(y/n) headed towards the punch table in order to avoid running into this boy. With his, now, long whispy hair and practically sparkling eyes.

He clearly had no date to the dance, otherwise he would have been with her, and he didn't seem interest in any of the women who were circling him like sharks in that drafty corner of the room. It was clear that he was trying to play the silent and strong type, which he hardly was, given his dog like persona.

(y/n) couldn't dare to even think of him, it had to bring bad luck to her by merely thinking about him. So she headed once again to a different part of the room, she was beginning to accept the fact that this encounter would be unavoidable, given the fact that the boy had been chasing her across the entire grand hall.

She was finally cornered near the end of the hall, it was a darker and quieter place where all the strange people sat. They looked gloomy and depressed, (y/n) opted to move, but it was no use. Clye was right in front of her now, he looked her right in the eyes, he couldn't have been more than ten feet away from her.

"Is that really you, (y/n)?" The boy asked, he had the same old voice, that same old voice from fifth year.

"Clye." (y/n) said hesitantly, her hands began to shake as she gripped her glass tighter, the boy didn't seem to notice, that's what (y/n) believed anyway.

The two sort of just stared at each other, they were taking one another in, it had been two years since they'd been this close after all. Each other them had sought out to avoid the other at all costs. Besides Quidditch, which caused unavoidable contact.

"You look amazing." Clye stammered, he seemed slightly nervous, though not nearly as much as the girl. (y/n) was thankful that he wasn't mentioning the fact that she'd been avoiding him practically the entire time. That would make for an awkward conversation.

"Thanks." (y/n) said, she felt a little sheepish, and warm inside, though she remembered Sirius, and a sort of cool wind swept over her. It was alright to be friendly with this boy, but anything else was just wrong in her eyes. Clye was a friend, emphasis on the was, he was but a mere acquaintance to the girl now.

"Look, I'm really sorry about what I did. I guess I was, I dunno, but no excuse could ever make up for what I did." Clye blurted, his cheeks were pink now, which (y/n) found adorable, what happened to Hogwarts' top bachelor. He'd fallen, and so had Sirius, all that was left was Severus Snape, though he was only on the list for his great lack of liking by the women of the school.

"It's fine, I've nearly forgotten all about that." (y/n) said, she spewing an absolute lie, though she didn't want the boy to feel any worse for what had gone on. The important thing was that he was trying to make things right, which made the girl very happy.

She'd always seen Clye as a mistake, a stain in her memory, though it seemed that the boy wanted to fix that, it would be one less regret for the girl to have.

"I really did like you, in a way I still do." Clye said cooly, (y/n) remembered why he'd been so high in the bachelors list. He was cool and collective when he wanted to be, it drove girls mad, though he only ever chose (y/n), anyone else was below him, at least that's how it was in fifth year.

"I really liked you too, but I've got a boyfriend now." (y/n) muttered, she was glad that she'd meant something to Clye, she'd gotten more than she'd bargained for when coming to this dance. It seemed that all of her life problems were being solved, even her and Jolene were on great terms now too. She hardly possessed any other regrets in life, in was a wonderful feeling.

"Who's the lucky person." Clye teased, he used a strange tone of voice, though it was hardly unfamiliar, he'd used it quite often during conversations between him and (y/n). It brought back very many pleasant memories that she'd buried away, though she could finally uncover them once again.

"You'd never guess it." (y/n) began, Clye immediately started listing off names, until he finally reached the match, he could tell that he'd named him because of the way (y/n)'s eyes quickly diverted away from his.

"Sirius Black, how'd you manage to tie him down." Clye marveled, it seemed improbable, nearly impossible. Sirius had been unofficially crowned the school's number on bachelor, for boundless reasons of course.

"I'm not quite sure." (y/n) muttered, she still couldn't wrap her head around it herself. He'd first started liking her in sixth year, though she couldn't understand why. She hadn't done much to gain his attention.

"Speaking of the devil." Clye began, he watched as a rather feisty looking boy approached the pair. Sirius had balled fists and gritted teeth, there was practically steam popping out of his ears. His anger was understandable, his girlfriend, who he was nearly in love with, was speaking with a tall and attractive boy whom he believed to be hitting on her.

"Clye, what do you think you're doing."Sirius spat, he placed an arm around (y/n)'s shoulder, he immediately noticed the heels, since he had to lift his arm slightly higher when embracing her.

"No no, we were just talking." Clye replied, he seemed sincere enoug, though both him and (y/n) knew that Sirius was not buying it

"How do you know him anyhow?" Sirius asked, he focused his attention on (y/n) now, his gaze was so powerful, so much so that it could cause a first year to jump up in fear, or even a seventh year, if you played your cards right.

There was something quite terrifying and yet so enticing about Sirius' stare, it was very hypnotic, to say the least.

"We-, how do I put this." (y/n) muttered, she was at a loss for words, how would she explain herself without revealing the truth.

"She's my ex." Clye said, he winked at (y/n) and focused back on Sirius, who had luckily missed the boys small gesture.

"Is that so." Sirius muttered, he still hadn't removed his arm from the girls shoulder, he intended to never let her leave his sight, not after this little incident.  "Well you wouldn't mind if I borrowed her then." Sirius added.

"Be my guest." Clye stated, he laughed at the pair as they quickly walked away from the scene, Sirius was the one dragging (y/n) away from Clye.

"Goodbye Clye, thanks for clearing things up." (y/n) shouted to the boy, he smiled and waved goodbye to (y/n), who was receiving several nasty looks from Sirius.

Once the couple had finally come to a halt, (y/n) crossed her arms and turned to face Sirius, she'd been taken aback by his strange behavior.

"That was uncalled for Sirius." (y/n) said, the boy had treated Clye very rudely, and he'd also interrupted her conversation with him, for no apparent reason.

"What, I was only protecting you, and what's with these heels, you're like seven feet tall with them on." Sirius whined, he seemed to be in a pissy mood, and there was seemingly no reason for it. He was simply wanting to start a fight, it was pathetic.

"Well I'm sorry, it's not my fault that you're short." (y/n) shouted, she stormed off to the opposite end of the hall, first Sirius had ruined her conversation with Clye, and now he was just flat out insulting her, what had gotten into him.

She'd never seen him act so, so childish. He'd always kept cool, even when things went horribly wrong, was he seriously jealous of a small conversation? It seemed so, though perhaps there was more too it as well.

You see, Sirius had had a sort of preminition, and it was driving him mad. In all actuality it was a dream that he'd had the night before the ball. Something horrible was to go wrong, and he didn't know to whom, though it was guaranteed to be one of his friends.

This little dream possessed no logic nor reason, though Sirius sought to speak with his divination teacher about it, and she fed into his little dream, calling it a vision. She'd only done it to get back at the boy for falling asleep in her class.

So now Sirius was left believing that a disaster was to happen at the ball, thanks to careless teachers and their gullable students. Sirius couldn't shake the feeling that the bad thing would happen to (y/n), hence the overprotectiveness. He was just on edge is all, though now he'd seen the recoil, and he realized that he'd need to apologize if he hoped to spend the rest of the night with (y/n).
