project. There was no space left for the odd pair, therefore they were forced to work together, which was hardly a good idea given the fact that (y/n) actually cared for schoolwork but was a great procrastinator while Sirius just did all the work in one night with hardly any effort at all.
"You're to research someone from our latest chapter, and get creative with your presentation please." Bins sighed, he seemed even more miserable than usual, and sitting through hundreds of presentations was the icing on the cake for his extreme fatigue.
...
"What do we do." (y/n) groaned, she'd drawn a blank, and no one from the most recent chapter seemed even remotely interesting enough for a project.
"Nothing, it's not due til next week." Sirius sighed, he was staring up at the sky, his head rested against the back of a tree trunk.
"Thats not a lot of time." (y/n) muttered, she quickly remembered a quiz question that she'd gotten wrong, which sparked an idea, she'd landed on the perfect person. "How about Godrick Gryffindor." (y/n) began. "We can do a reenactment of some sort." The girl continued, she was overjoyed, excited even.
"That's brilliant, bloody brilliant. I could just kiss you right now." Sirius cheered, his reaction seemed a little over the top, though this was Sirius that we were talking about, over the top was practically his middle name.
"Only if you promise to do your work." (y/n) pleaded, Sirius nodded and agreed to her promise, and then he did it. She didn't think that he'd actually follow through with his words, she only thought he was joking. When he kissed her, only then did she realize that he had been serious.
...
"He's completely in to you." Jolene exclaimed, she was there to witness the kiss, it was pure luck that she'd been there at the time of the event.
"It just seems highly unlikely, I mean what do I bring to the table in terms of a relationship." (y/n) began, she'd lost Jolene for a moment. "What I mean is, why me, it seems too strange. We've always been good friends." (y/n) muttered, she wasn't going to convince herself that this boy liked her, it would only drive her mad.
