After dinner had concluded (y/n) sought to give Sirius a house tour, she needed to escape her parents gaze for a moment, it was all too much at the moment. Sirius had initially stopped trying to win the battle of questions with (y/n)'s father, he'd accepted his complete loss.
He was also feeling a great deal of guilt, what he'd said to Remus was harsh, and he hadn't really meant it. Though, there was no taking back his actions, he'd have to make it right to (y/n) herself. It was just so difficult, and ironic, since the last time Sirius had tried telling the truth it was Remus who had barged in on him.
"And here's my room, you'll be staying-"
"Here, with you, right?" Sirius asked, though it sounded more like a demand.
"No, there's only one bed." (y/n) said, she folded her arms and stared at the boy, he could be too much at times.
"I don't see the problem." Sirius said, he was so close to (y/n) now, she turned her head to escape his gaze.
"No no, you can't Sirius." (y/n) said, she shoved a pillow onto his chest and shut the door.
Sirius sighed and headed away from the room, (y/n)'s parents stood in the guest bedroom awaiting his arrival, it came as a shock to the boy when he saw their dark figures waiting in the shadows of the room.
"Sirius, enjoy, and if you need anything just ask. Good night." Lucille said with a smile, she'd said the words with loads of kindness and good intention, she'd been awaiting him to simply tell him that. Though her husband on the other hand had a few other things to say to the boy.
Sirius could sense this, so he turned to the man and began to speak:
"Look, about dinner, I was a little rude-"
"No, no, I started it." Eugene said, he folded his arms and leaned to the side. There was silence for a moment, Sirius was waiting for the man to exit, he couldn't wait til morning, when he'd get to see (y/n) again.
"You know about us, I just can't tell how much." Eugene muttered to himself, he did so loudly enough that Sirius was able to hear. His tone was terrifying, there was so much hatred and unease behind his words. It shook the boy to the core.
"Know what." Sirius stated, he looked to the floor in shame, and his smile had faded into a deep frown. He couldn't let himself get intimidated, he couldn't let himself lose to this man.
"That my daughter is a mermaid." Eugene said plainly, it was so strange to Sirius how the man just threw the word around like that. Though to man like him it was nothing more than a word, he'd said it hundreds of times in his lifetime.
"Yeah, I do." Sirius murmured, he wouldn't back down from this, though he wasn't sure what this man was trying to prove. He obviously disliked Sirius, that's how he took it after all, though Eugene was simply trying to protect his daughter, this was a sort of test for Sirius. He wasn't doing to well on it at the moment.
"I bet your scared of her, that's why you haven't told her about things, you want to keep on preserving this perfect little relationship of yours." Eugene smirked, he wasn't entirely wrong, though the difference was that Sirius had tried to tell (y/n), though his plans were foiled every time.
"Scared, of what." Sirius scoffed, he was deeply annoyed with this man, he could see through his plan slightly, he could tell that everything he said would be used against him. Sirius had to act diligently and prove himself in the moment. Though of course we all know that he is quite worthy of (y/n).
"Oh you know, the gills, and the scales, and all that good stuff." Eugene said with a smile, Sirius could tell the man was simply protecting his daughter, he didn't understand why, he didn't know about the other boy who'd found out about her. When (y/n)'s father found out nearly all hell broke loose, so of course it was only natural that he make sure the girl's heart never broke again.
"Well, it's getting quite late, and this interrogation is getting boring, I think I'll be off." Eugene added, he closed the lights and headed slowly down the hall. Sirius sat in the darkness, thinking of all the things that he'd done to (y/n), and the problems they had, and how badly he was hurting her by not telling the truth.
Though Sirius knew that he couldn't do it here, there were too many eyes on him. He'd have to do it once they'd returned to Hogwarts, that was a place where he felt the most comfortable.
