Merely a day before the ambush in Tenshukaku.

You woke up in the familiar tent, seeing blue hair in the bed next to yours. Behind you, you could feel a body tightly embracing your waist. You recognized his scent immediately.

Kazuha spent most of yesterday with you. After all, it was your last chance to be with each other before you're dispatched to fight a god. In the night, he stayed beside you, wanting to feel your comfort before the big battle. Weeks of not being together took a toll on you both. You didn't realize how much you could miss a person in such a short amount of time.

Now, the sun has risen and you were to head to Narukami Island.

Separated, again.

Though you'd see each other on the battlefield, what if it all ends there? What if this was truly your last chance to feel his warmth touching your skin?

It scared you.

You grabbed the arm on your waist and placed it near your head. You held on to him, wishing to freeze time at this very moment. If the future wasn't promised, then you wished to at least cherish this.

Once the soldiers were up, so were you. Yui was silent the whole morning and so was Kazuha. There was an underlying tension. Yesterday, your spirits were high and so was your morale.

You guessed the severity of this war has finally dawned on you. Reality has finally sunk its teeth back into your flesh.

The three of you walked together to the boats. Kamisato Ayato was in one of them, several ninjas accompanying him.

"You didn't have to come here personally," Kokomi stated, making the man laugh. "You needn't worry. Though Y/N is a temporary recruit, they are necessary to our mission. It's only good manners."

Ayato smiled your way, offering you space. You looked at Kazuha and Yui, the blue-haired girl giving you a long sigh. She wrapped her arms around your shoulders, wishing you the best.

"We'll see each other again. Promise."

Yui made her way to her platoon; they were to stay near the battlefield but not engage. Medical support and additional soldiers would be there. Just like her.
