The next day came and the base was quiet. The bots were in recharge and Bumblebee had left to go to Raf's house to pick him up. There are a sense of peace now that Megatron had been vanquished. Saphira was currently in a deep sleep, she was curled up on the couch. The bots had worried about her having another nightmare, though at least this time she seemed free from that.

Optimus came out of recharge early. His mind had been plagued with Saphira and what she had said. He told Ratchet, Arcee and Bumblebee what Saphira had ranted to him, and Ratchet had stated that he now believes someone in her family had beaten her. Even if it was not her father as she had said, someone had inflicted her body with injuries and withheld the correct food from her so she could grow up healthy.

He rubbed his forehead as he stared at the ceiling from his berth. Optimus didn't quite understand why he couldn't get her out of his processors. That girl somehow had him distracted. He felt the desire to protect her, to comfort her. That desire was unfamiliar to him. Especially with what happened in the past.

He slid off the berth and left his quarters to make his way to Saphira's room to check on her. He hoped that she had more trust now that the bots knew a little more about her story, though it was hard to say. The way she processes things is not the same as the children. Her believing that she is a nuisance and a burden is troubling to him. He worried she would do something that could be irreversible. Especially when Ratchet told him last night that Jack had warned the medic that Saphira could try to kill herself. Such a thing was concerning to him.

The doors open into the large room, Saphira had suspected it was a testing area of the old missile silo. At least there was no evidence that would suggest that it was. Optimus looked down at the couch, the girl was facing the back of the chair, she was curled with her arms folded and legs up against her stomach. He was careful taking a step closer as he was aware she was nervous around his footsteps being a large bot. He dropped down on one knee and looked at her closely. He could not see her face with how she was laying, but he let his optics look over her body. Saphira's hair was just below shoulder length, yet it was beautiful. It was one of the first things Optimus thought when he first met her. Her eyes and hair were beautiful. Now he was looking at her closely, he noticed how pale her skin was. The dim lights of the room seemed to reflect from that skin. When the bruises were healed, he was certain that her natural beauty would radiate.

Optimus frowned slightly as he realized that he was having odd thoughts about this human. He rubbed the side of his head, hoping to get those thoughts out of his head. However, it was difficult. He heard Saphira groan softly and froze, he watched her as she shifted onto her back and took a deep breath. She did not open her eyes, they remained closed and she kept sleeping.

He exhaled a sigh of relief and he looked at her face. Without any tears or sadness, her face was relaxed and...beautiful. Optimus closed his optics and shook his head. Something must be wrong with him for him to be registering beauty like this from a human. He had no thoughts like that when it came to Miko, and she was another female human. Optimus opened his optics and looked down at her, and he realized that Saphira was shivering. She was cold.

Optimus had no idea on how to help her get warm. He could pick her up and hold her against his chassis, but she might wake up and get scared. He thought about searching the facility for a blanket. He read that humans used blankets to keep warm while asleep during his research on human accommodations.

"What the frag are you doing, Optimus?" A quiet voice behind him nearly made Optimus get into defensive position, but he looked over his shoulder to see Bulkhead looking at him with a frown. "That's a little...weird."

"Yeah, very weird that you are staring at her while she sleeps." He looked down to see Miko and Jack, they were holding a bed frame. "We are trying to bed quiet about this anyway. Let's take this to the small room Jack, it's a better bedroom than this open space."
