The italicised banter came from The Nanny, the banter is mainly from the two characters Niles and C.C Babcock, whose weird banter gave me the idea to write this one shot. All credit for the quotes goes to whoever's involved. One line is from The Originals and is spoken by Lucien, himself, this is in bold.

Klaus looked around at the gathered group, "Where the devil is Lucien?" There was silence in answer to his question until you piped up. "Well, Klaus, it is raining outside... maybe he melted?" Everyone turned to look at you. "Shall I look outside for a pointy hat and expensive suit?" You asked before Klaus rolled his eyes and everyone else smirked at your pithy comment. The gathered group was a mix of vengeful vampires, wicked witches, and the wrathful werewolves, all of whom had gathered somewhat reluctantly, although the knowledge that you and Lucien would be in the same room had inspired their appearance. The gathered group loved the rather ridiculous way of flirting, (if you could call it flirting, which they did), and witty banter that was often generated between the two of you. With a low growl, Klaus began explaining his plan for stopping the latest big bad that was plaguing the city, which he still saw himself as king over, despite the tentative peace with Marcel. The big bad was also threatening Hope, which meant that Marcel was helping due to their unusual friendship. Leaning your elbows on the table you were seated at to get more comfortable in your seated position. You weren't paying as much attention as you probably should have been, you were distracted by the spell book in front of you which held spells you in all your years of living hadn't seen before.

Standing in a rush when the sound of a vampire entering broke your concentration. Noting it was Lucien who entered, he spoke regarding his late appearance. "Apologises for my tardiness but I couldn't put a foot out of bed this morning." He gave a cocky grin with a quick look at you to gauge any jealousy, others snuck glances at you to see your reaction, hoping that you would answer with your usual pithy comment to throw Lucien of his game. Looking up at the seeming suave vampire, you widened your eyes in faux concern. "Did someone put a rock on your coffin again?" You asked annoyed at the interruption. There were some sniggers which you ignored. "Ah, Y/N, darling, I am glad that you are joining us." Lucien walked over to you, a devilish smile twisting his features. Pursing your lips in a tight annoyed smile, you waved him off, he caught your hand in his. You inhaled lightly the smell of his cologne with slight undertones of blood both fresh and old, entered your system the cologne was dazing you slightly with its teasing scent as Lucien raised your hand to his lips and pressed a kiss to your knuckles. Lucien inhaled the scent of your floral perfume, the sweet notes reminding him of your delicate nature, but also of the hidden danger underneath. "I feel like I have died and gone to heaven. Especially when I smell the sweet perfume of yours, love." He grinned at you, you assumed due to his enhanced vampire abilities he heard the way your heart rate increase at his teasing. You quipped back quickly, "I have that dream, too, but you go in the other direction." Klaus rolled his eyes, "if we could get back to the task at hand?" He growled. There were some annoyed grumbles at the fact the show between you and Lucien was ending. You sat back down and Lucien leaned on the wall behind you, his eyes rarely leaving your figure.

Lucien looked over at Klaus, "We could organise an accident, which may kill her and not arouse any suspicions." Everyone looked over at him, "Accidents happen, you know." You pursed your lips and nodded, pointing at Lucien. "Exhibit A." Again there were scattered smirks and sniggers, mostly because you were finding subtle ways of irritating/flirting with the unhinged vampire. Lucien's lips twitched, but before he could say anything either flirtatious or cutting back, Elijah cut in. "Rather restrained for you, Lucien, what happened to your usual flair for drama?" Lucien scowled at the original who had taunted him, and told him with his usual smugness. "I find I can catch more flies with honey." You looked over at Lucien confusion lacing your features, and gave a quick quip in reply. "I always thought your tongue darted out." Elijah ran his tongue over his teeth as a way of stopping his smile, it wasn't very effective but Lucien had turned his attention to you and as such hadn't noticed, and you hadn't been looking in his direction anyway. The rest of the group was watching eagerly at your flirtatious banter. Lucien was looking at you with an unreadable expression. "Why are you doing this? Helping us?" You asked Lucien curious as to his intentions. "I like to fight for the defenceless creatures." He seemed to say sardonically, you rolled your eyes. "Now say it like you actually mean it this time." You told Lucien. He leaned down placing one of his hands on the table in front of you and moving into your space. He whispered his next statement in an almost tender way, "I'll fight for all those small, defenceless creatures out there." You nodded sagely, looked over at Elijah and pointed at Lucien. "Exhibit B." Elijah smirked slightly and shared a knowing look with Klaus which you couldn't quite read. Lucien bit his lip, and gave you an annoyed look, before resuming his position of leaning against the wall behind you.

One of the vampires who had gathered to help looked over at you, "Are you single by choice?" Before you could answer Klaus cut in, "Yes, but not hers." You narrowed your eyes at him while he smirked at you, the tops of his perfect teeth showing. Klaus left for a few moments to allow the three sections of groups, to discuss the plans. As they moved closer into their segments, Lucien spoke, "What is this un-natural obsession Klaus has with his daughter? I can count the number of days I spent with my father on one hand." You looked shocked as you moved to sit with the witches, "Seven?" There was scattered laughter as Lucien's eyes darkened. "We need to discuss this plan in our groups we need to know if it will work." Elijah spoke trying to quell growing tension in the room. "It will work." Lucien spoke with his usual level of confidence. "I'll bet my reputation on it!" You shrugged, and spoke in a deadpan 'I'm sorry' tone, "Sorry, there's a five dollar minimum." Lucien's lips twitched in a smile. He enjoyed your banter, the way you gave as good as you got, how it didn't seem to bother you when he teased you, but in fact made you flush with colour. "Well, love, you know my reputation, after all you have gotten a close look." You flushed violently, and there were shocked gasps throughout the room, but you didn't speak.

Waving your hand as Lucien was about to leave, caught him in your spell. He struggled, "Let me go, love, though I do enjoy this side of you, but I do have business to attend to." You simply tightened the spell. "Let go of me you old..." You gave a saccharine innocent smile, and attempted to sincerely warn him, "All right but I just..." Lucien moved off quickly, stumbling slightly as he righted himself. He began to use his speed to run off when you all heard a rather un-Lucien like screech, "... waxed the floor." You finished lamely. Elijah's lips twitched and everyone else tried to hide their laughter behind their hands. Lucien re-entered the room, his suit stained and rumbled from his fall. "Klaus is on his way back." Elijah warned the group as they had abandoned their discussions in favour of watching the theatre between you and Lucien. "Well, if Klaus is coming over tonight, I better go change." Lucien spoke sarcastically. "And I thought he had to wait for a full moon..." He stalked off, Elijah leaned to mutter into your ear, "Careful, Y/N. Lucien is not one to take this lightly." You shrugged with a grin.

Later that night, you were walking along the dimly lit street, when the usual sound of a vampire racing caught your attention, you spun but couldn't see them. Turning to face forwards once more you jumped when Lucien had suddenly appeared in front of you. He smiled softly at you, his eyes flitting over your face as the warm breeze scented by jasmine and roses sent some strands of hair brushing over your cheek. Lucien smile faded slightly but his eyes softened as he took the sight of you in. He brushed his fingers gently over your cheek, tucking the strands of hair back behind your ear. "Hello, love." You swallowed and attempted to sound disdained at his appearance but instead your voice came out in a whisper. "Lucien." He smiled at the change. "While this has been fun." He brushed his knuckles along your cheek. "One thing we can agree on, this delicate, little theatre between us does need to reach a conclusion." You tried to hide your soft smile by biting your bottom lip, but it didn't help. "I heard you thought you could win a kissing contest." You furrowed your eyebrows, wondering where he was going with this. "Oh, it is so pathetic, you thinking you could win a kissing contest. I mean kissing is an art, it has to be sensuous, deeply felt, and most of all, spontaneous." With that final line, Lucien dipped his head and wrapped an arm around your waist pulling you close, the hand that had been on your cheek cupped your jaw tilting your head up so your lips met his. His tongue ran along the seam of your lips, you opened your mouth to allow him entrance. Soon you needed air, pulling away, you looked up at him through your lashes, nipping at your lip. "Was it as bad for you as it was for me?" You whispered teasingly with a grin. "Shut up." He demanded as he slid his hand that was cupping your cheek to the back of your neck to pull you in for another kiss.
