Winter break had managed to sneak up on the Marauders and the girls, in fact, everyone was waiting at the station for the train. It would be approaching any minute now.
"I can't believe we're halfway done with our seventh year." (y/n) muttered, she gripped Sirius' hand tightly, poor Remus had been third wheeling the entire train ride, he was stuck with them til he arrived home since (y/n)'s father offered to take the boy home with him.
"I can, I can't wait to get out of that musty old castle. I want to get out there and see the world." Sirius said, Remus and (y/n) both rolled their eyes at the boy.
"I'm with (y/n), I'll miss Hogwarts." Remus said, the girl smiled and nodded in an: 'I told you so' sort of way.
"You mean you'll miss kissing Dumbledore's ass." Sirius snickered.
"Yes, I mean no." Remus stammered, he'd awarded himself with a round of laughter from both (y/n) and Sirius. The tall boy rolled his eyes and sighed at the strange pair that stood before him. "(y/n), you did phone your father about Sirius, right?" Remus asked, Sirius had never personally used a telephone, and he seemed greatly interested in making a call for the first time.
"I thought you weren't a muggle born." Sirius asked in confusion, (y/n) placed a hand to her forehead and let out a deep sigh, she would have to go through a great heap of trouble to cover for herself.
Her father had gone to Hogwarts, though he'd initially chosen a life as a muggle instead, he enjoyed the other world since he'd been exposed to it at a young age. As for (y/n)'s mother, she was working for the ministry, though was living in muggle society for the time being, that's where the two met, and that's how (y/n) knew so much about the muggle born, she'd practically been raised as one. Her family was quite unique as is, though it didn't help that her father also happened to be a merman. It only added to the chaos and stress that (y/n) must accept.
"It's a long story." (y/n) answered Sirius, she focused her attention on Remus and continued her statement "And no, I didn't get to phone him, so we're going in blind on this." (y/n) stated, her parents would either be very eager to have the boy in their home, or they would reign hell on them.
"I'm sure it'll be fine, my charisma will save me." Sirius teased, he wasn't wrong, though his charisma may lead to his downfall. The boy shook the hair out of his face and pressed onward to a nice little park bench near a bus station, the others sluggishly followed after Sirius, who had a seemingly endless supply of energy. Which was strange given the fact that he'd only slept four hours the previous night.
An hour passed and the trio began to worry, especially (y/n), it was common for her family to run a little late to things, but never to this degree. Relief quickly returned to the girl as a familiar car arrived in the distance, it was driving rather quickly and recklessly, so (y/n) that it had to be her father, only he dared to drive like that.
A tall and well built man stepped out of the car, his face resembled (y/n)'s in some way. Their noses were similar, and their hair color was the same, though there was something different about this man that differentiated him from (y/n). It was almost like a sort of invisible presence rather than a physical feature.
"(y/n), I've missed you." The man said, he came and hugged (y/n) first, their embrace was short but filled with sentiment.
"I see you've brought Remus, and-." The man continued, he paused and stared at Sirius, who was doing that strange thing where he stood on the tips of his toes to try and make himself taller.
"Sirius Black sir." Sirius said, he used such a posh accent that the neither Remus or (y/n) could recognizer who they were standing beside.
"Ah yes." Eugene said, that was the name of (y/n)'s father, it wasn't his birth name of course, it was a muggle name he'd given himself by means of assimilation. "Well come on you three, we haven't got all day." Eugene said, he rushed back to the car, and pulled it round to the curb beside the three students.
