When the next day came, Saphira woke up to a scent she wasn't familiar with. She got out of bed and walked out into the large room and widened her eyes to see William at the stove cooking food. She saw he was cooking bacon, eggs, baked beans and he had bread in a toaster. She was very surprised, especially since the toaster was definitely new, and she wasn't accustomed to eating this kind of food. Saphira breathed in the aroma, it was pleasant, and her stomach growled angrily at her.
"Good morning!" Fowler said in a cheerful mood when he looked towards her door and saw Saphira standing there. "I see the bacon woke you up." She smirked slightly at him and he chuckled softly. "I hope you are looking forward to working on self defence today."
"I am." Saphira walked over to him as she looked in the fry pan. "Um...that's quite a lot of food." The man looked at her in surprise and she smiled at him. "I told you I may not be able to handle it. Plus...I don't think I've ever had bacon...and it's been so long since I've had eggs."
"You do need other sources of nutrition, Saphira," Fowler said to her kindly with a smile. "Baked beans are great for the protein, but you need other things too. And don't forget to include fruit and vegetables at some point." She rolled her eyes at him as it sounded like something someone would say to a kid. "I know you've put weight on and you are looking healthier, but you need variety."
"I know." Saphira did want to have variety in her diet. But she also did not want to push herself to eat so much if she was not able to. "But...if I can't have everything, just don't force me to eat it. After all, I am not used to eating a lot. At most, a cup was what I had daily."
The man's face softened slightly as he heard her say that. "I guess I understand." He picked up a plate that already had buttered toast on it. "I'll fill a plate for you than." He put a couple slices of bacon on the plate, one egg and scooped up some of the baked beans. "If you are still hungry, there is plenty here. Oh, and there is some juice in the fridge. I wasn't sure what you would like, so I brought a choice of orange juice, apple juice and pineapple juice."
Saphira hasn't had any kind of juice since she was child, so this was certainly a surprise. She thought about it before walking over to the fridge and opened it, widening her eyes in surprise when she saw butter, sliced cheese, ham, a whole roast chicken, apples and the juice he had mentioned. She shakes her head a little, this still felt too much to her. But...it was nice to have variety. She grabbed the pineapple juice and filled a cup.
"Do you want some?" Saphira asked the man and he nodded. She poured him a glass before she grabbed her plate, knife and fork and walked over to the couch to sit down, she didn't have any proper table yet, but that was okay. She looked at the food on her plate, feeling a bit intimidated about it. "I know people do eat like this regularly...but...I really feel strange about it."
Fowler felt sad hearing Saphira speak about food that way. He knew she didn't eat much after her mother's passing, but...the way she spoke about food as something to be fearful of...he's never heard of such a thing before. "Take small bites if you feel overwhelmed, Saphira. Don't make yourself sick. The autobots will be very unhappy at me about it."
Saphira smiled and nodded, deciding that small bites was a good idea. She settled on the baked beans first as she had been eating them regularly, and it would help ease herself into eating the other food. At least, hoped for that. She began to eating it happily, enjoying the warmth from the beans as she ate. She raised an eyebrow when Fowler sat beside her and his plate was fuller than hers. She didn't say anything regarding it as she knew Fowler was used to eating this way. Fowler was happy Saphira was eating, even if it was just the beans first.
Saphira did begin eating the egg in small bites. She hummed softly and enjoyed the food, finding herself not getting sick and welcoming it. Including the bacon once she got to it. And she was thrilled by the salty taste of the meat. However, she didn't eat all of it and she left half of the toast, egg and bacon on the plate. She felt satisfied enough though, and Fowler could now see just how much she was able to eat. It wasn't too bad at all. She did drink all of the juice though to wash it down.
