Based on the episode "Double Trouble in the Panhandle"

It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to work at the Jeffersonian. You had no idea how you had been so lucky as to get this position especially as you were just a lowly grad student. While you had a masters, you were now working on getting your PHD. Camille 'Cam' Saroyan had been almost worn down by Jack Hodgins when he had bartered, whined, even had attempted some bribery to get an intern. He had said that an intern would be there to assist, was not the word that Cam would have used. She would have preferred the term, lackey, or scapegoat, however, watching Hodgins teach you more about entomology, and the leaps and bounds that had happened since you had arrived; she was glad to have hired you. Hodgins had even published a paper since your arrival and to her surprise had made you the co-author. Now you had heard how Doctor Brennan had approved her own grad student, or more appropriately a rotating group of interns to help on the various murder cases and further in-depth research into forensic anthropology. The first one was Doctor Clark Edison, then it had been Daisy Wick, followed by a one off for that dog case and then it was Wendell Bray. The gothic Colin Fisher was next, and then it was the intern who was currently assisting on this case. The one and only Vincent Nigel-Murray, the cute British intern who was forever rattling off random facts and interesting observations.

While you enjoyed the other interns and their witticisms during cases, you did have a favourite. You often even when they were working on their studies rather than the cases, would have lunch with a few of them, usually Wendell was your main lunch partner and, on an occasion, you were joined by the other interns. It was, however, almost always Vincent.

Now you were starting a new case, Hodgins had been in the conference room micromanaging the collection of evidence and you were now beginning to get ready to categorise all of it and begin the samples for the tests you were going to do. Soon enough there was a mass of activity as the field forensics team returned with Hodgins at the helm.

While you were beginning to survey the bones for bugs and soil, Vincent was rattling off facts with Cam giving the occasional sarcastic remarks. Hodgins jumped up and began to wave his hands about and explain the samples and evidence under the bodies. Angela found the conjoined twins quicker than expected, due to them being conjoined twin jugglers in the travelling circus.

The case was interesting and seemed to have twist after twist, turning around in ways that sometimes you couldn't fathom, before the entangled strings began to straighten themselves out. However, all throughout the case, Cam and Hodgins made snippy quips mostly aimed at Vincent and his fun facts. Most of the facts were interesting and you had never heard them before, the fact often raised genuine questions you had and while you were doing the paperwork. The little quips and comments were getting to Vincent, you could see the shift in his demeanour. The bubbly quirky Vincent that you had become friends with had now become withdrawn and distant. One particular quip had stronger effect on the poor intern, and you watched as he headed off to the Bone Room with sunken shoulders. Vincent had asked you to leave it alone when you had brought it, but now you were going to step in. It wasn't right and since you had known the Jeffersonian team, they had always been preaching about doing the right thing and how they themselves had once been bullied along with how they had wished someone had taken a stand for them. Now you were going to ignore Vincent's request and hope that your friendship with him did not suffer for it. You would have suffered the loss of it if the cutting remarks stopped. "What is your problem?"

The question fell out before you could stop it. Cam, Angela and Hodgins all looked at you, Sweets had paused on the stairs he had been leaving the forensics platform. "Excuse me." Cam seemed to be giving you an escape hatch, a way out like you hadn't just called out your grad supervisor or your boss. "You've got to stop treating him like that." Well, there was no way out now. "Like what?" Hodgins seemed almost genuinely confused. "Like he's some nerd that you have beat up?" There was a short silence before you continued. "You guys have spoken about how much you were bullied because of your niche interests and now you're doing the same to Vincent. We all have ways of coping with this job, the facts might just be his way of coping." Cam pursed her lips and thought over her interactions with the young intern, before nodding her head and turning on her heels to leave. Hodgins ducked his head face almost flaming once you had finished, he quietly conceded that he had been in the wrong. He too left and seemed to head towards the Bone Room to apologise to Vincent, at least you hoped he was. You turned around and came face-to-face with Sweets. He smiled at you, "I still have a job, right?" Sweets laughed, "after calling out workplace bullying by your boss? Depends on your HR department, but Cam does appreciate honesty and opinions as long as its done respectfully so you should be fine."

After hiding from Vincent in Hodgins' lab room and once Hodgins had confirmed he had indeed apologised to Vincent for what had occurred. You headed to the Bone Room to give Brennan and Vincent your findings. You entered and it was just Vincent, you slipped into professional mode giving all your findings of evidence quickly. As you reached the door to leave Vincent called out to you. "Did you mean that?" Turning slowly you faced him, teeth pulling at your lower lip.

"You heard me?" You sounded hesitant and began to fiddle with your fingers. Vincent rocked backwards on his heels, waving his hands about a little. "This room kind of echoes and amplifies everything." Vincent pushed his lips together mashing his face into almost a grimace. He took a deep breath and bottled up his courage. "Would you want to go out with me?" You turned around to look at Vincent, he seemed nervous. You ducked your head blushing looking back up at Vincent. "You know, it only takes up to four minutes to decide whether you like someone or not?" Vincent furrowed his brow, "is that a yes?" You smiled at Vincent, "well it did only take me about two minutes to like you but yes, it is a yes."
