Sirius and (y/n) hadn't uttered a single word to each other, though now they had reached the bathrooms.

"I understand if you don't want to be with me anymore." (y/n) said, Sirius felt a pain in his heart as she said the words, of course he wanted to be with her, and only now did he understand the confusion and turmoil that the girl had been feeling all of this time.

She believed he was just finding things out now, Sirius would need to explain himself in full to make things right.

"Why would I want that." Sirius muttered, he turned the water on and helped (y/n) slip off her dress, which was hardly stained due to its red coloring. The boy rummaged his pocket for the neck;ace, and he was satisfied when his hand managed to reach the paper packaging.

"Well I don't know, maybe because I'm a mermaid." (y/n) said, she was even more confused than before, Sirius just placed a finger to the girls lips to get her to quiet down. He then handed her the present, and (y/n) opened it in silence. She was immediately mesmerized by the thing.

"It's beautiful." She mumbled, (y/n) was at a loss for words, though she was beginning to piece things together now.

"I haven't been completely honest with you. The thing is, I've known about all of this for a few months now." Sirius rambled, he stared (y/n) right in the eyes with every word that he spoke.

"When exactly did you find out?" (y/n) inquired, she'd never been in the water near him, it seemed improbable that he would have seen her, it must have been Remus who had told him then.

"That night at the lake, do you remember that black dog?" Sirius asked, he was trying hard to contain his smirk, though he failed miserably of course.

"That was you?!" (y/n) stated, she was completely flabbergasted, how'd he manage to pull off a thing like that. (y/n) was greatly relieved, for once her overthinking had proven to be right.

"Yeah, it's my animagus, all the Marauders took one on in support of Remus." Sirius chuckled, (y/n) folded her arms and sighed.

"Prove it."

"What?"

"Prove it, I've revealed myself, now it's your turn." (y/n) said, she folded her arms and stared at the boy, she watched carefully as he stood up from his place beside the tub, he then slowly reverted to the black dog, which had that damned shade of black fur, that was the give away.

Sirius returned to normal and sat beside (y/n) once again, he still hadn't looked at her tail.

"You're still a little scared, I can tell." (y/n) said, she grabbed Sirius' hand and brought it to the tub, she had him trace his hand against the white shimmery substance.

"Woah." Sirius said in awe, the feeling was somewhat familiar to him, as if he'd felt something like this before. Technically he had, when he touched the scale, it was the same sensation as now.

"Do your eyes always glow or is that new?" Sirius asked, it wasn't just her eyes that were glowing, even the scales smeared on the girls skin began to glow.

"Only in the dark." (y/n) muttered, she held up her hand to examine herself.

"I think I read about this in that book." Sirius teased.

"Oh please." (y/n) sighed, Sirius chuckled and noticed the girls gills, he was far less fearful of them now, and in fact he was intrigued.

Could (y/n) breathe underwater? How fast could she swim? What did she look like underwater? How deep could she swim?

"Yeah, it said that a mermaids scales or eyes light up when they're near the person they love most, or something corny like that." Sirius snarled, he had that damned smirk on his face again, though it was a signature Sirius Black look, he couldn't help but do it.

"It did not." (y/n) muttered, she was blushing now, she'd never had this happen before, perhaps the boy was right, though (y/n) was too stubborn to ever admit that.

(y/n) turned her face back to Sirius, who stared at her for a short while, he was taking things in, she seemed far more beautiful like this. Her skin was replenished and full, and her eyes had a sort of glow to them, it was truly mesmerizing.

Sirius couldn't help himself when he kissed her this time, he'd been meaning to after (y/n) had cut their time short on the dance floor. Now they were someplace quiet, and no one would bother them.

But of course, the door swung open and in came the rest of the Marauders and Lily.

"Are we interrupting?" Remus teased, he came and sat down on a stack of towels, he'd forced the others to come and apologize, at least, he wanted to one's who didn't know to apologize. Lily was simply tagging along.

"No no, we were just clearing the air." (y/n) replied, the glowing from her skin and eyes had stopped now, and she quickly returned back to her regular mermaid state.

"We're sorry for not doing anything back there (y/n)." James said, Peter added a little 'that's right' to James' statement for good measure.

"I can't believe Sirius knew, he can't ever keep a secret." Peter muttered, Sirius felt a little embarrassed by that statement, though it was entirely true.

"I helped him out with that." Remus chuckled.

"We just came to say that, if anyone gives you a hard time then we'll be sure to kick their asses for you." James said with a smile.

"I'm glad to hear it." (y/n) said, she hadn't even considered what school would be like after this, and to be perfectly frank, she wasn't looking forward to it, any of it. The others left after saying their little statements, leaving (y/n) and Sirius alone again.

"I want you to stay by my side for these next few weeks." Sirius said sternly, he was so stoic now, it was completely out of character for him.

"I'll be fine Sirius, I-"

"I mean it, I don't want anything else bad to happen to you this year." Sirius said, he embraced (y/n) and whispered something in her ear.

"Did I ever tell you that you're the most beautiful girl in the world."
