"Jack! Julie! Let's go!" Aaron yelled at his two children as he grabbed his gear ready for his day. He checked his phone, no urgent texts from Garcia informing him about a case. He sent a quick text to Jessica, Hayley's sister, to inform her that he may be able to pick his children up from school. She replied quickly, going through her own morning routine. Jack bounced into the room, he was younger than Julie by five years, she had been born soon after her parent's marriage with Jack coming a few years after their father's move to the FBI. Julie walked into the room, dumping her bag on a chair as she swiped her cell phone from the table. "Got your gear?" Her father asked, Julie straightened using her index and middle finger to salute her father. "Yes, Unit Chief sir." Her father gave a dry chuckle at his fifteen-year-old daughter's wit. Jack grabbed his backpack and headed for the door; Julie did the same.
Aaron pulled up to his daughter's high school having already dropped his son off at his school. "Remember, I have volleyball at the park today, from lunch. It's a meet up of other teams in the area and a series of friendly games before the tournaments." Her father nodded. "Be careful." She climbed out the car, "be safe." She told him, before heading off to meet her friends. He watched as his daughter and her group of friends headed inside the school building. He drove off to the BAU, hoping against hope that today would be peaceful.
He spent the morning following up on his paperwork, trying to get ahead of the mountain that always seemed to pile on his desk. He made various calls throughout the morning chasing up paperwork and reports that hadn't been sent. Aaron looked out of his office window every now and then to keep an eye on his team, JJ and Emily were both studiously completely their own paperwork, stopping for coffee every so often. They would swap turns getting the coffee, Emily would take the opportunity when Reid's back was turned to sneak a file from her pile to his, he would return the favour when she went to get coffee. Morgan wasn't as subtle dropping his files on top of someone else's pile whenever he walked past. Garcia was dividing her morning spent either fixing some server that Hotch was almost sure he didn't want to know about and doing something he knew he didn't want to know about on her laptop.
Julie sat on the bus, in the middle with the window seat. Her best friend Amelia sat beside her, texting her not so secret boyfriend. The bus sputtered and came to a stop, the driver sighed. He pulled over and parked. It wasn't the park they were heading to, the team disembarked. As the driver cursed down the phone to whomever was on the other side. The team stretched their legs when a bloodcurdling scream from the youngest member, Lucille, spilt the air. Julie ran towards her along with the rest of the team and the coach. When Julie arrived, she went pale and covered her mouth in shock. She bundled the hysterical girl into her arms. The coach took Lucille from Julie. The driver called the police and the team walked back to the bus on shaky legs. Julie fished her phone out and called her father. She could hear the restrained anger and worry in his voice.
Hotch stormed from his office, Rossi who had been talking with Emily at her desk saw the anger in his face. They jumped grab their gear along with the rest of the team. When all of them aside from Garcia were in the elevator, Reid asked with a note of breathlessness. "What's going on?" Aaron swallowed, and his shoulder's tensed. "Julie's bus for her volleyball trip found a dead body when they broke down." The rest of the BAU tensed, Julie was Aaron's oldest child and was the darling of their FBI office.
When they arrived, Emily and JJ went to talk to the coach and Lucille, the rest of the team split up and talked to the team, the driver, and the attending police while Rossi went to see the dead body with the medical examiner while Aaron checked on his daughter. He left to talk to Rossi while his daughter walked towards Lucille to comfort the younger girl. A hand wrapped around her bicep and yanked her in another direction and a gun was pressed to her side. She shrieked which drew the attention of her father's team to her. A muscled arm pressed against her collarbone, almost strangling her. The guy began to pull her towards a car that was in the parking lot. Julie screamed once more and the BAU turned to face her and saw Hotch's second worst nightmare beginning to come true. Emily noticed Hotch's body grow even tenser, she could feel the anger pulsing off him from were she was standing. She moved closer to him, while the team processed what was going on. Julie shrieked for a third time, snapping the team out of their daze.
The BAU snapped into action, drawing their weapons while the cops pulled Julie's teammates away so they couldn't get injured. Aaron kept his daughter's eyes on him, he knew what was flashing through her mind. Her mother's death was similar to the situation his daughter was in now, the only difference was that he was here, and he wasn't going to let this scum hurt his little girl. The gun was waving around her head now while Rossi and Morgan tried to talk the guy down. Emily was ready to tackle Hotch if she absolutely had too. The arm branded against Julie's chest fell away. She noted the gun was pointed at JJ now, she took her chance. She threw her elbow as hard as she could against the guy's face. Before dropping the ground and sweeping his feet from under him. She scurried away while Morgan tackle the guy to the ground. Julie got to her feet and was almost immediately falling to the ground once more with the force of her father's hug.
