Trigger Warning for Chapter due to Suicidal Attempt
Saphira was close to the edge of the rocky mountain. She looked down, there was almost nothing in the way. The corner of her lips twitch, at least it won't hurt if she jumped. It would quick and painless, all she had to do was close her eyes and push off. Yet, she still had something holding her back. Her thoughts went to the autobots. Would they really be happy if she was gone?
They will be thrilled! No more human to watch over and groan about living in the home.
This was for the best. She stepped closer, several small rocks give way under her feet and fall towards the ground. She stared at the bottom, knowing that all her problems would vanish. No more pain, no more fear, no more tears. Just peace, sleep...and seeing her mother again. She glanced up at the clouds with a smile.
I am sorry I couldn't do much mom, but I will see you shortly.
"Saphira STOP!" She flinched when she heard Fowler's shocked voice. "Fowler to base, some of you bots need to be at the bottom of this rock. This girl is standing right at the edge."
"Oh, don't tell me you're joking," Ratchet said through the radio with a groan.
"I'm not kidding." Fowler's face softened as she did not look at him. "Saphira, step back from the ledge."
"Give me one good reason why," Saphira said, closing her eyes to keep herself from looking at him.
"You have a family in this base who care a lot about you," Fowler said confidently. "You have absolutely no idea what they would not do for you. The autobots have never had this many humans to adjust their lives to accommodate for, and I think it has been a good experience for them."
She clenched her jaw tightly. "Not good enough."
"What is the point of ending your life right now, Saphira?" Fowler asked gently, he was stepping closer slowly so he could grab her and pull her away from the edge. "Don't you want something more with your life? Do you want to mean something in this world?"
"I used to..." Saphira sniffled a little. "Now...it does not matter."
"Saphira, please listen to me," Fowler pleads gently. "I know you lost your mother a long time ago. I would wonder what she is thinking right now, watching her only child ready to jump and end her own life. A life that has only lived a short life."
"You...don't know...what she would think," Saphira managed to say, taking in a deep breath. "You still have not given me any good reason. I have nothing...no one...I am just...a stupid, ugly, girl...my only worth is to die."
Fowler opened his mouth to say something and jumped when the ground bridge vortex suddenly shows up by him. He looked at Saphira as he stepped closer. "None of that is true..."
"It is true..." She leaned forward to make her center of gravity shift. "I don't want to do this anymore."
As her body fell forward, she heard the heavy, running footsteps over someone behind her. "NO!" She snapped her eyes open as she heard Optimus's voice. She shrieked loudly as his hand snatched her and she looked up to see him grab the edge and his feet slamming into the side of the rocky mountain. She trembled, staring at him with wide eyes in disbelief. He saved her life. He looked at her with wide, sad optics before pulling himself back up onto the ledge. "Why would you do that? Saphira, I told you to give us a chance. And you were quick to throw it away. Why?"
Saphira felt her throat tightening and she looked away from him. "I...I'm scared...I d-d-don't know h-h-how...I d-d-don't know what h-h-happiness is anymore...I...c-c-can never trust anyone..."
