Hidden Spark on Earth (TFP)

Chapter 10

Saphira did not know how long she had been standing in the shower scrubbing her body until her skin was red and raw from how hard she was scrubbing. Not only that, but her ribs hurt a lot more than they had before. She figured she really should go and see Ratchet once she was clean...but she had to put her clothes back on. She had nothing new but the clothes she had right now. She grumbled a little to herself as the shower water rinsed off her body.

"Hey Saphira!" She flinched upon hearing Miko's voice. She groaned loudly when she heard her. "You've been in here for two hours, the bots are asking when you are going to come out to check your injuries." Saphira did not respond to the girl. "Anyway, Bulkhead and I dropped into a thrift store, I figured you wouldn't want to wear the clothes before so I got you something."

Miko got me something?

"Why did you bother getting me anything, Miko?" Saphira asked as she rests her forehead on the wall of the shower. "I am just a nuisance..."

"Look, I am sorry about what I said earlier. I should not have said it, sometimes I say things without thinking." Yeah, no kidding. "This is my way of saying sorry. I don't have much pocket money, so I am not able to get you brand new stuff. I know Fowler is taking you to get new clothes tomorrow, but at least you can wear clothes that don't smell of death."

"Thanks Miko...and it is fine..." Saphira looked up at the ceiling with a slight smile. "I am still not even sure if I want to go...I don't want anyone wasting money and time on me."

"And are you going to tell Ratchet he's wasting precious medical time on you?" Miko asked curiously, making the girl frown. "Look, I am not sure what torment you went through at home. I know I seem like I don't care. Well, I do care, Saphira. I care about you."

She rolled her eyes at that. Saphira did not understand why everyone keeps saying they care about her. They should just admit that they don't care. It would be better if they did, she preferred hearing the truth than hearing a lie.

"You have a very funny way of showing it, Miko. And personally, I would prefer if you did not care. Nobody should care about me. I just need to be left alone, and I will go about like I always have. Invisible, or dead." Saphira closed her eyes a little. "Death is at least peaceful."

Miko was silent for a moment, she was not believing what she was hearing from Saphira. "I hope someone will change your mind, Saphira. You are a nice girl, you just have this giant cage around you right now. You need to be a tiger and fight your way out of it."

"It isn't that simple, Miko. You do not know what I have been through. No one does...no one will care even if I tell them. At least I can look decent. Thanks for the clothes. If you can work out which cubicle I am in, just throw the clothes over, I will put them on." Saphira heard the girl sigh and walk to find which shower she was in.

"At least I can say I tried...but..." Miko stopped walking and suddenly her tone changed to sadness. "I do not know what your mother was like. If she is not here anymore, I just wonder if she would be happy with how you've turned out. And how you are pushing people away."

"You don't know anything," Saphira repeated bluntly. "Now please, leave me alone. I will go and Ratchet shortly...if it is even worth the effort."

She looked to the door and saw clothes being hung over the door. "Fine, whatever. I just wish you would talk to someone."

I just wish for everyone to leave me alone...

Miko left the showers and Saphira was finally able to finish off her shower. She turned it off and dried herself, walking over to the clothes that were hung over the door. She smiled a little, it was a black pair of jeans, black flip flops, a black and white zebra pattern shirt and black underwear. Black was her favourite colour at the moment. She slipped on the new clothes, she found they were a little big, but it was fine. She doubted she would put much weight on anyway.
