Waving at Nicky, Katie watched as she bounded into the DA's office. She was heading into her mother's office for the afternoon before going to dinner. Katie was the eldest of Danny and Linda Reagan, she was also older than her cousin Nicky by a month. Katie placed her headphones over her ears, putting on the Irish folk songs she loved. As she paused waiting for the lights to change, she adjusted the volume of her music. She did this until it was at its lowest so she could still hear everything going on around her. Katie was after all the daughter of Danny and Linda Reagan, a decorated cop and no-nonsense nurse; she was also the great-granddaughter and the granddaughter of the Police Commissioner as well as the niece to a cop and ADA. She was also a woman, so she knew intimately the dangers of New York and being a woman. All this was way when she saw the strange car following her, she had ducked down a busy street. Katie pulled her phone out and readied the text that would alert her father she was in danger, something he had insisted on.

Katie ducked into another busy street, filled with people; busy New Yorkers who were going about their business. The people paid no attention to the college girl hurrying down the pavement. Katie ducked between two shops and was about to send the text to her father when a hand descended on her mouth. She fought back, using the self defence skills her father had learn in case of something like this. Katie struggled against the person who was attempting to pull her towards their vehicle. In the scuffle she managed to hold onto her phone despite dropping her bag, she had also managed to send the text when she was shoved into trunk of the car. Katie managed to rub the back of her head, she had wacked it when she had been thrown in.

Danny was sitting in his Lieutenant Dee Ann Carver in her office, his phone on his desk so he didn't see it light up with a text. Maria Baez did, however, she picked it up hoping it was the lab with their test results. It wasn't that, it was instead a text from Danny Reagan's only daughter. Maria's brow furrowed as she read the text, running it through her mind. It didn't seem right and knowing that Danny had codes with his family, she stood and entered Carver's office. Carver looked unimpressed at the interruption but at this point Baez didn't really care. "Danny, you have a weird text from your daughter." She held the phone out and Danny snatched it from her hand. Carver raised her eyebrow, "family of cops, they have codes for basically everything." Baez explained. After he had read it, his phone rang, showing an unknown number. Danny answered it. While Danny did this, Carver called the commissioner's office and Baez called security at the DA's office to get Danny's sister into protective custody as well as Nicky. Danny's face was thunder now, "he has my daughter." Baez stood straight as ice water flooded her veins, while she knew it could be possible for someone else to have kidnapped Katie Reagan when she had seen the text. She knew in her bones, that it had to be Thomas Wilder due to the cases they were working and the troubles they were having with the FBI over this.

Danny's anger could be felt by all of the officers outside Carver's office, they all shrunk back and made themselves smaller when he stormed out. The officers may have been slightly scared of Danny Reagan's anger, but they also felt his pain, most of them sent sneaky texts to their wives, husbands, boyfriends and girlfriends that they would be home late tonight; perhaps not at all. One young newly minted detective was desperately trying to convince his boyfriend that bringing dinner for the station was a bad idea, but his partner had yanked it out of his hand and confirmed that yes dinner would be great. Danny was pacing, trying desperately to figure out how he could find his daughter, Baez and Carver had gone to follow a lead, leaving him behind. He was still doing this when his sister ran into the building, a flustered cop following. "I'm sorry, detective, she's..." Danny cut across the apologises both annoyed at his sister for running into danger and grateful that she was here. "A Reagan, don't worry about it." The detective was waved away, while Danny pulled his sister into his boss's office. "What are you doing here?" Danny tried to sound stern, but it came out more annoyed than anything. "I just got this; thought you should see it." Erin held out her phone and shook it in Danny's face. Danny grabbed his sister's wrist, he read the text. "This from...?" Erin nodded frantically, Danny leaned out the office and shouted at one of the officers. The poor officer ran in, a terrified look on his face. "Get me TARU." The officer ran out and returned soon after with another officer. Danny shoved Erin's phone at the TARU officer, "trace the text, it's from my daughter." The TARU officer sat gingerly in Carver's chair and typed hurriedly on her computer tracing Katie's phone. Danny grabbed his keys, "call me when you have a location." Erin followed him arguing that he shouldn't do this; that this was exactly what Wilder wanted. She continued this all the way to the car, until Danny's glare stopped her.

Danny's phone rang and Erin placed it on speaker, they got a location. They saw the car first, Danny handed Erin his spare gun. "Don't shoot me. Keep your hand on the gun and call for back up." Erin looked at her brother annoyed. They both moved on the car, Danny checked it out. It was empty, Danny heard the rustling of the grass surrounding the area. He then popped the trunk and was meet with the terrified face of his daughter. Danny breathed a sigh of relief. He pulled her out and hugged her tightly as Katie began to cry. He kissed her forehead, "he went into the grass, he said you'd follow him as you want this over." Erin took Katie in her arms and allowed her niece to sob in her arms. There was a single gunshot and Katie flinched at the same time her aunt did. The rest of the 54th arrived as Danny came out of the swishing grass with a weighted look about him. He gathered his daughter in his arms as well as tucking his younger sister into the hug. Erin called Linda on Danny's phone and held it to Katie's ear so she could talk to her mother.

That Sunday dinner was weird mixture of a tense and relieved atmosphere. Linda and Danny flanked their children, Erin sat opposite with Jamie and her daughter. Sean and Jack had insisted on sitting near their older sister. No one talked about Katie's kidnapping nor the death of Thomas Wilder or the IA investigation that had occurred afterwards. Katie had been quiet since her ordeal which worried her family. Danny was having a silent conversation with both Erin and Linda; it was mostly through facial expressions. Erin was trying to convince Danny to agree to something. Linda was on Erin's side on whatever the matter was. As they ate, Danny thought over Erin's suggestion. He caught Linda's eye and nodded. Linda gave a soft smile, Erin gave Danny, her patented told you so look.
