Chapter 2
Shahzain POV
Hearing her name after so long, felt weird. The thought that only her name could still make me this vulnerable was unsettling. Even after everything she had a powerful hold on me that would make me undone. This woman alone hold enough power over me to ruin me and she had no idea.
It's been 650 days, nearly 2 years since I last saw her, since we parted our ways, since I ruined everything selfishly, since I lost her. Time was a weird thing it passed quickly but it never let anyone forget it's value and the memories associated with it. It makes us relive that time again and again until we haven't learned our lesson.
I still remember the day I met her back in America, how we met, how we gave each other another chance because both of us hated the idea that we both were forced into something none of us liked. We tried to rewrite our destiny but we couldn't.
I was brought back to reality when I heard my father speaking, it was same thing that has been going on for years, the same lines repeated again and again, the only difference was the time and place. the people were same, the words were same and the effect was the same.
"Whatever happened was because of misunderstandings and..." He stopped in his tracks because he knew that he was at the wrong, not just him, everyone. Everyone who drove their loved ones out of their lives because of misunderstandings. Everything started with that stupid misunderstanding and it ended with one much more stupid. Shahvaiz looked at Baba and then at me, maybe trying to understand what to do next but then he simply just let out a breath.
Azhar chachu was quiet at first, we all sat back awaiting for him as her had a frown marred his forehead. "Mujhey bhi pata hai aur apko bhi, ke ap yaha yeh baat kerney nahi aye, ap sab yaha is liye nahi aye." His words were precise and exact, simply indicating he wanted nothing more to do with us.
(You and I both know that you are not here to talk about this. none of you are here for this.)
And he was right, if the discussion topic was past regrets, none of us were ready to be here. We were human species after all, the most selfish and conceiting species. I ranked a hand through my hair, slightly pulling on them, the more they prolonged this the more, will I have to sit here, and that means more chances of seeing her. And god knew I wasn't ready to face her yet.
I took a deep breath and then blurted it out. "Dada wants you back." All the heads turned towards me. Baba glaring at me and giving looks of disappointments. Azhar chachu just raised an eyebrow at me and then shook his head. He got up and looked direct at my father.
"Some chapters are better closed." His words meant that our time was up and we should probably take our leave. I got up first, my breathing was starting to get erratic, if I don't get out of this here now, I would probably say something unsettling.
I felt Shahvaiz looking at me, he could obviously sense some was wrong. He too stood and then motioned baba to leave. If baba listened to anyone, it had to be Shahvaiz. Just as we all got up and moved towards the door, it opened from the other side. There stood the reason of my reckless nights and my runs. My wife
