Chapter 9
Third person's POV
The night remained cold, the leaves blew along the wind, breezing past everything. The night sky had a talent for making everything seem more vulnerable, it showed the flaws everyone tried to hide during the daylight. Maybe that is the reason most tragedies happen at night because we are most vulnerable then.
Mahnoor was waiting for Mehrma in her room, not sure why but she couldn't really stand everything at once. At one side there was her somewhat ex fiancé still with those pictures and the other was her sister with her secrets.
And even though she had her own problems she couldn't ignore Mehrma's. She couldn't ignore how broken she looked, how since Shahzain's arrival, her light had dimmed, the way her face drops at the mere sight of him, or how silence had become her favorite language nowadays. They had a past that was sure but it was also confirmed that it wasn't one to be remembered.
She didn't knew the whole story but it was obvious Shahzain had done something to break her sister's heart.
The door creaked open as Mehrma came in her view. She looked tired as she's just fought a battle or was about too. Mehrma took a deep breath, she knew that Mahnoor would've seen them in the garden and was here to inspect.
"Shuru ho jao." Mehrma gestured her to sit on the bed. Mehrma didn't had the will power in her to argue so she just sat on the edge of the bed while Mahnoor remained standing. A few seconds of silence before Mehrma spoke. The voice barely above a whisper.
(Start speaking)
"We met a few years back." Mehrma's head bowed a bit as she stared at the floor, trying not to be sentimental over the past. Mahnoor absorbed her words and then waited for her to continue.
"It shouldn't have happen, we shouldn't have met. It was a mistake." Mehrma wasn't sure who was she saying those words to, herself to control her emotions and to remind herself of how regretful she should be or to give Mahnoor an answer that won't reveal much.
"Kyun?" Mahnoor asked further, she wanted to know the truth before she came up to any conclusions.
(Why?)
Mehrma took a deep breath and looked directly at Mahnoor, tears shining in her eyes. "Because it is better for some chapters to remain closed." Mahnoor didn't pry her any further, she wanted to know the truth but not on the expense of her sister's emotions. Mahnoor sat beside Mehrma her hands wrapping around her as she pulled her in for a hug.
They sat there in silence, wrapped in one another's embrace, trying to seek comfort from the cruelties of the world. One trying to run away from a man who was a stain on the existence on mankind and the other trying to forget the reason of her misery.
